I had this on a 33 1/3 rpm stereo album of David Rose selections in the late 1960's.
Trivia: In the mid 1960's, WAVY TV in Virginia used this same theme music for the opening of a weekday afternoon movie program called "Tronic Theater", hosted by a gentleman and his robot. The robot looked exactly like Robbie the Robot in the film "Forbidden Planet", The show aired five days a week with the same theme music.

NickinMesa left this informative message. This was to be the soundtrack until they found 2 guys who played early forms of synthesizers and they fired David Rose. ..Sounds crazy as David Rose has done a brilliant spacey well fitting piece for this film with synth sounds added in. Apart from this release on 78 and 45 I have never seen or known of any soundtrack Ep or Lp to Forbidden Planet.
I had a 45-size copy of this. I think it was meant to be played at 33 rpm.

I think I had a 45-size copy of this, but without most of the sound effects. I think it was meant to be played at 33 rpm.

@m0neymizzle
The official soundtrack LP album to the movie was produced by Louis and Bebe Barron. It's available on CD.
