I don't think this is fusion. This looks EXACTLY like Saidi, costuming is NOT Saidi... kinda Egyptian Shaabi but the dance is Saidi not "gypsy" that is to coin the term "bedouin": legs are a bit far apart which is not natural of usual arabic dance, but in those long Saidi dresses, you need a little bit of distance to shake the coins on the dress. Cane work is a tiny bit off in some parts and opens a little too strong but she's awesome. I wouldn't knock this ancient dance to fusion though.
Belly dancing is a gypsy invention. The gypsies who originated from India introduced the pelvic thrust of Indian dance to the middle east. The Europeans called the pelvic thrust belly dance because it wiggles the belly. So, belly dancing is an Indian gypsy dance and not an ancient Egyptian dance. The ancient Egyptian dances were acrobatic.
lol i shut her down! @ a birthday party every one was cheering 4 me and she honestly went & sat down and then got up and was telling people to dance with her but know one would lol after a while she came and said to me ok you can go sit down now and let me do my job! i was like :O booo lol
@hannabeyonce lol i think Princess Jasmina shut you down lollllllll!!!!!Thats funny..you might have Mistaken their cheering for lol...coz Princess Jasmina rocks..no one probably danced with her because they had respect for her performance, unlike your big ego self lol! Good on her for telling you to take a sit in the back...after all its her show and performance not yours...I am sure lots of dancers are sick of people like you who have to interrupt their performance just for a stupid ego trip..
I would say about 1/3 of the gigs I do there is some one like that, who feels insecure about themselves and tries to show me up and we give them their "spotlight" as to not be rude, since we are being paid and/or tipped. The cheering is either out of jeering or is done by granny sitting in the back because you are her little angle or a boyfriend who doesnt want to get yelled at later. I always bring the crowd up for a lesson and contest after my solo. can't you people wait until then?
@pageantgurlie088 I like it when people come and dance with me and get involved... They really start enjoying themselves fully when they get to dance. What I don't like is when the bf won't look at you bc they're afraid to get yelled at and sadly a lot of girls who give glares. (Those are the ones I get up to dance, they really loosen up after that and once they do, everyone has fun.) Its best if everyone only stays up for a little while though, not the whole time.
Dear Razzi you have got to be joking really ?!.... "amateur material at best?". How amateurish is your judgment? I have seen Princess Jasmina perform at different places in Melbourne on different occasions. And trust me this dancing (slowed down by the video imagery-which tends to speed up slow movement and slow down fast movement-doesn't seem to do her justice. Trust me seeing her live she is lightning speed and her milking the moves is far more accentuated and well felt than what appears here.
Dear RAZZI1496 Sadie is a great dancer, but she is a complete choreographer with every movement practised and planned to the same song.she hardly uses her space..her stomach movements are great, but she tends to stay in one spot..and style is very different..this is as professional as it gets..Princess Jasmina of Melbourne not only improvises completely but thinks of movements on the spot...she dances as she feels the music right in front of you.she uses her space very well also..a real artist!
This is amazing! Love it. Really don't like her costume though xD Doesn't affect her dancing though. Mezmerising! I got some great combination ideas for my own learning of this dance style. Beautiful!
I posted this video of Princess Jasmina...I am one of her great Middle Eastern fans..i am glad I did...ive seen her live at Sahara Nights years ago... i've seen many arabic dancers in my life especially when I travelled to Lebanon and Egypt.. and she is still the best...very exciting dancer!
I love this dance..she shows strength and sexiness and beauty all in one....and the dress is cute and very wild...All is made up on the spot...what a great artist!

@RAZZ1496 Saidi was based on when women used to mock the fighting done by Egyptian men before they went off to war. This dance was based on it. :-)

Beautiful lady. The skinny girls are ok. The best bellydancers have a little (or alot) of beautiful padding to make the dance what it should be!
