There you go. I asked in another vid if a stylus could work. I can't draw with the tips of me fingers, I NEED a pen or stylus, something that replicates the pen/pencil/marker experience in the "real world".
@Dimarelos24 Drawing paper each month, for example bristol board: 50 dollars. My ipad paid itself off in about 6 months, with my not having to buy paint, ink, brushes (typically 50 dollar-ish brushes).
I've been using it non-stop for art creation, and won't be going back to traditional barring a giant emp bomb destroying all of our tech.
This app is amazing, great range of tools and features but if you have any trouble with this app try, sketch club, another great app and great value too.
@monkeyboy0679 quality has its price. especially wacoms quality is enormous so, there is nothing to complain about. btw man you could afford an ipad so there should be the possibility of gettin this pen too
If Apple works out the responsivness and offers advanced drawing tools, Wacom beware. You might want to think of price reduction on your expensive Cintiq line.
@Flatchowder There are already high end PC tablets that do conductive capacitance (allowing for pressure-sensitive line-width manipulation). Wacom has shut down production on many of its product offerings for awhile now, prolly in anticipation of the competition. I asked them if they'd be dropping prices, their response was "no comment."
Can someone tell me how responsive this app is? From the video, it looks like there's something of a delay between moving the stylus, and having the graphics generated.
Not convinced an iPad is suitable for this kind of work, yet. Happy to be corrected though.
Its resposive, however its not sooo sooo acurate like youd want it to be. Its not an resistive screen, it cant use ur typical small topped stylus. It uses one of those rubbery stylus. However you can get the job done, pretty fast.
@Lunnsix. You can use either a Pen which is called a stylus or you can use your finger. Using the stylus is easier. I believe the guy is using a stylus by Griffin. It's fairly cheap now. Or maybe the make of the stylus is Targus. Enjoy my friend.
Really hope someone makes a wifi enabled pressure sensitive pen or something like that. I have no idea why something like that isn't on the market yet. All you need is the type of pen you have in this video with a pressure sensor inside. Doesn't even have to be that many pressure levels. some are better than none. That being said, got a cintiq 24HD in the mail. NNnnngh! Gonna be broke for months, but hopefully worth it.
please put the pen you used in the description. also, will you be making this app for android? im thinking of getting one of those new tablets with the wacom pens...
@jomann18 This app is already available for Android. You should check out the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet. It is the only Android/iPad like tablet that has pressure sensitivity built in, and this app is compatible with that function. There are videos of it here on youtube.
@EverythingArt309 and then came the day that you were informed that you needed a drawing stylus, like the pogo stylus, for drawing. They're 14.99 at the apple stores. Then you got one, and lived happily ever after!
just for the record - Given my comment is rated the most popular.. I've since purchased this for my ipad 2. It is a good app. Fairly responsive. Not the most responsive, but definitely responsive enough to create with. However this video still blows in that the fast playback is extremely unhelpful to gauge app responsiveness.
love this app. Have it on ipod touch as well as on ipad2 - it totally rocks in terms of what you can do with it. Problem for the ipod/iphone version is only that you need to do a lot of zoom in to have the actual 100% view/work area , so you mostly work on details in zoomed mode. for the ipad you can work naturally as if you have a din a5 sketchbook/physical paper or canvas in hands, feels more easy to work on.
Why why why why x infinity are we almost in 2012 and still no portable tablet with pressure sensitiviy??? im sick of seeing all these new tablets on the market with no pressure sensitivity. Also Wacom take forever due to the lack of competition. So what is wrong here? can someone explain why there is no tablet of a similar size to ipad with pressure sensitivity?
Such a beautiful pad yet they keep tapping it with their oily, grubby, finger and just another one of those rubber tipped stylus. That drawing would have come out much better, had they used one of 42 STYLUS-R-US ones at beststylusDOTcom. Now they have it together.
Sketchbook pro for iOS has a glaring omission: measly export size, just 72p with no way to upscale it. This renders such an otherwise wonderful app to merely a distraction with no use for actual professional work.
I've emailed Autodesk about it but no response or update concerning this matter.
Too bad - but at least there's Brushes for iOS with it's brushes viewer application for the Mac so it will have to do.
@vry00 I guess you don't remember those "I'm a Mac and I'm a PC" commercials from a few years ago. When most people say "PC," they mean something that isn't a Mac. Second, most serious artists I know use a Mac. Third, I never mentioned a single thing about Photoshop; and furthermore, whether you're on a Mac or not, you're probably using Photoshop if you're an artist no matter what, so that's irrelevant.
not a useful video.. show us some drawing video at 100% speed so we can get a feel of how responsive the app actual is.. stop showing all the drawing action at fast speed
@booggerg its good, trust me. works fast and accurate if you have the pen they're using in this. you can also go watch a user review of the app if you need to see it yourself.
Question for whoever wants to answer! So i want to get sketchbook pro this christmas, but then i'd have to buy some type of a tablet with it. A few years ago two parents went out for dinner. A few hours later, the babysitter was calling to see if she could cover up the clown statue in the kids' room, the father said " Get the kids out of the house, we'll call the police, we don't have a clown statue". The "clown statue" was actually a killer that escaped from jail. If you dont post this on 10 videos tonight the clown will be in your bed at 3:00am with a chainsaw in his hand. sorry dont want this to happen to me
@iLineHur yes but ipad has by far the greatest sensitivity to touch. no other os tablet has as much sensitivity to give it that great feel when drawing. (and by tablet you mean tablets not just including sketch tablets right? cuz sketch tablets would obviously beat an ipad in terms of drawing)
it doesnt show in the video the rulers and circle templates like it does with sketchbook pro 2011 for pc/mac. Does it comes with it for the Ipad? the circle template and ruler?
Either you can draw or you can't.

There is a Sketchbook Express now available for the honeycomb tablet devices. I got it for my Samsung Galaxy 10.1. Its awesome fun
