  • its amazing for him to be able to do that on his first time in an F! car. Very impressed!!!

  • Chris Harris is a seasoned porsche cup driver and he is scared by the F1 car.

    Amazing piece of engineering.

  • "Makes a veryon feel like a Mazda 2!" brilliant

  • It is absolutely amazing how he's handling this car so well for a first timer.

  • I used to be an F1 driver, but then I took an arrow to the knee...

  • @PeiD0nG grow up that wasnt funny what so ever.

  • If you haven't driven one, you can imagine what it's like as you can hear from Chris himself..it's not that he isn't used to fast cars..!

  • I think old Steve Sutcliffe did a better job then Chris. I bet they had a argument over a few beers!

  • is it just me or does £375k actually not sound that bad at all....

  • @bison6661 -- you're right its really not bad ... keep in mind this F1 car is about 10 years old and didn't win any accolades (Jaguar F1) -- if you want one of Schumi Ferrari's WDC winning machines it runs around $2 million 0_0

  • To those of us who have gone WOT on a Yamaha R1 in every gear, and we feel it's the fastest thing ever, we need to ponder a formula 1 car. These things are almost double the power to weight ratio, and considering rev ranges and tire sizes, they are. To drive a Formula 1 car is to dine on honeydew and drink the milk of paradise.

  • The word awesome has never been so appropiate

  • "makes a veyron feels like a mazda 2"..... lol

  • ran auto

  • Great drive dude..You hammered it unlike most in the past I have witnessed attempt the impossible,,,, Well done Maestro!

    Dion B

    Embassy Pictures

  • @embassypictures gran auto no?

  • This guy has too much adrenaline in his system combine that with a monster and the average person would blackout in fear power to weight would be like driving a bullet

  • makes a Veyron feel like a masda 2 lol

  • @nightsynth yes !!! F1 destroy every cars .......

  • para no ser piloto de f1 manejo bastante bien :)

  • I think it`s so sad that a trooper like Mark Webber didn`t become champion this year.S.Vettel has many good years ahead of him,M.Webber FINALLY got a competative car,but is at the end of his career.I think Webber deserves a championship much like some get a gold watch when they retire.

  • @TheDartblockstang He drives it better than you...

  • @TheDartblockstang He is a better driver than you are so stfu, why do you even write you idiot? You are nothing but he is something, you can just type here on the internet and nothing more.

Show me some vids of your awesome driving performance instead, no? Cuz you suck you faggot, fat computer nerd i bet, btw it's hard to drive an f1 you fat fuck!

  • @Rigormortisen and he probably couldn't fit in lol

  • @chun8848 word! hahahaha =D

  • Seeing the F1 drivers racing on Monaco's narrow streets with those unbelievable freaky machines is... waooh... When you realise that, you gotta RESPECT all of them (even the underdogs like Chandock or Di grassi...), no matter what you think of each one of them...

  • @thoughtmaster972 damn right

  • Much more candid and interesting than Richard 'over-pronounce everything, everyday's Christmas, please adopt me' Hammond's excursion in an F1 car.

  • mark webber sucks.

    lewis hamilton ftw!

  • @ASSHOLELA

    fuck off

  • @ASSHOLELA shame lewis can't finish races

  • pause at 5:37: the thing in front methinks is a patch of ice...hence him spinning

  • @xdemon123

    Ice? =D

    Maybe oil...

  • @TheCrazyFinn if u watch other vids then ull hear martin brundle say its 1 degree centigrade outside sooo yea...ice...as in... methamphetamines....fuck yea thats the stuff

  • @xdemon123 I suppose the track could be colder than the air, but unless that's the case I doubt water would freeze above 0°C...

  • Comment removed

  • Def hit something that made him spin.

  • SHIT A BRICK..............Hhahahahahhahahahahhaah

  • You can hear him getting braver as the video goes on. Great experience.

  • hes breaking way too early

  • @bugsy791 have you tried driving an f1 car recently :) im pretty sure if chris harris isnt confidant braking as late as the pro's neither would you.

  • When he spun it I think he actually slipped on a patch of ice. Not his fault entirely.

