I don't think Germany would have bothered the US or UK. Because apparently the germans and british didn't have anything against each other, the british just fought the french's war.
There is also a myth about the british and germans playing football together and exchanging gifts on christmas. Or is that true?
@Lintflas I strongly agree. The German Empire was victim by simply helping Austria Hungary avenge the sensless murder of the Archduke and his pregnant wife Sophie by Serbain terrorists and some sympathizers within the Serbian government. Austria Hungary had the right to avenge the murders, but the Russian Empire hinders punishment. England is put into serious position due to the alliance system and the French just wanted in because they were sore losers when they lost fair in square in 1871
If only the German Empire won WWI preventing Nazi Germany rising, the Blitz, Invasion of Poland, Pearl Harbor, the formation of the Soviet Union, Korean War, Vietnam, the Iranian Revolution and 9/11 since Saudi Arabia would be under British influence. Plus the Mujahdeen would never have split into Al'Queda and the Taliban since the Soviets would never have invaded Afghanistan.
First of all, it is a historic fact that Germany did NOT start WW1.
Unfortunately American/British post war propaganda still blames WW1 on Germany, and about one year ago the Germans have finished paying reparations for a war they NEVER started.
Furthermore it is a myth that Germans elected Hitler to start WW2 for revenge. The Germans just wanted a job to feed their children and no WW2, so they elected him because he promised to restore the German economy.
Germany would probably take most of the entente's colonial possessions, create buffer states from the land take in the brest-litovsk treaty. France, Italy, and the British would be forced for compensation and the entente's forces would be reduced drastically. The communists in Russia would still probably win the revolution and also revolutions in the former entente would be a possibility. No doubt another World War would be inevitable, but i don't know what would happen after that.
Germany would of taken over France but wouldnt of invaded The UK because of the Royal navy. The same thing actualy happened in World War II where Germany didnt want to invade Germany by Sea but by Air. If Germany won the war it probably would of taken over french territories in Africa and Asia plus Germany would demand territory from England and Russia. France would probably expierence a counter reveloution only if the treaty was as powerful as the treaty of versailes.
Germany wasnt even responsible for WW1. Some Serbian idiots thought it was funny to kill the austrian prince, franz ferdinand, which started a war between austria and serbia. germany said, ok were going to help you fighting against serbia and joined the fight. russia wasnt too happy about serbia being attacked, which is why they attacked austria and germany. france proclaimed war on germany. as a response germany attacked france over neutral belgium, which caused the UK to join the fight.
@l33tnobody1337 The black hand was responsible for Franz's death. The black hand had no affiliation with Serbia. However since the assassin just happened to be Serbian the Austrian-Hungarian's thought they could use it to elevate their position in the Balkans by imposing unreasonable demands (look them up) that would probably make them a puppet state. The Germans indeed did have a part in these demands, Austria-Hungary didn't hand the Serbs their demands until Germany gave the go ahead.
well i think it would have been better if germany won world war one millions of people would have never had died and that was about one billion people died in world war two
You brought up loads of awesome points. I only have the simplistic schoolboy answer of us all speaking german in europe. possibly in the US if they spread further.
Untill two years ago, i still thought that the Nazi's were in WW1! And im 18! D:
i only know one country where nationalism is still as strong as then . Turkey, in turkey going to the army is something that every man is proud to do. they still feel the same and ever more proud of themselves and their nation. like u can say america. but i live here and i like america but in here people dont even have time for pride besides 9/11.
And also, if the Central Powers won the war, then obviously, ww2 wouldnt have happened. We would have never seen the horrors of a evil empire. And because of that, we wouldnt be as careful, and we would be blind sided. And because of that, there would sometime in the future, be a real, great, evil power, and we wouldnt care, until its too late.
well, with this topic, if america got in another civil war at this time, itd probably be a division of comunism, and democracy, sorry if i spelled one of thise words wrong, im not a very good speller
WWI changed the world map , & it's more Important than WWII .
If you study & research about the real reasons of WWI & it's connection with Europe colonialism on Arabs & Africa before, you will understand the following : WW2 , Middle-East problems , Israel , the war on Terror , the world economy ,& how america came to the top of the world ... ( Destroy & Rebuild , Destroy & Rebuild , Destroy & Rebuild ...)
For the second scenario, I don't think that much would be different. One of the most horrendous and scarring effects of the war was the destruction and death it caused. By the end, to the citizens of the nations involved, it didn't matter who won; it just needed to end. I could see the Nazis still being a force in Germany, and I think that it would still ultimately lead to the end of a dominant Europe. Loved the video!
For Russia, I think that without any French war in the west, Germany could smash Russia. I could see Russia imploding, but a communist nation would definitely not be allowed by a dominant Germany. The United States would still remain a peripheral player, but I could see their sheer economic influence and potential for power tipping the tide against Germany in any British-German cold war. Japan might have been eclipsed by a rising Germany, who already had a presence in the Pacific.
I like your distinction between a 1914 victory at the Marne, or a 1918 Kaiserschlacht victory. For the first one, I almost feel like it would be similar to France's defeat in 1871, and Germany would just gobble up some colonies, which apparently was their main aim. Britain would be a horrible hassle to invade, and I don't think Germany would even bother. I could almost see a kind of cold-war situation developing. The Central Power empires would remain, I think, but only as puppets of Germany.
well though germany had lost WW1 most of which that caused hitler to go into power was the fact that the allies punished Germany extremly for WW1 making them pay millions of dollars to the allies and leaving germany in a wreck this caused germay to have a bitter resentment tword the allied powers and made them want revenge
@TheFemaleNazi Never would they have attacked us, technologically inferior, less manpower, were in a revolutionary war, US was biggest arms manufactorer in the America's, it would take too much effort to calm the majority of english speaking inhabitants, and the Germans would never be able to get supplies to the Mexicans. I did see that you capitalised the "may" to make it clear that they still might've declined.
it was an american fabricated lie so that america could enter WW1 , britan and germany were at a stalemate and the US investested so much in britans arms that if britan lost the us would not of gotten paid back.
also if germany win their would be no poland,
russia is in civil war beteween commi and tradiotinal that germany stays away from its east.
britan becomes GERMANY before WW2.
americas economy is ruled by rockafellers and self crashes
France and RUssia could very well be communist states as well, leading to an earlier war, Spain would probably implode like normal in a civil war, Italy would be different, with no victory vs Germany they'd have no chance for Mussolini to take power, they would however maybe assist France and Russia. but idk i'm just speculating on speculation :D
