Is this really happening?!?! Why in the blue hell do u have a cornerback backpedaling with someone holding a ball running TOWARDS him?!?! If someone in front of you has a ball, you need to be exploding up into them to make the tackle. Where do they find these people?!

@ratedMVPtv naw man thats not a scenario thier trying to teach them, to backpeddle when the ball carrier is approaching, thier just doin a cover drill, like covering the reciever, one guy just has the ball because thier trying to work in ballhandling, which has nothing to do with the cover part

@chocolatethundaish If thats the case, the offensive guy shouldnt have the ball in his hands. Thats an unrealistic drill which in turn makes it pointless. Drills are supposed to be small simulations of game like situations. At no point in time are u gonna backpedal from the ball carrier as hes running toward you so why do it in a drill??

@ratedMVPtv yea thats a good point, but thier not attempting to simulate a ballcarier, at all, the offensive guy is just a WR running his route, the DB has to keep up with him, and they just so happen to be tossing the ball to each other, for hands i guess. Its kinda like thier squeezing 2 drills into one in order to time efficient, but personally I wouldnt have my players doing that if I was old enough to coach

@godsmackya yea, run hard and dont be afraid to lay some wood. as a cb, you should be the most physical members of the secondary, work hard in the weightroom, and show your coach your not afraid to hit

That second drill isn't that great. IF your going to make a break on a ball, there is not a damned pole you will either run your back into or have to manuever over or across. that would put even more challenge to get to the ball if you bounce off the pole because it destroys your balance and DB posture... Cones would work a lot better, and if they want to keep a low angle when backpedaling, find another resource for that...
