@srbalthis - you are so right. I will never FORGET the ATROCITY that was the Lex Express in 1993-94 when Vince McMahon tried shoving him down our throats. Even after most of the fans let the then-WWF know that we preferred Bret Hart to Luger.
The comment about Luger being good when he was with great opponents was true...he was a star much more for his looks and physique rather than his wrestling skills
Lugar looked great when he had great opponents. It took me years to realize that. Ric Flair, Rick Steamboat, Sting, Dusty Rhodes all carried Lex to great matches and made him look good. Lex was strong and powerful and had the look of a world champion, but he didn't sell out buildings. The Lex Express Promotion Campaign that WWF did was a flop. The Narcissist Character was a Flop. Lugar seemed to be at his best as a bad guy.
Lex got pushed to hard and to fast. WHat was it two weeks after debuting he won the belt? Shame he showed some flashes of being good. He just never really became the total package.

Flair, Steamboat, Windham and even to an extent Sting but Dusty could not carry anybody to a good match- their Starrcade 1987 match was awful
