to add to my last comment....it's interesting/sad/scary to think about what would've happened. say they decide to break up after the next album or two...and knowing that justice wouldn't have happened, or we at least know it would've been completely different. think of all the metallica music we'd miss out on, to swap it for music we have no idea what quality it would've been(with cliff). i think it was destiny to be honest, i think it was 'supposed' to happen. like cliff was the angel of metal
@specimen25 I was around when Justice came out. Man it was the shit..groundbreaking!!!! Garage days about the same time and then Hangar 18 from Megadeth. DAMN that was an exciting time.
I have a plan that might work. Every day until the end of February (longer if you want) we will watch "Enter Sandman" by Metallica. We need to celebrate Metallica with what they deserve: the highest viewed video on youtube. If you like this idea, copy and paste on every video where you know there are Metallica fans.Metallica Turns 30 this year!Rock on!
You ever think of how different the world would be if Randy Rhoads, Cliff Burton, John Bonham, Jimi Hendrix and even Janice Joplin and to a point(a small one) Jim Morrison were still alive? The only reason I dont include Dime in this list is because he most assuredly made his mark on music.
@vonkiser don't forget elvis, i think about that stuff all the time. i think metallica would still have released albums similar to the black and load albums, cuz cliff loved to experiment with music and he liked alot of other genres(even classical). but i also think 'would we still have 'justice', would 'one' have been written?' maybe they go in a completely different direction besides alternative and thrash, maybe they come up with some new style that doesn't exist? maybe metallica breaks up...
@specimen25 Yea Elvis as well. Hell for that matter Ritchie Valens? He was just getting started when he got killed. Janis? damn can you imagine? The list goes on my friend...
think how many times they had told how the accident happened with Cliff. I mean, I'm in tears to hear them say it, but having to worry about it and relate everything multiple times can not have been easy for them. all respect to Metallica. Love 'em all! ♥
i find it funmny how they skipped the whole ride the lightning record but when master of puppets is describe what song do they use in the middle of the fucking thing ????? fucking VH1
it's a shame how little recognition dave gets for all his work on the first few albums. Id love to meet all the ppl who think that four horsemen wasn't his idea
only kill em all and ride the lightning....and the most stuff is by james anyway....i mean james is just a f*cking freak of a songwriter....he makes guitar riffs as there were nothing
@MrMalf Still, listen to ride the lightning. I bought that album a few days ago and when i listened to the title track the first thing that I thought of was "holy crap this sounds exactly like what Dave writes" and sure enough, he co-wrote it. Im not saying that these guys arent good or that they cant write but it's sounds like a Megadeth song that was sung by Hetfield. Personally, i like megadeth more, Metallica just doesnt have an album that catches me as much as Peace sells or Rust in Peace
Ah, I am not sure about that. I would for sure say different. I would say Dave's playing is a bit more complex, but I like Kirk's style. I play, and I think both are good, but I dig Kirk's style a bit more. I guess it is a personal choice thing.
I listen to ride the lightning... And yes Mustaine wrote some of the songs on 'kill em all and Ride the lightning... but he wrote the songs before the kill em all album and when they kicked him (before 'kill em all) they used some of his songs for the album tho Mustaine said that they wasn't allowed to use his stuff..
ya all the first thrash bands did (metallica, slayer, megadeath, anthrax) mainly cus people thought they were punk because of their playing wich was uncommon at the time u know?
Agreed. Ride the Lightning is my favorite Metallica album because it represents a stepping stone between Metallica's heavy thrash (Kill Em All) and their progressive stuff (Master of Puppets and And Justice for All).
Yeah, especially since he found a drummer in John 'Bonzo' Bonham ( Led Zeppelin), a backup singer in Robbie Van Zant (Lynyrd Skynyrd), a guitarist in Steve Gaines (Lynyrd Skynyrd), and another backup singer in Cassie Gaines (Lynyrd Skynyrd) already.
God & Jesus' band must be epic. Now all they need now is Ozzy...but we won't let em' have him... >_>
And God also need some Drum and vocal lessons on September 25 1980 with John Bonham and on November 24th 1991 he needed vocal lessons with Freddie Mercury