  • 0-300kph and down to 0 agein in 10seconds!!!!! it's insane :P in turn of breaking power and accs.,

  • @xspan14 not only that and the way to handle the corner

  • yes way too much "torque" ;)

  • makes a veyron feel like mazda 2 hahahahahahahhahahahahahha

  • the throttle was opened early at 5.38 :)

  • I wonder how good is good, i mean jaguar when they raced in F1 a few years ago was scrap when commpared to a Ferrari, they just keep going over the edge, wonder if there is any limit? :S God I love racing :) trying to find the limits of the car is just a super and dangerous job :)

  • its funny how even the best autojournalists are so intimidated by a f1 car.

  • cris harris...is he greek?

  • I think it is fair to say that driving a Formula 1 car is a once in-a-lifetime thing.

  • Ice @ 5:38 was like 5cm thick.

  • The sound of the F1 engine is the best sound in the world.

  • "you're sitting so low and you travel so fast", well, that's why you were asked if you knew the way round the track!

  • Huge respect for Chris here. Saying he drives the car like a pussy is just stupid. He is driving on a track, covered in parts of ice. F1 cars are very tricky in these conditions, espacially when you are a novice.

  • He's obviously afraid of the car's power, I would be too.

  • OMG my wife could do better than this

  • @iwcham1979 You're an absolute fucking retard. Educate yourself

  • @KieranMatthews626 You have no idea how impressive it is he can even do what he's doing... do some research before you talk shit.

  • @bmancodgta4 steve sutcliffe drove the honda ra107 round silverstone and did a 48.58, only four tenths slower than their test driver james rossiter. what was chris' time? oh thats right HE CANT EVEN COMPLETE A LAP CUZ HE SUCKS

  • @KieranMatthews626 You are right, he can't complete a lap.

In this video he completed well over TEN laps.

    You are a genius.

  • @KieranMatthews626 I'd like to see you get within breathing distance of this car, let alone be trusted to drive it.

  • @KieranMatthews626

I guess when you're accustomed to playing Need For Speed or Gran Turismo, you think you can do everything better!!

  • @typer765 @bmancodgta4 steve sutcliffe drove the honda ra107 round silverstone and did a 48.58, only four tenths slower than their test driver james rossiter. what was chris' time? oh thats right HE CANT EVEN COMPLETE A LAP CUZ HE SUCKS.

  • i know F1 cars r faster on tracks but i wonder wat an indy car would run

  • Shit Brix

  • Would destroy any road car until it came to a pothole/speedbump/white road marking!

Or a long straight against the Veyron. Then through the corners you would wave goodbye to that jumped up mid engined VW golf.

  • imagine you can use this car on the road and race against a veyron, ccxr , SCC...

  • @techjoe040669 how de hell can u compete F1 car to any supercar in the world?)

BTW he's doing better then Hamster)

  • lol 2:45 fucking hell

  • At 1:45, does he ay "Shit a brick!" ? Lol!

  • 5:51...that's fear right there

  • F1 drivers earn their money... FACT

  • Anyone who says that doesn't comprehend how obscenely much they get paid- eg Webber $200,ooo per week, Schumacher (from 1996- 2006) $2 million per week. $2 million per week, every week for 10 years- while u earn $2000, maybe just $1000 per week?

Ie. in your entire life working 40 or 50 hours a week in an actual (productive) job, you will earn about what Schumacher earned per week for a decade, in a "job" that, if we're honest, anyone would do for fun for free.

    Nope- NOT earned, just "Gifted"

  • @mallamoozoo

Lol, no offence mate, but you`re just a pissed off beacuse you inevitably have a very difficult 9 - 5 job and aren`t particularly happy the way your life has unfolded

Don`t get me wrong, I know we`re in the midst of an economic depression the likes of which we`ve never seen, but do you think somebody comes up to their doorstep and says " You`re racing for Ferrari now!"

NO, They go out and they fuckin earn it, so "uneducated fools" like you can think about why theyre on youtube

  • @F1addict09 Not even close- I actually have never worked because I fully see what a scam the whole system is- working class are slaves while the privileged indulge at the expense of the working masses (thats the pyramid principle). It's you working class that are the "uneducated fools"- i am just trying to help you see it- but invariably its too much of a shock to your egos to see how badly you've been taken for a ride- and you resort to palliative belief systems about sports "heroes". Crap!