lets say then later on Britain agrees to a truce with Germany, seeing the war of France and Russia against Germany The Brits might instead side with Germany, as long as Germany wouldn't have a party like the Nazis in power and maintain power of their Kaiser, you might end up with another horrible mess.
Assuming this happens, maybe the US would get a little antsy at this point, or potentially assisting France or Britain against the other.
OKay so lets say Germany does win ww1, and they take France and Russia. with Britain left in a battle of attrition at sea? Lets say the US remains neutral for whatever reason.
You probably would have a reversal of treaty of versailles, but Germany would struggle to hold down Russia and France at the same time, so i figure there would be at the least unrest in each of these, potentially another war would start with France and Russia wupping Germany stuck in the middle.
i think if germany won world war 1 there would be no United States because with no world war one the united states army wouldnt be a professional army be cause they didnt have a bootcamp or whatever you want to call it so the Germans would invade the united states and th U.S. Army wouldnt stand a chance.
If Germany would have won WW1 or WW2,they would have fallen like the Romans did.Rebels would have formed.Political problem would have come and in a BOOM.Germany would not be on the map right now.
I've asked myself this question many times before and had time to think about all the possible outcomes that would have happened "If'' Germany had won WW1 and I think that eventually everything would have fallen back into the 19th century europe... I also believe that if germany would have taken out Paris in the beggining of the war Mexico would have probably joined up with the central powers and would have put the United states at a giant loss. and that is what i think would happen.
@TheFemaleNazi yes that is a good point about the zimmerman telegram i agree we don't know if the mexains whoud have join the central powers i heared they were in a tight spot back then but still like you said you never know instead when the british found the telegram gave it to woodrow wilson he was very angery allowing the germans uesing code tranpsions so the u.s. enter the war also of submarine warfare cost the germans the war cuz's im sure we all know the amercians were the the forces won
I belive what would have happened is that german armies would have occupied france, birtain may or may not have been invaded. Britain would have collapsed. Germany would be a superpower and no anti semitic feelings Einstein would have stayed in germany and made an atombomb for the germans and many other things. Eventually france would have fallen to a new regime maybee a communist or an authoriatin state like vichy in ww2. The ottomans would domminate the middle east and northern africa,
Germany would've become a colonial and world super power while the allies hid away in shame and went through a series of downfalls. The world wouldn't be as peaceful or as good as now but there wouldn't have been a world war 2 that was started by germany. There would have been a WW2 though. for lost colonies and honor
France & Britain would never have a communist revolution, it's to do with culture, not circumstances. If a time for that emerged, it was the great depression.
Germany would not have invaded Britain or France if they won- but they would take all of France and Britain's colonies.
Idk if you still go on this channel anymore let alone read the comments Stalin, but there are some Pretty sweet Hearts of Iron 2 mods that are centered around this topic. Namely the Kaiserreich Legacy of the Weltkrieg mod.
good video yeah what whould happend if germany had won ww1 had the u.s stay out of the war i think the war deffanely came to bloody a stalemate in 1917 or the german office in spring of 1918 whould had provaled and germany whould over run paris and britain whould sing an armistice of starvtion there been an allied surrender just like the teaty of Brest-Litovsk and if granded if the germans had provaled in the west and no versailled treaty maybe germany chould have done sometihng to have no ussr
most likely, WW2 would be avoided because remember, the main cause of WW2 was Hilter rose to power and his ability to tap in the bitter resentment of the German people from their loses in WW1. If Germany won ( remember, germany during the ww1 was not like the Nazis in any way, they were more rational?) mebbe the holocaust would been avoided... and depending on what time Germany was able to win,say mebbe before 1917, germany may not need to send lenin, and soviet russia would be avoided
@yvesdaczar MAYBE the holocaust would have been avoided? Of course it would, you twit. Kaiser Wilhelm was a decent guy, he was just completely out of touch and acted like a bully.
Hitler was Austrian. He came to power due to the Weimar Republic, wich is an outcome of germanies deafeat in WW1. You don`t really think an Austrian Burgher would have taken power in a monarchic prussian state ruled by Wilhelm II who was a relative to the King of Great Britain?
The holocaust could have happened even without Hitler sooner or later. It`s not the country..it`s the ruler and every country has their "specialists" in history :( See the english expulsion of 1290
My opinion: If Germany had won WW1. Austria Hungary was so worn out by early 1918, so no emperor for them. But yes, the Kaiser would still be in power. I think the Soviet Union would last only a few years. The Germans didnt trust them as much as they trusted the Tsar If Paris fell, France would surrender A mixture of facists, communists, and Republicans would fight for power. Once France fell, England would ask for an armistice, reducing her navy, and giving up colonies to the Kaiser.
That's a pretty broad question, and we really can't accurately theorize on what would happen without knowing exactly in what way Germany won. For starters, what are we defining "victory" as, secondly, when would this "victory" occur. If Germany takes France, or Paris, is that it? A lot depends on what the Germans decide to do to follow up on their success in one theater or another.
I don't think another war would necessarily have been averted. The nations within the victorious empires might have seen an opportunity to rise up against their war-weakened oppressors. What we would likely have seen is civil unrest as revolutions took hold across Europe, possibly beyond.
get most of the european lands in mideast and africa and the contrys that would suffered less would be the ones on america ethiopia would get the italian lands close to it UK would became socialist and the UK royal family would ran to canada and india would get separated into many diferent states fighting with each other to try to unite it
i belive that the USSR would never existed since germany would support the whites since they feared that the USSR might try to rconquest any land that they lost in WW1 and they feared that communism and socialist idead spread to germany i belive that the french commune would won the war again the french goverment the north of italy would be capitalist and the south would became socialist and the ottoman empire would get back some of its lands but germany and austria would still
What about Spain? If there was no WW1 the Spain would probably be communist. Communism would have then spreader further without fascism, WW2 would not happen and there would be a chance that America undergoes another civil war between communists and capitalists.
@maxico123 WW1 caused WW2 the tension in europe and the loss of WW2 caused germany to resort to nazi party, also hitler was a young soldier in WW1 so if they won there might really not be a WW2
When speaking hypothetical like now, forget about Hitler and everything we know about WW2. Like I said, some kind of event would have triggered another global war.
