Currently the marine corps isnt taking many prior service from another branch unless they go for a SF contract after boot and at that usually only if they have prior sf experience.

I am so proud of him. I had no idea what the Marines would do for him and the values he would embrace as his own. Marines are smart, well trained, and unwavering in their patriotism. I know he is in for a career. My fears get smaller with each passing year. ooorah.

The recruits in boot camp will start running once they form into a platoon and receive their Drill Instructors, usually within the first week. then it's daily with lots of physical strength exercises. The average run is 3 miles

During WWII the Army got the brand new M1 Garand over year prior to the marines.