  • Actually I raced (amateur) for 10 years (kart, F.Ford) and did an F3 and F1 track day- and the fact is its not that hard- yes it needs dedication and skill to become proficient- but no more so than say a guitar player- a fair analogy- as again it's something that is not productive to anyone else and is done purely for personal pleasure- and again there are a thousands of amateur hobbyists who can play as good as pros while a few privileges ones are gifted tens of $millions while you WORK.

  • @mallamoozoo you have to look at what they did to get there. the sponsorships. the advertising. all the off-track stuff is harder than what they do in the car. they bring money to the teams, theyre not just "gifted tens of millions", they work hard for it. theyre essentially salesmen until they become a big enough star to have the people coming to them

  • @mallamoozoo marxist bollocks. good excuse for being a lazy bastard.

  • Correction, at the chuck norris end of the racing car spectrum.

  • push that pedal granny

  • Bring Chris Harris back!!!!

  • Have you guys seen the Lola B08/20 World Junior Formula Car, check out the Lola website or google it.

Man that car looks nice. suppose to bring F3 technology down to an even more affordable level for a F1 training class and driver school but the cars are actually more powerful than F3 cars.

    Very Nice

  • Don't forget that £375K converts to $614,025USD today. ;)

A little research seems to show that the cost of a single car is around that range. It's all the backup parts and team, training etc overhead that adds up into the millions.

(Admittedly I know basically nothing about any of this.)

  • An F3 car would be doing faster lap times.. Not surprised they only let him on the club circuit. Safer for all concerned.

  • Are you serious? He is not the best driver but, a F3? No No No. GP2 maybe with a really good driver.

  • Why is this car so much cheaper than a normal F1 car? He said its only 375,000, aren't F1 cars usually well in the range of the millions?

  • Even if its "only" worth 375,000 pounds. You have to add in all the maintenance that comes in for a F1 car.

And doesn't one of those engines last only a few week or so? (When used on a track). Because it is all built to be as light and give as much power as possible.

  • Well yea, I realize a lot of maintenance goes into the cars, but when you see that a Formula 1 steering wheel goes for $100,000 or a new engine costs over $200,000 alone, the overall price of this F1 car should be more don't you think?

  • Yes but as everything on the market it's not the labour that the determines the price, but amount of money that people are willing to pay for it. This device once the racing season is over is pretty much absolete and worthless it's done it's racing, it did or didn't earn advertising money and atracted sponsors and that's it.

  • 375,000 is just for the car. & that cost alone will just allow the buyer to park it somewhere to gather dust. To buy & operate it...you are talking millions as you have to pay for the transport, engineers, mechanics, staff & basic regular maintainance & also new engines or rebuilds). And then also on top of that fuel...tyres etc.....which will cost extra. And BTW....he ditched the car at the end cos the tyres were too cold....he wasnt warming them up due to not driving fast enough.

  • @SupaSix1 actually ferrari offer a service that wont cost too many millions. after buying the car -you can get a 2000 schumacher car for around 1.5million they charge 5000 euros a year to transport and look after the car which is quite reasonable. they also provide a team of mechanics included in this price although there are maintenance costs which vary according to age and how well its looked after.

  • Fucking idiot

  • This is harder than it looks. Thing is.. you will be going too slow for the wheels to get warm so you get no traction. Also there wont be enough air flowing over the wings to generate downforce. again little traction and the breaks works better at high speeds. You can buy proper F1 cars from last season and stuff and race them yourself. They downtune them so its reliable rather than axe-murderer-aggressive. Forexample tune it down 1000rpm. Only a proper F1 driver would know the difference anyway

  • Looked like some fluids on the track he spun on to me........

  • dead serious.

how much would i have to pay do drive one for like. 2 laps.

  • You can in sweden, for about 1,500£

Shud be some places in england they offer public people that also?

  • long story short the harder you push the harder it is to lose control but dont push to hard unless you got deep pockets lol

  • Is it me, or is he way too slow through the main straight? As for the rest of the circuit, he seems to be going quite fast for a beginner (Beginner here being an understatement, i know).