My point, when discussing history with a 'what if' situation, discart everything which took place after that period since these events are no longer relevant. After all, we've created a new starting point. Everything else in the hypothesis should thus be related to that point.
Finland would have become a monarki instead of republic if Germany had won world war 1, a german prince would have been put to rule Finland and all the Scandinavian countries would have monarki rule.
West-, Mid- and Eastern-Europe (except UK & Skandinavia) would have been ruled by a very authoritarian Christian-conservative German/Austrian Kaiser-collaboration making German the lingua franca of continental Europe which eventually would be turned into some kind of smaller EU but more similar to the HRE and without any Holocaust. The Balkans would be divided between a fascist Italy and the OE, therefore shifting the Sovjet-Russian frontier more to the north-east.
If Germany captured Paris, this doesn't necessarily mean they would win the war. The only chance they had and lost was at the Marne, at Amien, Americans were entering the situation 300,000 men per month, Paris would fall to the US a little while after falling to the Germans. I believe England and the French army would still have the chance to take a stab at it. If they occupy the whole of France, they would still have a front to fight on with England and Russia and maybe US.
@30DOTCOM You are wrong about some fact. Russia surrender to Germany after two civil wars. Germany naval fleet was pinned down and couldn't defeat the bigger British fleet. Thus, making a invasion of Great Britain highly unlikely. Meaning Germany wouldn't even have the chance to invade US. US had troop in France already in 1917 but Pershing want to make sure the AEF was well prepared for battles against heavy defend line. The AEF hit the heavy defend German line and face over half the German.
@916ppl Russia surrendered to Germany after two revolutions, the civil war happened later and there was only one. Whereas, yes the German fleet was highly outnumbered, having captured France, Germany could easily enforce mass production of ships and train additional crews, since the model of a massive navy already exists, it could be achieved in two years, Germany already being the greatest industrial power at the time.
@30DOTCOM No. It consider as civil war. People just like the nicer term "revolution". Germany wasn't the greatest industrial power. US produce almost the same number of military equipment as all the nations in combine in WW1 since 1914, within two years of officially joining the war.
We know that most of the countries in Central and Eastern Europe never gain independence from the German, Austro-Hungarian and Russian Empires. The rest is uncertain.
As for the youth, yeah, I don't think we're getting a Warsaw Uprising anytime soon. I'd say 2 in every 15 people would fight for their nation to the end (or fight at all). Most people these days don't give a damn about their country, they'll just move somewhere else if they find trouble.
remaining nations couklld muster about a two year war with Germany alone and would finally be pushed into a completet protectorate of theirs also Germany wouldn't annex lands other than German ones so the would have kept their borders and annexed Luxembourg, Belgium and Netherlans and pushed borders slightly out.
One its not a Soviet Empire its a union of several socialist states, if Germany won Germany allieed and backed nations would retain monarchs Britian to because they would be the last one, France would have never attacked Germany in a reverse WW2 they would be crushed. Germany would be the sole Super or even power. Germany would nevver fall if the won the first world war because they would be suprememe and would have taken opposing forces and grinded them to shreds and spat them out and then the
been loyal to their parents countries, Apart from some Congo and some of the French colonies Germany might have demanded land for settlers in the Brazil-Argentine-Uruguay-Chile area. The two major world powers today would be the US and the German Empire. But something unexpected always happens in international politics. A revenchist movement would probably have been influential in France and a WW2 started. And we would ask:Wie würde die Welt aussehen, wenn die Deutschen nicht gewonnen hätten?
It depends on the conditions imposed upon the losing countries - a Versailles-like scenario or total surrender. In most European countries we would still write ph.d.s in German, not English, and I would say to you:speak German. Would there have been the culturel breakdown, the march through the institutions? Who knows. One thing that is not considered very often is the German need for land for settlers. The German in the US became Americans very quickly - imagine if the soldiers had (continues)
Before the first world war, it was illegal to speak Dutch in Belgian courtyards and there was no Dutch version of the laws, even though 60% of the country where Dutch speaking Flemish. When the Germans invaded Belgium they translated the law to Dutch and installed a Flemish goverment. So if the Germans would have won the war Flanders would have evolved into an independant country or perhaps reunified with the Netherlands. And there would have been Belgians exploiting the Congo.
If Germany won world war 1 world war 2 wouldn't have happened....Germany was overtaken by Adolf Hitler because of WW1's Loss and the fact we did not help them rebuild, leaving a blank for Adolf Hitler to fill with his ideas, which were accepted because of Germany's need for a leader. just my opinion, prolly wrong but w/e.
@ChelskiBonjourino But portugal only entered the war very late, and we only fought in france, no more or less. And plus we didnt have an empire, just some places in Africa like
Angola, Moçambique and Guiné-Bissau
And we only entered the war because UK wasour ally.
And i dont know why we joinned ww1,because they said that africa was for them and not us.
So if Germany won, portugal woulnd´t enter in the ww1.
I think if Germany won world war 1, the Kaiser probably would think his army's were invincible so they would try Im just throwing this out there, maybe invade Spain and America could start from there but would probably lose since the Spanish were seriously underdeveloped at this point in history
You missed couple of areas. If germany won WW1 there would be no genocide, israel wouldn't be able to go to their "promised" land. The nazi party became big because the allies isolated the germans economicly and the people were desperate. I also don't like your view about wars, woman and children get the most effected by wars, you talk like its a video game. Another aspect is technological development, with the invention of nukes world wars would come to a halt like whats happening now.
I believe that the only reason why germany lost World War I was because the United States Stepped in. If they hadnt germany would have conquered all of west Europe with the exception of maybe britain who would of surrendered after it was clear that Germany was going to win. Then from there germany would more than likely take over Austria and unite The brother countrys. and likely the ottomans would have quite a bit of africa added to them. From there it would be between Germany and Russia.
I suggest you read a book called 'Castles of Steel, Britain, Germany, and the Winning of the Great War at Sea by Robert Massie.
Fantastic read. Tells of how much damage the naval blockade did to Germany(she was basically starving to death). Even if the army wanted to keep fighting the war had already been lost at home.
Sea power wins wars! Has pretty much been the decisive factor in every war since 1700. WW1 and WW2 included.
