Thank you for uploading. Oh yes, I join the "memories" of all the other comments here. What a great music culture back in the days. Fantastic sound systems and DJs with a great selection of creative music, music made by musicians and not machines like today. We enjoyed the music and we were really in heaven. It was the best time in my life. I could cry out my soul hearing tunes like this.
So, I am sitting here with goosebumps all over chills running up and down my spine overflowing with memories of the Fri & Sat nights I spent groovin to this jam at the Paradise Garage..everybody partied, got along no matter what color or race, straight , gay, young old....Happy Times! ..I miss those days ...only if you experienced it can you relate! YES! Those were the days.. greatest of memories, Best of times! PEACE!

@djisfan Thank you for the upload and the memories!!!!!!
@2009Denisem. Paradise Garage was my home since the opening. I moved to Calif. and flew home for the closing party. And you are so right, everyone got along and Sat. was the night to be there!! So many great memories and I will forever love the greatest DJ of all times...Love and miss you Larry.
I remember waiting outside of the Paradise Garage trying to get someone to let me get in with there membership and this song playing inside and all i could think is I have to check this club out, once I got in and walked up the ramp pass the array of fruits and punch only to run into so friends popping some tabs, the rest of the night was history, Larry Levan having sex with some dude in the DJ booth for his birthday, shit like that you never forget, I was 16 with a fake id, he was the greatest!

Driving in NYC heading out to the clubs in the early 80's and listening to this. Thinking about the girls that we would run into that night. Priceless. Hello Gladys from Brooklyn. How can i ever forget you
Everyone has different memories of the time and place where they enjoyed this great tune by Jimmy Ross. All of them wonderful and in many different places the world over. This reminds me of the Paradise Garage, 1980 if I'm correct. It was a while ago but what a great place and time in history IMO. The atmosphere was soo special and it cannot be reproduced ever. They went too fast.
One of my co-workers, a friend of her's and I went on a date one Friday night after work, in the summer of 1981, to club "Justines." It was my first time hearing this song and it was hot from the get-go. DJ Reggie Wells, was playing it at club "Justines" in New York City, through-out the night. My co-worker and I danced all night. Oh yeah. What a wonderful evening. Bronx, New York City.
REAL OLD SCHOOL,99.1,92.3,AND POWER 106 SHOULD PLAY THIS EVERYDAY,I ONLY USE TO HEAR THIS FROM DJ HARO,NOW I COULD HEAR IT FROM YOUTUBE.KEEP ON POSTING OR PLAYING GOOD JAMS ON YOUTUBE.
@11319751 Yep radio stations around Chicago only play cuts like this at odd times for maybe 15 min and I never catch it. Thinking about doing a justin.tv show ALL OLD SCHOOL!!
Wow I'm back in college every time I hear this awesome song. I look out on the dance floor at the big hair, pretty faces, short low-stack boots, tight jeans and say ..."How's everybody feel tonight?".... Ahhh the memories.
when I hear this song it brings me back to rollerskating at the Riverdale Skating Rink , Bronx New York on the summer of 1980. Wow ! unforgatable days at the age of 22.
I'm still surprised that when I visit this video the comments keep on comming. It realy amuses me to see that even though the song came out in the 80s, people still listen to his music and most of all enjoy it.
I'm glad he left his "mark" on all of you, because he sure did on me.
So, all I can say is ... enjoy his music and I appreciate all the nice comments!
Another example of a NY producer making the singer. In this case Larry Levan of the Paradise Garage, and the city that brought you house, rap, hip hop, electro, etc.
Oh yeah......I can remember sitting on my stoop in Brooklyn as a 10 year old with a boombox playing this on cassette. I always thought it was some New York disco outfit because it was such an urban sounding regional smash hit but found out later that it was written and produced in Italy by a couple of Italians who listened to a little too much Chic.
THIS SONG HAS SUCH A UNIQUE EFFECT TO IT...IT TOTALLY SEPARATED ITSELF FROM EVERYTHING THAT WAS OUT AROUND THE TIME THIS SONG WAS RELEASE.... BASS....GUITAR.....SYNTH.... PICK ONE, TWO,OR ALL THREE =GUMBO FUNK....!!!!!!
@bruceleroyjones1 This is one of them songs you gotta blast, you cant listen to it no other way.I got a feelin Nile Rodgers had something to do with this joint Am I right anybody?
@mookeychase0907 no, he had nothing to do with it. it was entirely written and recorded in Milan, Italy. Writer and keyboard player is Stefano Pulga of Kano, bass by Dino D'Autorio.
I remember misplacing this record (someone stole it) and I went to Vinyl Mania in the village to replace it...(Hopefully) And when I asked Manny Lehman if he had this record he replied "why would you want to buy such a sad song" WHAT? IT IS A CLASSIC!!!! none the less he did not have a copy.....so I never replaced it....Thank you Mr. Youtube....ha ha
i downloaded this mp3 from the vjsinc website (aka virtual-jams website, as written) , in the fulltime records category. that is the label that originally put this record out (and where rfc got it)
I alwaus listen to this maserpiece every time i gotta dumps, it props and cheer me up, helps me go ahead and think better things are expecting me. I gotta answer Joe, thank u for your answer
this record "first true love affair wasd released in 1981 if you listen closely his voice is very similiar to another familiar singer...jimmy "bo "horne
I love this jam...back in da days when I use 2 go rollerskating cause I was too young 2 go into a club... but always had fun til da day came dat I started going to clubs in NYC and after that is All She Wrote... I was all over da place...LOL
Now this is music...CLASSSIC!!! What great memories of back in the day...Everyone partied together no matter what color or race we all got along and looked out for each other..Dam..I wish I could turn back the hands of time...I miss this music and all my friends from back in the day...But we will keep this music alive, Keep Sharing...Keep Singing...
So do I Lol This song is so groovy and also it has a sound of its own and well put together with the vocals perfectly well placed I get the goose bumps all the time since i went to high school when this classic exploded on the radio as well as the clubs. The arrangement is so well done after hearing it again it just gets better like wine and good grass Lol.
This really takes me back. I'm now in my early 40's I remember hearing this on the radio (WBLS) while getting ready for school in the morning. The beat is sick. I love this track.
@4U2NVB I'm in my early 40's too, and I remember this on the mix, not getting ready for school, but when me and my family used to play WBLS weekend mix-I forgot who used to be the dj then just before the Mr. Magic days on BLS. You are right! The beat is SICK! This is a timeless song!
@4U2NVB Me To Still Feel This Song...I Expect To Hear Frankie Crocker @ Anytime...If Frankie Crocker isn't On Your Radio Then Your Radio Isn't Really On...
Frankie Crockers In the House He Can Get two Pieces...LOL
at 17 i heard this song first time, knew no name or singer. now i´m 48 and spent half my life trying to find or hear it again. thanks to the internet, got it just remembering "1st true love affair"
Pint?
Didn't know this floated thee boat... Many facets, many facets...

Hi all, it's Clement again. Sorry that I answer so late :s
The man on the cover is indeed my father. It was in the "80's so I think he was around the age of 46.
He hasn't brought out an autobio but I'd like to write one myself.
I have definatly heard of some of those songs he has recorded with Ladbroke.
To Baptone, It's good to know people still listen to his music, I hope he can keep on entertaining you

Always liked this song; it reminds me of Kano ("I'm Ready") and early Change. Was this recorded in Italy, by any chance?
