If you're talking about the guy who said "SEE YA!" I don't think that was the conductor. I think that was the Chief of Onboard Services, because he's wearing a suit. They were in charge of all the train attendants, while the conductors were in charge of tickets and operation of the train.
Now these days that conductor would be taking outta service in the blink of an eye.