@TreuBlauPreussin You have to check that. Thousands of Germans died each day of starvation. The only neutral nation before its join the Allied that have a surplus of food was the US. US business try to sell crops to both Allied and Central Power. However, Britain blockade Germany from receiving any food. Wilson made it illegal to sell any food to Germany after suffering some sunk ships by German U-boats. Another reason was that Wilson favor Great Britain and didn't want any politics dispute.
@916ppl It wasn't a mass starvation it wasn't that much there weren't srawny Germans in the streets scrambling for food they did cut back but not thousands a day during this time German had its Industrial Rhineland and the rest of its nation but Posen, West Prussia, East prussia and other parts of the nations were vast farm lands plus the produce from Austria_Hungary which was biger and not more had mor efarmlands and less of a population to feed.
it is soo nice yet so odd. EVERY grand empire europe has seen has fallen. that is to say, any grand power that takes control of europe falls at one time or another. the leader may make one huge mistake or it collapses on it's own. some examples: the Romans, French, Nazis ect. i think if the Germans had won, the empires would've fallen either internaly or by another great war
Did you see the British Communists in the Sixties?. All they did was refuse to work and sat outside there factory with signs and barrel fires. They were useless.
For the sake of non-embarrassment on the British Revolutionaries behalf, I hope they were a lot better than that XD (If it ever happened)
perfect strategic planing leads germany to have most of mainland europe, large bits of africa and able to help the revolution in russia and the war continues to a standstill where both sides are backrupt in their military and ends with a scesefire and economy slowly kicks back in after a few years and the ussr and germany are friends for the german help during the revolution
other stuff would happen but i'm braindead as i'm typing this
Also I dont think anyone really won WWI that was the problem it was an uneasy treaty which just festered till the inevitable round 2 (HG Wells predicted it and even tried diplomacy to stop it). It bankrupted most of the empires and the flu that swept over Europe towards the end and afterwards killed more than the war did.
Since Germany helped and backed the Bolshevik revolution by smuggling Lennin back into Russia i highly doubt they would have been backing the tzar if they won. They did a very similar thing in Ireland too.
Interesting thoughts though there are a few key times in history when you think what could would have happened if things turned out differently.
Also they threw themselves at the machine guns because if they didnt they would have been shot as traitors esp in the British army.
@captvimes People were shot for Shell shock... Which is basically PTSD.
Its like getting shot for catching Swine Flu. Then again... It was never experienced before. I think the Brits weren't ready for the type of warfare they were experiencing. Machine guns and overwhelming artillery bombardments and all.
@warboss3000 Yes they were shot for suffering from shell shock as well they were ALSO shot for not going over the top. All I am saying is that its easy to say modern people wouldnt throw themselves at a machine gun but given the choice of what many of these poor souls were given you would have little choice.
Nobody was ready for that type of war yes as was shown in the recruitment many were very keen to sign up and the whole "white feather" system to those that didnt.
@rokema2782 if it wasnt for the brits and america the russians would have no food so if we did not have the russians wed have more planes they used the bits and more food it was american food were spam started we could have just destroyed them any even if there was no second front hitler would have made bad destions leading to them loseing the war im tring not to sound bist since im american
You make some really good points. What I also wonder is would Mexico's entry on the side of the Central Powers have led to German victory or would the entry of war have resulted in a victory for the agrarian forces and a pro-Soviet socialist government that would have sided with the Soviets perhaps in WW2 and the Cold War? Interesting questions to ask.
They probably wouldn't have been a Soviet empire if Germany's offensive after Russia left the war because Germany took most of the valuable land in Russia.
What I have heard about the Austria-Hungarian Empire would have collapsed even Germany won because of all the racial tensions. Germany probably wouldn't have been able to launch an invasion of Britain due to the British navy.
There was no good or evil in WWI, only stupidity.
The Kaiser may not have been as nasty as Hitler, but he did have---
This war would eventually cripple Europe, and destroy China. Bet we were all lucky. As much as Europe and Canada hate the United States. We saves all your asses. And the men that did that. Well you should know. They got their nickname "Devil Dogs" from the French. The United States Marine Corps.
@ProudFinn1 Yep america saved our asses the last couple months of the war, where germany had absolutely no attack power, stretched out supply lines, broken trench systems oversused guns and little ammo, yup america really saved europes ass in this one, because its not like france still had about 2 million men at arms, and britain about a million along with all the participating colonies plus a safe supply shipping zone over the atlantic, if america remained out of it Germany still would of lost
@ProudFinn1 Also what major actions did united states participate in www1 aside from argon woods, other than that not much in the history books, the french were set to attack those woods and overun it anyway dickwad, Germany was fucked as of 1918 anyway so don't even try to say america saved anyones ass in ww1 you obviously have no knowledge on the subject, typical americans always have to have their 2 cents, where were they at vimmy, ypre, marnes, verdun, somme, mohns, cambria?
@thedicklick1 Typical foreigner, calling Americans selfish idiots, I am not saying that we won WW1 by ourselves, but we did help a bit you stupid prick
@tippy4674 how about you calm down, when did I say they were selfish idiots? I said they always have to have their two cents, which they always seem to do, and secondly I was stating the obvious fact and im sure if this guy were to tell any European power that "america saved their asses" he would look like an idiot. Im tired of america always claiming so much in history and overshadowing everyone else like its ridiculous all you hear is america in normandy and germany in ww2, but rarely hear of
@tippy4674 any other actions, like Canadians in Italy, the Brits in Africa and parts of asia, although america did participate in this war, they always take it like it was their own war, so like always they waltz in and overshadow everyone else and act like it was all them, same with afghanistan today, once again they walk in there and act like its theres, but in reality we have canadians, germans and even dutch there who are there to clean up their mess.
@thedicklick1 that is stupid people that have no knowledge of history, it was the allied powers not America, don't think everyone in America is like that either, because that would be stereotyping and we can't have that now can we :)
Part two of my thoughts Hitler would start a new campaign against Russia. Resulting in heavy casualtys on both sides. But Gemany eventualy would succed. Since they have all of Europe in their reserves. They'd occupy every nation untill they get to China. Now China might seem big and intimidating. But its still a developing country. this would be a huge war. With even more casualtys.
I don't think Germany would have bothered the US or UK. Because apparently the germans and british didn't have anything against each other, the british just fought the french's war.
There is also a myth about the british and germans playing football together and exchanging gifts on christmas. Or is that true?
TheLidalgo 2 weeks ago
@TheLidalgo that is no myth.

