Jurek, I think this rercording, as much as any I've heard, demonstrates the depth of the talent of Dajos Bela. Thanks to you, in the last couple of years I've learned about and come to appreciate this man born here in Kiev, who went on to a truly marvelous career. Thank God, he was one of those who was smart enough to get out of Germany in time and live the last years of his life peacefully in Argentina. The body of work he left behind is truly phenomenal. As always, thanks, dear Jurek.

Jurek, after listening again to this exeptional record I wonder how can we be sure that it was really recorded in France ?

A little "Ki" prefix at the matrix number says that. May be seen on the label

and is pressed in schellac.

This way French recordings of Odeon, made in Paris were denoted.

All cuts of the Great Gardel made in France bear it.

I enjoyed this a great deal and the paintings even more! I was taken with the duck farming scene. Out East where our friend Genia lives, Peking duck farming is a big Polish-American occupation. These ducks are soething wonderful and always worth all the time it takes to bake them.
