Blame. I can certainly relate to your story about Vietnam. I did see the US army of the time first hand. Unfortunately there were massive problems. For one thing most of the junior officers knew nothing. They didn't even know what a mil was or how to read a map!! These were artillery officers. The only ones who seemed to know what they were doing were the black soldiers, and there was complete segregation with a black army and a white one. I was also surpised at how many Japanese were there too.
What years were you in? Do your troops and the Aussies still work together? You still call it Anzac Day but I don't know if your military forces still team up. Do you still use the SLRs?
Blame. Yes. I was in the army from 1969-1975. We did use SLRs - good rifles. We were issued with M16s too, but didn't like them. The NZ army tended to work more with the US than the Australians at the time. There is an Anzac spirit and the Australians and New Zealanders have a lot in common.
I lke that SLR. It is solid and fires smoothly compared to the M-14. It's a bit heavy though. I didn't like the M-16 becuase it's short. It felt like I was trying to fire a 12 inch ruler. The newer versions have the adjustable stocks.
Blame. We always thought of the M16 as "Tonka toys". The SLR was heavy, but if you felt up to it, you carried round a GPMG (gympie). I left that job the Jeff (nicknamed muscles). Years ago I saw an episode of Steve Irwin's show where he came across the remains of a US WWII bomber that had crashed in the Outback. Blame. I can certainly relate to your story about Vietnam. I did see the US army of the time first hand. Unfortunately there were massive problems. For one thing most of the junior officers knew nothing. They didn't even know what a mil was or how to read a map!! These were artillery officers. The only ones who seemed to know what they were doing were the black soldiers, and there was complete segregation with a black army and a white one. I was also surpised at how many Japanese were there too.

Blame. Yes. I was in the army from 1969-1975. We did use SLRs - good rifles. We were issued with M16s too, but didn't like them. The NZ army tended to work more with the US than the Australians at the time. There is an Anzac spirit and the Australians and New Zealanders have a lot in common.

I lke that SLR. It is solid and fires smoothly compared to the M-14. It's a bit heavy though. I didn't like the M-16 becuase it's short. It felt like I was trying to fire a 12 inch ruler. The newer versions have the adjustable stocks.

Blame. We always thought of the M16 as "Tonka toys". The SLR was heavy, but if you felt up to it, you carried round a GPMG (gympie). I left that job the Jeff (nicknamed muscles). I thought most of the US soldiers were useless at the time - mind you us Kiwis were too. I think the only difference was that we drank more beer. The VC were smart. They always targetted the beer tent - now that's a real war crime. Fancy blowing up the beers! It disgusts me so much. How could any enemy be that evil.

I eventually learned to tell the difference between a Kiwi accent and Aussie. If you jump in the water and you are an Aussie you are "wet" if you are a Kiwi you are "wit". "Sex" is "Six". And so on. I rmember back in the 80s the Kiwis told the Yanks to pound sand when we wanted to dock one of our nuke powered war ships. That was ballsy. I've admired NZ ever since.

Years ago I saw an episode of Steve Irwin's show where he came across the remains of a US WWII bomber that had crashed in the Outback. He didn't make a huge deal of it but it was nice to see him take the time to thank the Americans. FDR made America great. I don't know how we ended up with a party like the GOP.

As for the Fort Hood situation, I hope they can sort it out. They army is made up of all sorts of individuals. It must be difficult for them to sort out situations like Iraq, especially if the soldier is affected by the situation. I am trying to say that it must be difficult for muslims at the moment. The best way is not to place them in this situation.

The army needs to know why it happened, even if there was a conflict because of his religion. If there was, most people will understand this. It is only natural. A similar situation is Catholic soliders having to fight in Northern Ireland. I am sure that the army is very aware of such "conflicts of interest:".

He could have advised the soldiers that they were helping the muslim people in Iraq. If there was something wrong in the army's approach, he is in an ideal position to change it from within. Given that Mr. Obama is in charge, I am sure that he is all ears, if any good approach is found. The army after all is changing all the time.

In the early 90s I wrote a paper on the first Gulf War in which I proposed the US was squandering resources by maintaining operational capacity at levels far beyond that which we needed and for which we had mandate. As you can imagine my paper was not well received.

I am guessing that as he was helping men with "issues" over there, he would not have had to fight. I think it is fair enough to expect men to go into a war zone. My uncle did not want to kill people during WW2, so they made him an ambulance driver.

I think any event like this is a result of a "perfect storm" of circumstances. What people are missing her was that the person firing the weapon was a major of the army. That is the equivalent of a full lieutenant commander in the navy!! It is a very very high ranking. It is unlikely that any soldier would dare fire on any high ranking officer.

Frog was the term first coined in Vietnam. A buddy of mine was Air Mobil in Vietnam. He was squad leader when they got a new LT fresh out of ROTC. The guy insisted on using trails while patrolling. My buddy made such a pain in the ass out of himself the LT kicked him off patrol that night and rotated a younger guy in as squad leader. That night 3 guys were killed on the trail. The night after that the LT took a hot round through the back of his head moments after patrol started.

Blame. Sounds reasonable to me. I was always taught in the army to take advice from your experienced men. I am not too sure what a squad is. We had sections in the NZ army, and they were eight men made up of the leader (corporal), four riflemen, gunner, two scouts and the deputy (lance corporal). a new second lieutenant would certainly take notice of an experienced section leader. He would even be told specifically to do this by the colonel who assigned him.

Christians are the most murderous, greedy, dishonest, hateful and hypocritical cretins to pollute planet Earth. They whine about god given free will but try to force their lunacy (Intelligent design) on the public school system. They talk endlessly about the virtues of forgiveness and cheer for the murder of half a million Iraqis after 9-11 even though they were in no way involved. They claim theyre charitable but fight health care reform content to leave 60 million American with no care.

God promises (foresaw) there will be false Christians among us (us Christians) and He promises He will do the dividing of the true from the false. He promises there will be hypocrites among us and that because of them we would be badly spoken of. Try to get to know a true Christian ... and read the bible with an open mind and heart. Seek and you will find (the truth)!

People who have not been truly born again but "speak the lingo and claim they are Christians" are just trying to (or trying to look like they are) follow/ing the laws and instructions in the bible and they basically belong to a "Christian" social club. They are no better off, or in a worse state, than someone who denies God and criticizes Christianity or Jesus.
You either criticize Christians out of ignorance, wrong information, or anger because the Word of God convicts you of your sin

You know if you read the bible and get the gist of it, it is around God's laws and makes perfect sense when analyzed according to a legal perspective. Jesus also said :"Many will come in my name. Do not believe them." And He tells us how to recognize them. There is a way to discern/judge if someone is a truly born again Christian.