@TheLidalgo You're right, the British were only forced to fight because of allegiance to the French. And yes, that is true.

Germany wasnt even responsible for WW1. Some Serbian idiots thought it was funny to kill the austrian prince, franz ferdinand, which started a war between austria and serbia. germany said, ok were going to help you fighting against serbia and joined the fight. russia wasnt too happy about serbia being attacked, which is why they attacked austria and germany. france proclaimed war on germany. as a response germany attacked france over neutral belgium, which caused the UK to join the fight.
l33tnobody1337 2 months ago
@l33tnobody1337 and because we lost the war we were the idiots. serbia was never punished for all the bullshit they caused.
l33tnobody1337 2 months ago
@l33tnobody1337 The black hand was responsible for Franz's death. The black hand had no affiliation with Serbia. However since the assassin just happened to be Serbian the Austrian-Hungarian's thought they could use it to elevate their position in the Balkans by imposing unreasonable demands (look them up) that would probably make them a puppet state. The Germans indeed did have a part in these demands, Austria-Hungary didn't hand the Serbs their demands until Germany gave the go ahead.
roflrandomguy 2 months ago
Germans wanted colonies that were already divided among Brits, France etc.
If they won that war they would get what they wanted. Austria-Hungary empire would occupy Seerbia and then Greece to reach Egean sea.
1 more thing Austria-Hungary empire was destoryed by Serbs in ww1. Salonica front that ended ww1 was first breached by Serbian army.
Good thing is that old empires already in period of decadency: Germans, Austrians, Turks
They belonged to medieval past and they had to go down.

