Yeeeah, im 15, and our generation is not all bad. I mean come on. The White Stripes, Bright Eyes, The Dead Weather, The Black Keys, Radiohead, Neutral Milk Hotel.... I could name a lot. Point is, we are no better than the previous generations, for us, we just have to look deeper. Just appreciate music for what it is. Art.
I'm 14 and I'm just here to listen to music, not boast about how I don't listen to today's pop. Also, stupid, pointless internet arguments are fun, too.
Why do people keep mentioning Justin Bieber in comments about Led Zeppelin? You wouldn't bring up Barbara Cartland whilst discussing Shakespeare would you?
@SLAYERMETALLICA357 Don't be so closed minded, sure, a lot of the old Beatles songs are like that, repitious, similar chording, etc. But later Beatles are certainly not as radio-pop as the earlyer Beatles. As for the "sappy hippy lyrics" part, I'd take it you've only heard them on the radio, and never listen to whole albums. Sgt. Pepper's and Abbey Road greatly showcase how diverse the Beatles became in their later years.
Growing up in the 70's, it was all about the music (best era IMO) and the weed. At 54, I still play my Led Zeppelin LOUD. Over the years I've blown out 3 sets of speakers in my cars - all on this drum solo. RIP JB.
Everyone my age who likes the oldies keep complaining about their generation. They have their reasons for liking that kind of "music" (i really don't know what is is) but at least we are one of the few that like the classics, and were gonna pass it on generation to generation. Im grateful that i found this music. ( the movie School of Rock introduced me to rock) cant we just ignore the music today and listen to our own?
why cant more of my generation appreciate good music instead of that britney-spears-katy-perry bullshit you hear on the radio? real stuff like classic rock, underground hip hop [trust me..its better than hip hop you hear on the radio], even jazz.....
but NO, we have to appreciate meaningless lyrics thrown with a catchy beat and hook looped 4000 times in 4 minute pop songs, and 5 minute dick jokes by katy perry..
@WritingBlind I'm 15, and I agree completely. That mainstream shit takes no talent, they aren't any real instruments, their voices are autotuned, and the lyrics don't mean anything. But if you look, there are still bands making good music, like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Fleet Foxes, Arctic Monkeys, etc. But unfortunately bands like that don't get as much attention.
@WritingBlind I'm in just same situation as you. I'm 15 and i'm only one in my school who listens to this kind of music from about few hundred people in there. If you check my channel you all no i'm serious.
@WritingBlind - music appreciation is both subjective and learned. You have to allow for people's personal musical taste. However, it's great that you stretch your ears and listen to lots of different music. That is how you learn to appreciate beyond what any generation would typically listen to. Don't hate - share the music!
@WritingBlind You should understand that every generation has bad mainstream music. That is why it is mainstream. The only good generation for mainstream music was the seventies, but since then music has expanded and become HUGE. This means that a majority of people want something simple so they don't have to explore. This is also an extra-sexual aware generation, and this is amplified by the music industry. It is just more blatant nowadays. I am 15 btw. I love my generation.
@WritingBlind I just don't respect the fact that you need to share your age. I'm 15, but I don't go to my favorite videos to preach my age and to tell everyone how idiotic my generation is. It just looks like you're seeking attention, trying to make yourself look better than the rest of your generation, I know that that's probably not your intention, but that's what it appears like. You simply don't need to mention your age, too many kids do that.
@WritingBlind Hey dumbass, here's an idea: don't writing anything then. Your comment is so unoriginal anyways. You would have been better off not writing it. I see comments like yours every Zeppelin/Maiden/Pink Floyd/Sabbath video I go to. Why do you kids feel the need to preach your age? Just listen to the music, and shut the fuck up. "Wannabe-genius"? You must be easily impressed if my original comment showed any shred of attempted genius in your eyes.
@WritingBlind Just went to your page, and saw that one of your influences was Drake. Way to stand by that "underground hip hop" thing, man. Pick up some real underground, fuck Drake and all of Young Money.
@WritingBlind "Hipster"? You were the one who talked shit about mainstream music and how everyone should listen to old and underground music. Inconsistent dumbass. And I'm not a hipster, Drake just fucking sucks at rapping. His monotone voice and boring, typical lyricism is annoying as shit. Any underground artist can verbally fuck him up. Tonedeff, Immortal Technique, Diabolic, etc.
@WritingBlind Close-minded, bitch ass pussies like you who regard everything as "trolling" will never take criticism and different ideology into consideration, that's the reason why you will never get better as a rapper. Fuck off.
@JacobWAd haha, i agree with WritingBlind that (most) new music is shit but you make some great points, you make him look like a real dumbass. haha, nice man, i can't believe what a poser he is tho saying to listen to underground stuff and likes Drake, what a faggot retard. Pop shouldve died a long time ago along with Buddy Holly, Billy Joel, the Beatles, and all the REAL greats
@southerngrizzly I agree. And I noticed he doesn't even have a single underground artist listed. He's doing a fucking Kid Cudi remix, and he wants to talk about the underground as if he knows it. I doubt he could name five underground artists off the top of his head.
@JacobWAd haha, yeah i used to post comments on old music with my age (i'm 15 now, just for reference) saying how i listen to this old music but then i realized how stupid it was so i stopped, haha
@JacobWAd Uhhh Why are you guys even discussing Drake on a Bonham cut! Have some respect RIP John! If age matters, 34! And no disrespect to either of you.. Just love what you love.. Peace my felllow humans!
this is prob the hardest drumming to play from led zeppelin he is playing his drumset and the timpani at the same time to create one song that sounds like two people. fucking amazing dude.
I like this. Most Zeppelin fans I know prefer Moby Dick but I don't think they took a good listen to this. Mind you, not everyone had the Coda LP, either.
just because you can hear john bohnam pretty much de-flower that drumset this is not moby dick in any way or form. This is not impossible to play but its really fucking hard. and dude keith moon doesnt stand a chance against bohnam..i'm just saying i cant even believe that was an option. it pisses me off (not really)that everyone puts all the attention on the guitarists...what about the fucking drummer? I'm not talking shit..
@TheReedable its apples and oranges man, Bonham couldn't play the way keith could. Just because bonham was more technically profecient, doesn't mean he was the better drummer, two totally different styles, bonham can't play the way moon could, he couldnt drive the song with a melody behind the set..just like moon couldn't groove through a song like bonham could thats that. You can't say who is better, they are both the greatest because of their own ways, so lets just not compare.
@jaqua524 You have to understand that they could have played like eachother if they wanted to. Good drummers can do that fuckass. So shut the fuck up and stop thinking that its even about that. Regardless led zeppelin was a cover band anyway. So technically keith moon is better.
@TheReedable and, in addition my my other comment, I think Bonham gets plenty of attention, well atleast he does, anyone who knows Led Zeppelin knows he was the power behind that band :)
However, the recording company of Led Zeppelin was Swan Song under the auspices of Atlantic, not Warner. (Hehe just a trivial little bit of info, there, nothing more hehehe)
This was originally 3 recorded solos, i think 3. either way it was put together by jimmy page after Johns death. notice u cant find a live version of this cause there isnt one. (this sounds great) i love it. but i love Moby Dick alot more be cause it came straight from Bonham himself. (R.I.P.)
@centerforce2 You should hear the "Moby Dick" & "Bonzo's Montreux" combo combined. It's phenomenal. There was also a LZ medley of tunes that was called under the name of "Slog". QFM96 in Columbus used to play these songs when it did Get The Led Out (QFM called the feature Whole Lotta Led.)
@5150zac As Coda is an album made up of sessions which didn't make it to the studio LP's, start with "IV", discover the other works then finish with Coda.
You know, a week ago if someone had told me that there was a great song that was all drums, I would have said, "Get outta town!!! It's not even really a song without a guitar!"
Well folks, I stand corrected. This song kicks some serious percussion ass.
In all of Rock n Roll their are only three drum solos that are historic, the first being In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, the second is Soul Sacrifice and third being this.
An absolutely classic that appeared way to late on vinyl in Zeppelins career.
Granted, there's some genius in some backwater town or tribal society nobody's ever heard of somewhere in the world who truly holds the title of greatest drummer of all-time. But, as far as what is recorded and known, John Bonham stands above all others - even Neal Peart and Keith Moon.

