I don't think anyone is "judging" her here but we are trying to point out here is that the Samoan culture is to be cherished with importance, conduct and manner and as I was watching this video it almost seemed that the Taupou was not interested, did not understand the meaning behind the taupou and the taualuga but also didn't understand how she was the representative for the entire village of Leone.

No disrespect - we're simply pointing out some flaws to reflect on in future.

How disappointing to see an Afatasi who seems to have no interest in her performance what so ever dance the Taualuga.

This has brought shame on the village of Leone and the family title she represents - E le malie, E mataga, E paie'e ma e le fataue...

I come from Sa'anapu and in Sa'anapu in order for a Taupou to perform she has to understand the meaning behind the Taualuga and the influence she has on the village of representation.

It's about culture and tradition - the Fa'asamoa.

the taupou is the Le Afioga a Tuitele Fofo Tony Tuitele's niece, she is Lepeti's daughter. She is a taupou for Tuitele. She lives in SFO, but came to Am. Samoa just to taualuga the Leone Village faafiafiaga...So, never mind the muimui, and the talk, tele le lotoleaga o tagata o lenei lalolagi...ga'o le mapugipugi lava o kou gutu ma o e feosofi ile sami.

As you can see she is not full Samoan so obviously she doesn't dance a Taualuga like a Samoan does and She is from S.F maybe this is her first time getting in touch with her roots....Regardless of what anybody says this girl is beautiful from her Head Dress "Tuiga" down to her Fine Mat "Ie Toga"...all she needs is some siva lessons and she'll be as graceful as them other girls.....but don't put her down...show some respect and love for her.....Keep it up girl!!!! keep reppin that Faa Samoa!!!!!

Stop talkin about her not being graceful. It's not her fault! It's due to her grandfather being TUITELE (a high chief title holder) she has to because that's the SAMOAN custom! Each high chief has a TAUPOU or PRINCESS, & when things like, such as FLAG DAYS & other important things, she will end any entetainment that the village puts on! Oh yes one more question. I hardly was accepted by the Samoans at my schools. I mean I am 4'11 (Filipino height), light skin with straight and I mean straight black hair (Okinawan, Filipino in me). I do not speak Samoan but I can pick it up real quick when I listen. Is it me or what? Why didn't they ever accept me? I am proud to be Samoan bur some of them are not real nice towards me..

yes it did. the person leading the dance, Maiava, has some Tokelau in him, the style of their dances and their clothing was influenced indeed by him. There is a tokelau influence in Leone.

Also, if you do decide to move over here be prepared, my house has been broken into 2 times since I have been here and my car has been broken into once. I had to get a dog just so no one would break into my house any more. And if you like dogs this place will break your heart. Dogs just run around and a lot have been hit by cars and no one takes them to the vet to be treated so they just limp around. Some have manged, it is very sad.

I have lived in American Samoa for about 2 years and it sucks. The island may be beautiful but the people are the rudest you will ever meet, very racist. The government is very corrupt and it is very expensive. Cost of living is very high and the pay sucks, even with a college degree. Min wage is around $3 an hour. Most of the houses look like they are about to fall over. Thank god I leave in 2 months. I will never come back here again!!!!

Actually, the minimum wage is lower then that. You can complain about a lot of things there, the list goes on. I just got back from visiting Tutuila, Upolu, && Sava'i. If I had to choose, I'd stick with Upolu && Sava'i. I don't like how the locals of AmSamoa some sag their pants. They're catching on to another Afro-culture. I didn't see much of racism there.