And because of that, we wouldnt be as careful, and we would be blind sided. Loved the video!
jesUSAves100 5 months ago
For Russia, I think that without any French war in the west, Germany could smash Russia. I could see Russia imploding, but a communist nation would definitely not be allowed by a dominant Germany. The United States would still remain a peripheral player, but I could see their sheer economic influence and potential for power tipping the tide against Germany in any British-German cold war. Japan might have been eclipsed by a rising Germany, who already had a presence in the Pacific.
jesUSAves100 5 months ago
I like your distinction between a 1914 victory at the Marne, or a 1918 Kaiserschlacht victory. For the first one, I almost feel like it would be similar to France's defeat in 1871, and Germany would just gobble up some colonies, which apparently was their main aim. Britain would be a horrible hassle to invade, and I don't think Germany would even bother. I could almost see a kind of cold-war situation developing. The Central Power empires would remain, I think, but only as puppets of Germany.
jesUSAves100 5 months ago
well though germany had lost WW1 most of which that caused hitler to go into power was the fact that the allies punished Germany extremly for WW1 making them pay millions of dollars to the allies and leaving germany in a wreck this caused germay to have a bitter resentment tword the allied powers and made them want revenge

France and RUssia could very well be communist states as well, leading to an earlier war, Spain would probably implode like normal in a civil war, Italy would be different, with no victory vs Germany they'd have no chance for Mussolini to take power, they would however maybe assist France and Russia. but idk i'm just speculating on speculation :D
dryice100 7 months ago
lets say then later on Britain agrees to a truce with Germany, seeing the war of France and Russia against Germany The Brits might instead side with Germany, as long as Germany wouldn't have a party like the Nazis in power and maintain power of their Kaiser, you might end up with another horrible mess.
Assuming this happens, maybe the US would get a little antsy at this point, or potentially assisting France or Britain against the other.
dryice100 7 months ago
OKay so lets say Germany does win ww1, and they take France and Russia. with Britain left in a battle of attrition at sea? Lets say the US remains neutral for whatever reason.
You probably would have a reversal of treaty of versailles, but Germany would struggle to hold down Russia and France at the same time, so i figure there would be at the least unrest in each of these, potentially another war would start with France and Russia wupping Germany stuck in the middle.

