Thats the thing about nutritionists. Its like claiming to be a 'scientician'. A person who is a professional expert in human diet is called a dietician, and it is illegal to call yourself one unless you have a recognised qualification and actually know what you are doing. However 'nutritionist' doesnt mean anything, so anyone can say they are one. If ever you meet a nutritionist, ask why they arent a dietician. That should shut them up.
This is a very funny clip. However, Dietitians and nutrionists are very different things. By asking a nutritionist why they arent a dietitian, this wouldn't shut them up, they would just tell you the dietitians focus on counting calories and have a very specific scientific approach where as nutritionist have a holistic approach and focus on the individual.
but dieticians do look at a person hollistically. infact all medical proffesions (reputable ones) treat at a person hollistically, it means they consider various causes and elemtents to assessing and treating a personjust rather than taking one dogmatic view point
@bratfull Dieticians (note spelling) have to go to college and are generally less full of bullshit than nutritionists, because they work with other qualified medical professionals so they have to know what they are talking about. "Holistic approach" is a meaningless woo-woo phrase and anyway, a dietician is more "holistic" because they work with other specialists and know more about underlying conditions by co-operating with them.
Yes, like the difference between 'paramedic' (protected term, illegal to say you are one if you are not) and 'faith healer' (anyone and everyone can put it on a business card).
"Have you tried telling her we all smell of off milk to the Japanese?" Brilliant. (I was told we all smell like rancid butter to the Koreans... I suppose it's about the same thing.)
I can see an entire DVD in the works that concentrates on laughable woo.
I would buy 100 of them, and give them away at these "Mind, Body, Spirit, Wallet" festivals that are popular with the naive gullible uneducated unscientific illogical lazy thinking dreamers.
But it is 'more needed' than HA&E because many people, who can see that homoeopathy is rubbish, still fall for what they think is science-based advice. Note the comment about appearing on a TV show; media people are right behind this scam!

anyone can claim to be a nutritionist because nutritionists are not certified scientists and don't require a degree

While I agree with you, this isn't a IT Crowd reference I think. Most IT professionals will ask this first. I should know: My father is one.
