Cute as hell! Her coloring looks superb! I have a 7 year old Shiba named Uni. (Uni = sea urchin eggs, same color as peanut butter -COINCIDENCEEEE- and Uni is also Inu backwards. As in Shiba INU.) He's a malicious little bastard. Jumps up on our beds as soon as we don't look (And instantly ruins them with hair) and digs through our trash. Our nickname for him is muffin :D

They're becoming fairly common these days--I can usually find one or two at a local pet store even. But be forewarned that it is a HIGH energy dog, and very stubborn when it comes to wanting to stay put. Good escape artists, too! Mine drove me up the wall.

He's adorable! I never saw my Shiba when he was that young, we got him at 3 1/2 months old and he was already so big! Yes, they do love to be around the family. For the price...it really varies. We got ours for $125 from a "breeder" in KS. I don't believe he was a breeder, I believe it was a puppy mill, but we love our Shiba (Hershey) all the same! He's an awesome family dog and I can't wait to get another one some year.

Could someone give me some advice? I'm debating on whether to get a Pembroke Welsh Corgi or a Shiba Inu. I prefer a more mellow dog, that doesn't bark so much, and doesn't get all nervous and restless when I gone during the day. I know that training your dog plays a big part, but I always hear people talk about a breed's general characteristics. From the videos I've seen on Youtube, a Corgi seems calmer than a Inu, anyone own either of these dogs?

Shiba Inus need lots of exercise and attention. They can behave with the proper training but they need exercise. With a Welsh Corgi you won't have to spend as much time exercising it. So don't get a Shiba if you don't have much time for walking/running him.

I've owned both, my Shiba is still a puppy, and needs lots and lots of exercise/supervision. But Corgi puppies need lots of exercise and are pretty hyper too, they mellow out after 1-2 years. Neither breed is really ideal for your lifestyle tbh, but a corgi would be better. You should probably look into a lazier breed than either. It's cruel to leave a high energy breed alone all day long, trained or not. It'll make your dog neurotic.

A Shiba will suffer from you being gone during the day. They are a primitive breed that will need to be with their "pack" as much as possible. If you're not there with them, they can easilly get destructive and unhappy. I'd go for the Pembroke.