Cool speculation.
France & Britain would never have a communist revolution, it's to do with culture, not circumstances. If a time for that emerged, it was the great depression.
Germany would not have invaded Britain or France if they won- but they would take all of France and Britain's colonies.

Also, Germany probably wouldn't blame the war on a specific ally power so they probably won't get dictators. Good question though.

If Germany won ( remember, germany during the ww1 was not like the Nazis in any way, they were more rational?) mebbe the holocaust would been avoided... and depending on what time Germany was able to win,say mebbe before 1917, germany may not need to send lenin, and soviet russia would be avoided

Once France fell, England would ask for an armistice, reducing her navy, and giving up colonies to the Kaiser.

mynameis214365 1 year ago
That's a pretty broad question, and we really can't accurately theorize on what would happen without knowing exactly in what way Germany won. For starters, what are we defining "victory" as, secondly, when would this "victory" occur. If Germany takes France, or Paris, is that it? A lot depends on what the Germans decide to do to follow up on their success in one theater or another.

I don't think another war would necessarily have been averted. The nations within the victorious empires might have seen an opportunity to rise up against their war-weakened oppressors. What we would likely have seen is civil unrest as revolutions took hold across Europe, possibly beyond.

doomsun3 1 year ago
@doomsun3

If Germany had won:
West-, Mid- and Eastern-Europe (except UK & Skandinavia) would have been ruled by a very authoritarian Christian-conservative German/Austrian Kaiser-collaboration making German the lingua franca of continental Europe which eventually would be turned into some kind of smaller EU but more similar to the HRE and without any Holocaust.
30DOTCOM 1 year ago
@30DOTCOM You are wrong about some fact. Russia surrender to Germany after two civil wars. Germany naval fleet was pinned down and couldn't defeat the bigger British fleet. Thus, making a invasion of Great Britain highly unlikely. Meaning Germany wouldn't even have the chance to invade US. US had troop in France already in 1917 but Pershing want to make sure the AEF was well prepared for battles against heavy defend line. The AEF hit the heavy defend German line and face over half the German.
916ppl 1 year ago
@916ppl Russia surrendered to Germany after two revolutions, the civil war happened later and there was only one. Whereas, yes the German fleet was highly outnumbered, having captured France, Germany could easily enforce mass production of ships and train additional crews, since the model of a massive navy already exists, it could be achieved in two years, Germany already being the greatest industrial power at the time.
30DOTCOM 1 year ago
@30DOTCOM No. It consider as civil war. People just like the nicer term "revolution". Germany wasn't the greatest industrial power. US produce almost the same number of military equipment as all the nations in combine in WW1 since 1914, within two years of officially joining the war.

As for the youth, yeah, I don't think we're getting a Warsaw Uprising anytime soon. I'd say 2 in every 15 people would fight for their nation to the end (or fight at all). Most people these days don't give a damn about their country, they'll just move somewhere else if they find trouble.

If they hadnt germany would have conquered all of west Europe with the exception of maybe britain who would of surrendered after it was clear that Germany was going to win. hmm.
Russia surrendered in 1917.

@Goathead82 No Germany wasn't to damaged by it actually and not nessicarily depending on the nation sea wars can or cannot win.

