    Are you running an L-series? or have gone and bastardised it with some other mill?

    I love a good dyno session, they`re great for testing boost increases and other tuning mods.

  • Its a 82-83 280zx 5 speed. He has an sx 5 speed thats going in. Why 3rd gear pulls? I don't no.

  • Some dynos can't handle the speeds of a fourth gear pull. Btw, did he swap in a ZX five speed because the four speed wasn't strong enough or what?

  • yes zx 5 speed. Has best overdrive for the highway. Hes going with a 240sx 5 speed now for strength

  • Any chance you know what a stock 4 speed is good for? I was looking at hopefully 250rwhp on motor, 400 on spray. Should be pretty similar torque numbers.

  • I'm on my 2nd 5 speed. I'm not sure if the 4 speed is weaker, but it can't be any stronger.

  • Do you remember what you were doing when the first one went out? I'm thinking I'll be making around 250rwhp all the time, and I wanna run a 150 shot on top of that for racing. Don't think I'll do much if any drag racing, mainly rolls and just having fun with the car really.

  • I know that the T5 from the zx turbo is stronger than any nissan transmission. Looking at the T5s used for mustangs, do you think it can bolt up to the Z bellhousings? If so then this is a sure way to get that overdrive along with the added loading capacity.

  • well the T5 really is not all that strong. I am putting in a 300zx turbo tranny, way bigger and stronger than the T5. Its going in with an adapter plate

  • For the 84-89 300zx z31 tranny the weakest is the T-5 which was put in the 84-86 turbo models. The 30a 5spd which was in 4/87-89 turbo models including the 88 shiro, its the mack daddy tranny. The 84-89 n/a's were 71c's and our known to be stonger than the t-5's.