  • hes heaps slow everywhere dude, breaking so early for the corners. Interesting hearing the car blip the throttle on downshifts though, normally the drivers are so quick it gets mixed into one sound.

  • Actually hes going to quite slow. I know it sounds stupid but yes HE IS going fast but he isnt going fast enough to heat the brakes and tires so he can really start getting the grip. F1 Cars are so very complex and intimidating. This looks fast to me and you but in reality the experts will say you need to go faster gotta warm those brakes and tires up or you wont have enough stopping power and not enough grip. So in short... you need to go faster to get control the exact opposite of a road car

  • since they bought Stewart F1 team..

and now they dont have anymore, since Red Bull bought Jaguar F1 team..

how long have you been watching F1?

at lest you should go to wikipedia b4 you make a comment like this..lol

  • Sorry, I am a stupid American.

    I want to watch F1 but I can't where I live.

I will be able to this summer though. I will learn more then so I do not ask stupid questions again.

  • i never called u stupid.. ure comment just sounded too agressive and sarcastic, and you werent right.. there was already a Jaguar F1 team..

    just read what you said..

  • try bbc website and go on co. uk one and youll be able to watch them

  • also. how many times have you seen an f1 car being driven in icy cold conditions, in a 2004 f1 car? if you can find me other examples of videos of people driving a similar f1 car, in these sort of conditions, where it looks 'fast', then fair enough. but you can't. you idiot.

  • oh i meant warmer. As the day hammond was driving it was sunny, and quite obviously WARMER.

when you're trackside.. what. when watching f1 drivers drive? REALLY? It looks like hes driving slower than in a grand prix? DOES IT REALLY?

  • you clearly dont have a fucking clue what you're on about. this is an old jaguar F1 car, from 2004 i think.

'hammond had all the driver aids off' ???? No he didn't! LOL. And he was driving on the shitty stowe circuit, on a colder day, and could barely handle the car at all.

chris harris is a PROPER driver, not some faggoty tv presenter, you idiot.

he was driving an f1 car on slicks on a freezing cold winter day at silverstone. its people like you that deserve to die.

  • Hats of to this guy, he drove a veyron at full pelt and didnt bat an eye lid, he has jumped in this and is blown away that must some performance under his right foot

  • does it have a clutch

  • See part one. A hand operated pedal situated below the upshift pedal on the steering wheel.

I salute Chris Harris. He did well. It must be a mind boggling reference point shifting awesome experience to drive an F1 car...

  • he looks like jeff goldblum :)

  • this is the same silverstone track thats in forza 2 cool

  • It's the national track.

  • @godlyjustin0 why would it be different?

  • @godlyjustin0 and need for speed shift

  • the r25 that hammond drove was a v10 not a v12

  • My apologies, im mistaken, a V10 it is, even so harris wasnt exactly pushing the boundries of grip!

  • "...you sit so low, travel so fast..."

Now you know why you were asked if you know the track!

  • fuck the Caparo T1, i want this

  • Hey, although richard hammond seemed to struggle a bit more, this guy wasnt pushing the car at all, he was being a complete girl with the throttle and changing up super early. Richard actually tried to drive it with a bit of pace.

  • Like you think you could do so much better? These things are ridicilous to drive

  • you think is a videogame or something

  • Lol, try reading my comment again. Im saying richard hammond actually tried to drive the car close to limit in explanation for the fact he seemed to struggle more.

  • yeah man, so hammond tried to drive to the limit and looked ridiculous spinning twice and in better weather conditions. harris did good ¿, and on icy weather.

  • i think hammond would have done better on a proper circuit like this not inbetween a miniscule coned section, like Nelson Piquet once said of monaco its like trying to ride your bicycle round your living room.

  • Done better then richard hammond hehe

  • 'I'm on the grass again guys' - lol

  • look at the tire, theres smoke, thats how warm it is! Dont take the blame for the 2nd spi chris, theres was ice right in front of the car that couldnt be avoided, you can see its reflection at 5:38

  • You'll find that's probably the brakes :P

  • Damn, I wanted to point that one out, lol.