British Communist Revolution?...
Did you see the British Communists in the Sixties?. All they did was refuse to work and sat outside there factory with signs and barrel fires. They were useless.
For the sake of non-embarrassment on the British Revolutionaries behalf, I hope they were a lot better than that XD (If it ever happened)
warboss3000 1 year ago
@warboss3000 i don't think the whole of Britain would've gone into communism

@bh5496 Good point. Still pointing out the British Communists were useless.

how germany would have won
perfect strategic planing leads germany to have most of mainland europe, large bits of africa and able to help the revolution in russia and the war continues to a standstill where both sides are backrupt in their military and ends with a scesefire and economy slowly kicks back in after a few years and the ussr and germany are friends for the german help during the revolution
other stuff would happen but i'm braindead as i'm typing this
aarontaylor94 1 year ago
Also I dont think anyone really won WWI that was the problem it was an uneasy treaty which just festered till the inevitable round 2 (HG Wells predicted it and even tried diplomacy to stop it). It bankrupted most of the empires and the flu that swept over Europe towards the end and afterwards killed more than the war did.
captvimes 1 year ago
Since Germany helped and backed the Bolshevik revolution by smuggling Lennin back into Russia i highly doubt they would have been backing the tzar if they won. They did a very similar thing in Ireland too.
Interesting thoughts though there are a few key times in history when you think what could would have happened if things turned out differently.
Also they threw themselves at the machine guns because if they didnt they would have been shot as traitors esp in the British army.
captvimes 1 year ago
@captvimes People were shot for Shell shock... Which is basically PTSD.
Its like getting shot for catching Swine Flu. Then again... It was never experienced before. I think the Brits weren't ready for the type of warfare they were experiencing. Machine guns and overwhelming artillery bombardments and all.
warboss3000 1 year ago
@warboss3000 Yes they were shot for suffering from shell shock as well they were ALSO shot for not going over the top. All I am saying is that its easy to say modern people wouldnt throw themselves at a machine gun but given the choice of what many of these poor souls were given you would have little choice.
Nobody was ready for that type of war yes as was shown in the recruitment many were very keen to sign up and the whole "white feather" system to those that didnt.

Part three
This war would eventually cripple Europe, and destroy China. Bet we were all lucky. As much as Europe and Canada hate the United States. We saves all your asses. And the men that did that. Well you should know. They got their nickname "Devil Dogs" from the French. The United States Marine Corps.
ProudFinn1 1 year ago
@ProudFinn1 Yep america saved our asses the last couple months of the war, where germany had absolutely no attack power, stretched out supply lines, broken trench systems oversused guns and little ammo, yup america really saved europes ass in this one, because its not like france still had about 2 million men at arms, and britain about a million along with all the participating colonies plus a safe supply shipping zone over the atlantic, if america remained out of it Germany still would of lost
thedicklick1 1 year ago
@ProudFinn1 Also what major actions did united states participate in www1 aside from argon woods, other than that not much in the history books, the french were set to attack those woods and overun it anyway dickwad, Germany was fucked as of 1918 anyway so don't even try to say america saved anyones ass in ww1 you obviously have no knowledge on the subject, typical americans always have to have their 2 cents, where were they at vimmy, ypre, marnes, verdun, somme, mohns, cambria?
thedicklick1 1 year ago
@thedicklick1 Typical foreigner, calling Americans selfish idiots, I am not saying that we won WW1 by ourselves, but we did help a bit you stupid prick
tippy4674 1 year ago
@tippy4674 how about you calm down, when did I say they were selfish idiots? I said they always have to have their two cents, which they always seem to do, and secondly I was stating the obvious fact and im sure if this guy were to tell any European power that "america saved their asses" he would look like an idiot. Im tired of america always claiming so much in history and overshadowing everyone else like its ridiculous all you hear is america in normandy and germany in ww2, but rarely hear of
thedicklick1 1 year ago
@tippy4674 any other actions, like Canadians in Italy, the Brits in Africa and parts of asia, although america did participate in this war, they always take it like it was their own war, so like always they waltz in and overshadow everyone else and act like it was all them, same with afghanistan today, once again they walk in there and act like its theres, but in reality we have canadians, germans and even dutch there who are there to clean up their mess.
thedicklick1 1 year ago
@thedicklick1 that is stupid people that have no knowledge of history, it was the allied powers not America, don't think everyone in America is like that either, because that would be stereotyping and we can't have that now can we :)
tippy4674 1 year ago 2
@ProudFinn1 they didn't get it from the french it was the Germans that gave them that nickname it was Teufel Hunden
tippy4674 1 year ago
Part two of my thoughts Hitler would start a new campaign against Russia. Resulting in heavy casualtys on both sides. But Gemany eventualy would succed. Since they have all of Europe in their reserves. They'd occupy every nation untill they get to China. Now China might seem big and intimidating. But its still a developing country. this would be a huge war. With even more casualtys.
