  • Can you make a video of Paris please. Its Anthony.

  • My doxie's name is Ruby, she's going through similar issues and is partially paralyzed. My family wants me to euthanize her but she's my best friend and baby. She's always there for me and I treat her as if she were my daughter. My family keeps telling me her quality of life isn't quality with her injury, but I can't just kill her because her rear legs don't quite work. I'm so lost and I don't know what to do. This injury happened about 3 1/2 weeks ago and she's on anti-inflammatory medicine.

  • I'm lost and I don't know where to go from here. She's on kennel rest for about 5 more weeks but after that I don't know what to do. Please help me. My e-mail is gaskin_carrie @yahoo.com or gaskin_carrie@hotmail.com. Any advice or information is greatly appreciated.

  • Very encouraged! I have a 11 year old mini who is hospitalized now for a disc injury. She still is moving around on all 4's but she is very painful & being with her Vet who loves her & all dachshund especially, is the best for her to keep her very still & hopefully heal her. Your little girl is spunky, happy & sweet as can be & it encourages me for my dachshund, Lilly! Thank you!

  • Now that was amazing! We had a Dapple Dachshund named Pepper. He got like your dog. But my family had him euthanized. I sure wish they could have saw this back in 2002. Pepper was only eight when he hurt his back. If he were still alive. He would have turned sixteen.

  • oh my god so cute look at her go, she's like a little baby seal, she can go so fast with her front legs! dogs are so strong minded

  • Such a sweetie!! How lucky you both are to have each other!

  • Aww cute! That's cool! You kept her like most people wouldn't! I have a dachshund too! And her names Taffy!

  • Truly an awesome display of why dogs are our best friends. The joy they give us, easily outweighs any difficulties that may come our way as owners. I commend you for not giving up on this truly wonderful little dog. I have two myself, and love them dearly.

    Thank you for sharing.

  • You are a wonderful person. This is a great video.

Our dachs had a similar IVDD injury but made a full recovery after an emergency surgery. We never gave up on him and he never let us down.

  • I know what your love because I have a dog of the same race that had the same problem as its so she returned to riding. The vet said she would not walk again but I myself have given physiotherapy and remedies for human vessels sanguinios decompress the spine and thank God today she runs with some difficulty but able to walk again.

    Tabby is so cute

  • I really admire Tabby's mom, she is so practical and matter of fact. They both just get on with normal life. Shows what can be done when you think outside the box. I hope they have many happy years together, so sweet.

  • I'm so sad. I lost my dacshies this year and I miss them so much.

  • Dawww wot a cute dachshund

  • She is a very pretty dog, what a happy spirit she has! It is amazing that she is able to get around so easily.. You would think that with her injury she wouldn't enjoy to run around and fetch... Thank you for taking good care of her!

  • God bless you for taking such great care of Tabby!!!

  • Special place in Heaven for you !!!!

  • What a great Family she has!

  • Poor little thing. It's good she has a dedicated owner.

    i love duchshund

  • Excellent story!!! We have 4 dachshunds, and one just injured her back over Christmas. Where can we email you for more information?

  • I have a dachshund who just recently became paralyzed, but she is almost 14 years old. I don't know that she would have the strength to ever do what Tabby did because of her age. She is on medication but seems so unhappy. We tried the water therapy but she hurt her neck. We just don't know what to do anymore. Do you have any words of encourgagement for us?

  • I would love to know of some of the resources. My service dog was out playing just the 5th of November and here it is the 10th of nov. and we are starting a whole new life. A team has been changed forever due to a freak accident in the yard.

  • such an inspiration. pretty lady:)

  • Tabby is absolutely precious!!

  • my dogs better

  • Comment removed

  • I can relate to this, in spring of 09 my dachshund Sadie had been having back problems, so the vets put her on medication and she was on bed rest, but it kept getting worse and by june she couldn't walk on her back legs just like Tabby, we got her a doggy wheelchair and a life jacket and take her swimming + on walks and now is starting to walk again on her back legs even when all the vets said she wouldn't walk again, which is a miracle and I'm so happy my dog can have a happy life again!

  • that's sad to see but daxies are REAL fighters! They always fight for whatever they have, including their lifes. They never give up.