  • The track had ice on it, you need to stay away from the apexs..also its his firs drive so obviously he was a noob with the pedals

  • the last thing u wanna do with that car is to break it, which is very very easy to do

  • A F1 car needs just 9 seconds from 0 km/h to 300km/h and the Veyron something about 15sec. so u c the F1 is much faster

  • a much better attempt at driving an f1 car than richard hammonds imho!! a very good insight into the vast differences between driving a grand prix car and even the highest spec road cars

  • you would be too.

  • Mate thats well funny commentary!! lol I worked at F1 once those cars are sooo fucking loud and quick its unbelievable!!!

  • shit, and he's just coasting round...

  • is he short shifting?

  • lol yea, noticed a few times too. But still if its first time on that, Bloody good driving.

Not at the last few seconds though :P

  • It's amazing that he can even keep this thing on the road. Watch Richard Hammond's attempt and you'll see what I mean.

  • hahah yeah I was thinking the same thing, richard couldn't do one bend at first hahah.

  • oh and btw sorry i forgot to put, over the quarter mile ron kiddel skyline or gp2 car.

what do we think? does anyone know what a gp2 car or 1 car could do the quarter mile in? ive never really seen it happen before

  • ive always wanted to know what would be faster, a GP2 car, so its not an f1 car, but still pretty frikkin speedy, or ron kiddels tuned r32 skyline. what do we think people?

anyone who knows what im on about will know that that skyline is the fucking buissness.

  • "3rd 4th 5th 6th...sh^t a brick" lol!

  • LMAO, I didn't know what he said the 1st time I watched this. That shit is funny. No pun intended :D

  • £350k is astonishingly good value for an F1.

That's over half the price of a Bugatti Veyron!

  • i wish it was street legal

  • I used the Veyron as a point as the two vehicles have roughly the same torque to weight ratio. The F1 car is obviously alot faster as it has a power to weight ratio of about 1500bhp/ton v 550bhp/ton of the veyron. I was trying to make the point way back up there that torque to weight ratio means squat but you all seemed to have grabbed the wrong end of the stick and run with it.

  • Bull shit 7mgtesup, you were arguing with the fact that Harris said the F1 made the Veyron feel like a Mazda 2, therefor suggesting the F1 car wouldn't feel quicker, which it definitely would, because IT IS. Have a watch of that 5th Gear video with a Formula Ford V a Ford GT - and just remember how much quicker an F1 is compared to a Formula Ford which has approx 150bhp.

  • please point to me where in all of this I said the F1 car wouldn't feel quicker?

  • Just for the record guys, rude90 bought up the torque to weight argument not me.

    rude90 wrote

7mgtesup, it also only ways just over half a ton, so it has a torque to weight ratio of 500lbs/ft per tonne! Not a clever comment was it?!!

  • who can something think about a veyron being faster? cornering with 5g, braking with -35m/s - you can't tell on TV what those cars can do. I regulary visit FIA-GT etc which is fast but looks easy. Renault 3.5 was also there being flat at 270kph through Eau Rouge, but having seen F1 through Eau Rouge was unbelieveable.

Veyron can only go straight - give me a GT3 RS and I'll win against Veyron around the Nordschleife by miles - simply too fat and too powerful to be driven sporty

  • Correct, the Veyron is the enthusiasts "anti-car", fat is the perfect word.

  • lol, was he on the limiter at 1:25 ?

  • are you lot arguing if a veyron or F1 car is faster?! I thought it be fucking obvious, the F1 car would completely waste ANY road car round a track.

  • Guys, classic confustion of engine torque vs torque or FORCE generated at the rear wheels.

    Power = Acceleration / (mass x velocity)

which means, at any same vehicle speed, the rear wheel forces will be identical (if the HP is the same. if the weight is differenct, plug in the HP/weight ratio and make your comparison.

So, the "engine torque" comparison above is meaningless for comparisons.

    Mk

  • Were you referring to my comment? If i thought i could have convinced 7mgtesup of his error just by posting what you did believe me i would have. But buy by his comments i figured the only way he might listen would be to prove with calculations that his torque / weight figure was absolutely useless.

  • Thanks for that Mick7770z, hallelujah!
