I am fighting the local shire to build one of these. They said straight up NO. We are only allowed to have them on a rural block as a temp storage compartment. Hopefully I will be the first in the area to build one. Lots of architects involved.
Please help me! The sea is rising coz of global warming and BHSEC is going to drown with all the LES Manhattan neighborhoods!
Meanwhile Michael Meyer and his Future Water Proof Corp. want to capitalize on climate change. They want to kick us out and build a fucking water park on our homes.

If you are considering modular or prefab home, building with recycled shipping containers is worth taking a look at.
Good resource is the Residential Shipping Container Primer website. A SHOWCASE OF SHIPPING CONTAINER HOMES AND BUILDINGDS, AND A DO IT YOURSELF (DIY) REFERENCE FOR CONVERTING RECYCLED INTERMODAL CARGO SHIPPING CONTAINERS INTO BUILDINGS AND? ARCHITECTURE.
Lots of great example buildings, details, facts, and links to other articles...
Nice idea but not very well executed. Take inspiration from someone like Samuel Mockbee for ideas of external finishes/features and you could reduce costs further and make them look less like a cheap chalet/caravan. Embrace the fact it's a shipping container rather than hide it behind twee finishes!
With MERS and the Federal Home Loan Banks, the National Housing Conference produced a new video designed for affordable housing advocates and practitioners. It’s called “Housing’s New Era” and free presentation-quality DVD copies are available upon request. NHC hopes that folks will use it at the local level to convey a simple, positive message around affordable housing. Take a look by entering "Housing's New Era" in YouTube's search engine. And email tokeefe@nhc.org to order a free copy.

Exactly . no need for fema trailer. We've used these in alaska for living quarters for decades. Suddenly its 'green sheik' .. i just laugh=D. this will no doubt bring the price of otherwise Free containers up to 1000's. A few months ago Craiglist was loaded with free boxes. No more