My daxy once had a problem with his spine. He wall in a water under the ice in winter, which was totally my fault. But I did EVERYTHING to make him recover and he was on his 4 feet in 2 weeks. The vet said that the surgery gonna cost me so i was ready to sell my car, but hopefuly he recovered by himself. They are strong and never give up.

  • thats true love

  • I just met tabby today and she is awesome. What a trooper.

  • Like a seal lol

  • Hello wonderful video, Edward

  • Great Video!!! One of the resources my sister used for her dog Beau was Eddie's Wheels. These are some of the most fantastic people you will meet. I will be sharing this video. it was a perfect example of how normal a life "special needs" dogs can have!

All our love, Heather, Lucy, & Ethel.

  • I have a chihuahua that became paralyzed 2 and a half years ago. He is so happy and moves around quickly just like Tabby. I agree with you when you say that a disabled pet can still have a happy joyous life...My Toby is living proof of it!

Thanks for the video and to show people that with patience, love and physio therapy a dog CAN live a HAPPY life.

I hope Tabby is doing very well and would love to see more videos :)

  • I had a Shih Tzu that was paralyzed. He had a weak bladder, so I put diapers around his waist. I changed his 'diappy' several times a day. I put on surgical gloves & inserted my finger in his rectum to remove his bowels. He lived a great life. He lived to be 19 years old. I miss him. I want 2 tell everyone that all you need is time to take care of a disabled pet. It can be done. Bernard even travled with me on airplanes. DO NOT GET THEM PUT TO SLEEP, they can survive being disabled.

  • taby is a miracle. she reminds me of my hunnie. i would like to talk to you. i'm lydiahelp.

  • help me please. i just found out yesterday. hunnie is just like taby. hunnie is 6 years old. vet says 50/50 chance. what should i do?? what shouldn't i do?? can't afford surgery. please help me!!!!!!!!!

  • That video was truely inspiring!

  • I hope you read this in time. My dachshund had the same problem and I invested in the $3000+ surgery. She was crippled afterwards and I thought I would have to go the route of the cart. However, someone on the Net mentioned accupuncture as a treatment. Within 6 treatments at my local vet (very inexpensive!), "Puddles" was walking a good as ever. PLEASE check into accupuncture...it could be your dog's best hope.

  • I am in need of help, my Dachshund became paralyzed yesterday.. I am up in arms on what to do.. surgery is VERY expensive can you please contact me so i can ask a couple questions.. and where I can get help

  • i am in the same boat. what can you tell me to do? please help me with what you know!

  • Lydia,I crated my Brandi for 5 wks,Within that time she started trying to walk,I also massaged her back legs everyday for circulation, then I went to a acupuncturist, Find or ask around for a reputable one for dogs they r INexpensive like $60 a vst she said I should've come to her FIRST before crating Brandi is walking now & doing vry well with the trtments & rehab exercises & water treadmill, she is walking very well but just has no deep pain sensation, but doc says that is fine.email me private

    Marianne Casey

  • What a sweet little girl! She is absolutely precious. Thank you so much for sharing!

  • LOVE IT!! My lil guy is just the same way. I say if anything, hes faster now that he doesn't have to coordinate the back half with the front half.

  • That's so sad.

  • Oh no, please don't think so. She is really happy, rules the house (even the other dogs bigger than she) and has a ball.

  • What a wonderful video! We have a formerly paralyzed rescue dog and we don't know what we would do if she had been put to sleep. Thanks for sharing this. I think it would be great for the drna website, too.

  • DRNA is welcome to use it!

  • Well done video on own special friends!

    jill, drna

  • Great video! Handicapped dachshunds can and do live long, happy & healthy lives. Thank you for the great video!

  • This text response window does not permit the use of URLs. So if you just use search engine Google dot com and paste in <IVDD Disc Disease Fast Facts> , the top two entries will be: "IVDD Disc Disease Fast Facts" -and- "Dachsie IVDD Care FAQ"

  • I love your video. Thanks for giving such inspiration to owners of special needs dachshunds. I linked to this video on two of my pages:

  • Thanks so much. I would love to see your sites (and for others to be able to) but I don't seem to be able to get there. Can you clarify?

  • Hello all -- this is Tabby's mom. If you have questions about dachshunds and back issues, go to the Dodgerslist website. Our rescue's website (focusing on Atlanta, GA) is "dreamdachsierescue" and there are dachshund rescues all over the country. To find a dachshund near you, go to "petfinder".