heard this again for the first time in what has to be 10 years this morning in honor of his birthday on 93.3 WMMR. Sorely missed Bonzo! Nobody kicked a-s on drums like this guy.
I think the words by Charie Watts(of the Stones) hits home; "You know, you need a drum about that big and be able tp hit it so hard. Bohnam - you won't get another one of him"
Dont get me wrong Moby Dick was great but this was way ahead of its time. I've always liked this better than Moby. I also believe this influanced Jan Hammer for his Miami Vice theme.
I like it but jimmy page should of not put the electronic melody on this but I still love it

wich album is beter to buy led zeppelin iv or coda
5150zac 7 months ago
@5150zac Both are really good but it depends on what you feel, i would say any of them is really great but go with IV there's more good stuff ;).
TheMushPower 7 months ago
@TheMushPower thank u i got zeppelin iv on friday am going to get coda 2maro ;D
5150zac 7 months ago
@5150zac As Coda is an album made up of sessions which didn't make it to the studio LP's, start with "IV", discover the other works then finish with Coda.

You know, a week ago if someone had told me that there was a great song that was all drums, I would have said, "Get outta town!!! It's not even really a song without a guitar!"
Well folks, I stand corrected. This song kicks some serious percussion ass.

I vote Perkins and Jane's Addiction's Three Days live as a 4th awesome drum solo.

very obscure, most people dont know about this one.

Epic, rhythmic, speechless, and LIKED!
dustynote 8 months ago
In all of Rock n Roll their are only three drum solos that are historic, the first being In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, the second is Soul Sacrifice and third being this.
An absolutely classic that appeared way to late on vinyl in Zeppelins career.
Wshuwrhr 8 months ago
@Wshuwrhr 4 you have to add in Jane's addiction - Three days (live version).

Nobody kicked a-s on drums like this guy.

bonzo was the bomb
bigkittysmile 9 months ago
I think the words by Charie Watts(of the Stones) hits home; "You know, you need a drum about that big and be able tp hit it so hard. Bohnam - you won't get another one of him"
tenoderaaridifolia 9 months ago
Bonham really should have used some oil on his kick pedal chain...
RandomBeRad 9 months ago
Dont get me wrong Moby Dick was great but this was way ahead of its time. I've always liked this better than Moby. I also believe this influanced Jan Hammer for his Miami Vice theme.
