Clearly remember the night in Central Park, NYC, at the Wollman Rink, August '72, "The Schaeffer(beer)Circle of Stars Presentation" of The Doors, with Flo and Eddie, and guest musician Charles Lloyd. Magnificent!!!
Amigo latino la banda post Morrison nunca canto Break on through, Raiders on the Storm, love me 2 times y los demas hits q los hizo legendarios?
I'd love to know where this was taped. My guess is that is is outside the US, because American audiences did not clap this way back then nor do they now... I know that sounds stupid but I'm telling you it's true.
The Legendary Doors Heyday was in 67-69* I think concert goers had other perception when it came to music back in 72´ Zeppelin, Deep Purple,Alice Cooper,Captain Beyond, Yes, ELP,genesis,Floyd were around and Kickin´it and the Music world was changing and expectations were Higher

ray was a fantastic musician in his own right and this song showed him off. he was a more than decent singer too and i dont understand any negative comments about him
I disagree, the Doors were much more than Jim's lyrics (which weren't even all that great IMO). They were a band of amazingly talented musicians who could clearly hold their own when their singer drank too much (which they had to do during their career with Jim)
@nickbelane69: if you say the two albums without jim weren't nothing, that you must be blinded by morrison-fanatism - they are better then some of the albums with jim ...
the only album they would be close to being on par with was Soft Parade and thats when jim seemed least interested.. Robby wrote way more and the band changed its style and still those are not as good as soft parade
On "Light My Fire" Jim sang a great vocal as always, but the song was always about Ray's organ, John's drums and Robbie's guitar all playing and jamming together and they do a fine job of it here without Jim. Its just to bad the sound is a bit burried. Yes, there was a Doors without Jim and "Otehr Voices" and "Full Circle" showed that Robbie, Ray and John were extremely talented musicians.
Oh c'mon I can't see some big differencies being with or without Jim especially in this instrumental parts. My god this was 1972,just one year after Jim died.Everything was so fresh yet, they didn't loose the feeling yet.Btw the recording is not quit recognizable so what did you expect anyway. And why they've had to quit? They haven't had lost their knowledge of playing instruments, not then not till these days thanks god for that ..lol.
I meant throughout his doors career. without jim this obviously is not the full doors. He sang alot in those days also when him was to drunk to make it to concerts.
wrong, the guys used a bass player on the post-Morrison tours. He was Jack COnrad, who plays in many OV and FC songs. Perhaps was for make easy the work for Ray.

@Mae77 there was actually a show where morrison passed out in front of the band, so Manzarek played his ususal bass organ, organ, and did Jim's vocals. So he's quite capable.
@Tmntchile I am saying when Morrison was with the band and would not be able to finish the concert (from alcohol, drugs, etc.) Ray would pick up the singing and would do a damn good job.
ray great organ player, sharp composer... downfall anytime he lends his voice to a mike whether its in horrible lead singin like this; sophmoric and embarrassing background vocal shouts or nerdy lewd throwin insertions; naked commercial promotion to bank more off jim's grave; or hippiespeak interviews in wh/ he shamefully still pumps drugs & mystic bs about indian satyrs hopping out of jim's ass on stage. raymond please stick to what u do well... keys not loose lips.
It took balls to perform live without Jim, but to tear through one of his signature songs? Damn.
