A steamer - anything with holes that sits above a little water in a pot. Give it two-three mins works wonders for day-old idlies or rice. Or place it in the pressure cooker without weight for few mins. Been here long enough and don't own a microwave. :)
wow!!! the kitchen towel really works very well.i used to sprinkle a lil water but that tends to make the rice soggy. but ur mthd is impeccable!! thx for the handy tip ladies.
I have seen all of your videos and there isn't a single video in which your friend (Anuja) hasn't used the word "Fanastic". As for you my friend..please throw out that lipstick color. I love your show...keep up the good work. ;)
You can re-heat rice in a non-stick pan on the stove also. Put the rice in the pan and add a little bit of water. Just enough to lightly moisten it. It shouldn't be submerged or anything like that. Then stir it gently so the water gets distributed properly. Heat on medium to low for a few minutes.
I've never had Idlis before but I love the tips as I never know exactly what to do with left-over rice. Great tips, thank you so much. I'll be using that paper towel trick from now on.
The new quality is great by the way! The sound has also improved, I can hear everything so clearly :)
hey great tip guys....i reheat the chapatis the same way...i wet a paper towel and wrap the chapati in it and microwave for like 10 seconds and its like freshly done....
You can use a dhokla stand if you have it or please see our Sooji Dhokla video for an alternative to a dhokla stand. Your idli will not be the nice round shape, but will taste the same. If you'd like to purchase an idli maker, please see our Kitchen Store on our website - ShowMeTheCurry (dot) com.
yummy idli! I love to dip them in sambhar :) Hetal and Anuja, do you have a good vagharelo bhat recipe? I just make it like my mom does, mustard seeds, jeeroo, garlic, green chilis...i was wondering if you have a better recipe, the plain ol' Gujju vagharelo bhat get boring :) thnx

Totally off topic: Your earrings are great, Anuja.
I always steamed my leftover rice in a chicken fryer. The microwave would be far better for a smaller amount. Thanks for the tip.
