Most of these videos have continuity errors and are staged training videos used in the classroom. Manchester XCARS was one such package the police decided to make a bit of money from. People start and finish chases in different cars in RoadWars! They also read registrations from a mile away, very strange the way they try and fool people. It's NOT real !

Indeed, these Road Wars officers are the elite of the elite; only last week, in Essex, they arrested and detained three daffodils, eight ladybirds and a mushroom! The ladybirds had to be tazered as they attacked one of the officers with a pair of old womans pants, and then beat the other officer over the head with an empty crisp packet...salt and vinegar apparently! Yes, these officers are tough! Essex is safer for having them patrol the streets!

We've been inundated with a series of police shows in recent years. If you've got Sky there is rarely a minute of the day when one isn't playing where it's Roadwars or Streetcrime UK, Brit Cops etc etc. It's essentially regular state control of the viewer.

Some of these coppers on Road Wars are simply legalised thugs. There's a fat bastard called Waller who thinks he is Rambo and is really obnoxious, mostly he picks on kids and people who don't know the law. Another one, I think he's called Jim, big, bald and brainless - he blows bubbles from chewing bubble gum (like a sily schoolboy) whilst he's driving. The best way of dealing with these bullies is to know your law - oh, and being middle-class helps a lot.

wolf9000: Yes of course I have watched it otherwise how would I know the names? Most of the police officers come across as arrogant, bullying and smug. This show must alienate more young and especailly ethnic people against the police than any other show. I am law abiding but find the police attitude disgusting and they often use OTT violence coupled with gratuitous aggression.

I am not a cop but when you think that a driver takes off from them in the uk today the guy could have a gun knifes anything so if they smash the windows to make the guy think whats that instead of going for a weapon I am ok with that plus you have to remember how many people these guys that take off could and nearly kill with the way they drive but really trust me if you start quoting you know more about the law to a cop you will lose everytime if you have not done anything you are ok simple

Policing in the real world is not like this. You won't be driving around chasing criminals in a high performance BMW all day.

Be prepared for tons of paperwork and lots of political correctness, health and safety, etc.

As long as you know what to expect when you join you should be fine. I see loads of young people join up who quit soon after before it's not what they expected.

You shouldn't join the police based on a TV show.

Mate dont worry, im not bothered. Ive almost completed a business course at uni, and by god is the paper work a load. Especially with H&S and regulation laws for businesses. Ive always wanted to be in the police. and i know in a typical shift you do about 1 hours tour of duty whilst the 5 hours after could be paperwork. Im fully aware tho. your comment however is good, and would help point out to those reading these what its like. im about to join Newcastle's special constables :)

apoc, where is the evidence? secondly, because of the government and home office we have to fill in paperwork to be submitted and kept on record... we could cut the hour of paperwork down if we had appointed people to do the details that arent needed by the witnesses (us, or public). mate, i'd like many of my future colleagues would LOVE to be trudging around in the streets and in our cars... trust me... its not only more exciting but far more interesting, you know very little obviously.

Well these people are fully trained professionals and their job is to manage and have full control of their vehicle at all times.
