cant find a full album of the unforgettable fire on here... that is their most underrated, and my favorite album, this and auchtung my next favorite...
The opening track was almost deleted, it took them half the time in the studio just to get the song right. It's seems so effortless now, but at the time it was a nightmare. Thankfully they believed in the music enough to give us this "classic"
Ollie, this is the best channel I have ever found on youtube, some great albums on here, you are doing a brilliant job, thanks. This album is my U2 favourite, great songs to start, then mellows and makes you think what they are trying to say in their quieter songs to end.
I found out recently that 'Where The Streets Have No Name' refers to streets in Ireland that define what your economic level is, and people judge you based on what street you live on. Ironically, Bono can live on any street he wants because he is so stinking rich.
@sstyblo Having been to Ireland several times over the years, YES Davidlovins is correct!!!!!! The streets and areas are the same as in the US.. there's the poor side of town and the ritzy areas.
I would like to make y'all aware of a quirky new music book entitled 'You Are A Tube!' by Steven Fried PLC which contains literally thousands of YouTube comments.
@Maskedfreakinabox when it was out, it seemed like every other house you passed had this album blaring out the windows...i agree, with your comment too.
@Netlocd more like a healthy shade more than a quarter step, coming from a musician with an excellent ear. Frankly, I love the pitch adjust...I love even tuning my guitars higher than the "standard" note...it sounds awesomer to me. I love how this album was put on YT, personally. But yes...to avoid trouble, it was adjusted. Just enjoy it, I say. :)
the only album i like better than this one from u2 is achtung baby..

@DavidLovins67 As in heaven right??Not like he's purely singing about poor/undefined streets in Ireland but alluding to heaven yes? Assumption..

If you ask me, this is U2's defining album, their best. It is to U2 what Dark Side was to Pink Floyd.

The intro of 'Where the Streets Have No Name' always remind me to the endtune of Mr. Bean :)
Donnasbroeikas 1 month ago
It is an octave higher. The poster probably did that to avoid copyright issues (being taken down) with Universal or Youtube.

Is it just me, or is this an octave higher than what it should be? XD
