  • I like the idea of this animation quite a lot, but in game when the framerate starts to dip, it get's a little choppy with the fast rotation. Motion blur, or a particle trail behind each arm might help.

  • ze teleporter goes here!

  • how the hell are u supposed to get through the spinning blades? lol

  • great they call it infantry portal because it looks like a teleporter and it is a portal, so the marines don´t spawn anymore, they get teleported from another ship (for your fantasy) its great :-)

  • finally a game that could push PC gaming forward!!!

  • @Thet3 actually the requirements are like dx9 they made it so u can play it on ur average pc

  • @Thet3 fuck modern gayfuckstupid bullshit! with the only gay fire arms at all, not even portals, aliens or atleast flamethrower in game.

  • This is very awesome, however it doesn't seem as if both arms are spinning at opposite ends to create a "cylinder"...looks kind of weird. A third arm might make it look a bit cooler, but that might fuck with real-estate.

  • Dam nice!

  • lol, 150 views every 2 minutes

  • the part that folds up clips the other arm, good eye

  • You probably shouldn't have the arms sticking up like that. It would be a bit dangerous for the marines walking around the base. Maybe make them a bit shorter :/ Also, wokkyphone is right - they intersect at 0.01.

This looks uber shiney though :o

  • I would remove the pause and just make them spin up constantly.

At max velocity the effect (I guess you're doing a charge effect..) starts to get in proper shape until the player spawns.

I know you wanted to give it some unique movement, and it's fun to experiment with own thoughts a little, but hm..this just doesn't make much sense.

Or are my eyes really broken and each part does 360°? O_O

  • as you can see at the beginning, each of the '3d neutron printers' got their own track.

at the start of their movement its slow enough to see that they are doing 360° spinning.

and if it spins continuous, you couldn't get out of it ;))!!

  • Your eyes are broken. Each part is doing a 360. I can see your point though. It's an optical illusion.

  • imo the animation needs a major change.

The two parts do a 360 in the beginning.

And when "charging up" they are just bouncing back and forth, 180°.

This would be an almost impossible thing to do mechanical wise, and I don't really think it makes much sense.

You guys were maybe thinking each part "creates" one side of the portal.

But if they would do a 360, which certainly looks more believeable, the spinning parts would just change their..whatever they do..each 180° in the tech way.

  • I believe the point of that is, as i'm sure you've noticed on car wheels and such, when things are spinning fast you don't actually see what is happening. Perhaps they are trying to emulate that someway i dunno.

  • The animation needs some work, the arms intersect on the first rotation. Looks nice otherwise.

  • no they don't the angel of the view you have makes it seem so but with a closer look the front and back aren't near each other when they start to fold out

  • They definitely do. Try to pause it at the very moment they cross, you'll see that the meshes are clearly intersecting.

  • looks a bit to cartoony

  • Good god, that's wonderful animation

Brought a smile to my face

  • That is great. I love the beginning animation. I would love a bit more light while they are spinning. This is a great upgrade from Natural Selection 1.

  • Every nice! You guys are taking this over the top.

  • nice, I love the animation.

    haha, the step is neato.

  • You lot are certainly going the distance with change from the original NS. In some ways it's good but in other ways i'll miss the simplicity of what it once was.

  • I've missed gadgets being this much... Alive in games today.

  • I like it how all the structures seem a lot bulkier this time around. Great model/animations.

  • wow. it's adorable. i love the shadows when those two arms move.

  • sweet
