  • @soccerruben1 NO muslim hence the name hes just acknowleding other faiths but he states he is muslim

  • You cant see the wind but you can feel and see its effects!

  • Amen brothers :)

  • LIIIIIIINVOY

  • I play football. if i have football on Sunday i go 2 Church on saturday. If i have football 2 play on Saturday, I go 2 church on Sunday

  • @mrghanaboy17 Same here, my priests says if I am playing on a Sunday i can go to Liturgy with him at his other Parish on a Saturday. it makes me feel a lot better than if I did not go. I think if I missed Liturgy one week I would feel bad when i am playing and screw up,

  • Lord God bless Primus

    Love u Primus

  • i wonder if jermain defoe asked god if he should claim a loyalty bonus of 700 grand from pompey even though he spent less than a year there he only bible bashes when it suits him the dick!

  • it struck me how the christian players wen asked "which is more important Jesus Christ or football" they all sed Jesus Christ without a moments thought where as the other religious player just sed both are important. (im a christian)

  • God bless you and i see you in heaven

  • Please rename this video - not all the footballers in the video are "christians". You are misleading the public.

  • Sorry about that - you're absolutely right. I'll rewrite the 'info' section. I won't rename the video though, as I only put this up because of the several Christians interviewed in Gavin's piece.

  • Cheers.

  • Peacock is a legend!! Read Never Walk Alone!

  • Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

    John 14:6

  • @al147316 AMEN!

  • @al147316 The Bible also says that if a woman is not a virgin on her wedding night then you should stone her to death. Religions are BS.

  • @DerrenBrown100 where exactly does it say this?

  • @DerrenBrown100 'Let he who is without Sin cast the first stone' is actually what the Bible says.Typical new age atheist.Did you copy and paste that off a Christopher HItchens fanboy page? Man,go take your obscure Leviticus quotes to some brown nosing atheist website where you can insult others without being questioned.

  • From a neutrals perspective it would be useful to know that evolution is just a theory! (has not been empirically verified). Therefore it holds just as much weight as any other religion. Nothing more, nothing less. So it comes back to a question of faith. To which some ppl believe is a trait of ignorance.

So what are you willing to believe?

personally i'd rather believe in a purpose filled life rather than a nothingness existence.

Jesus is #1 thank God for that!!

  • praise the Lord..that's what it should be all the time. Not pray to win, but pray to give God's glory everytime you play!

  • amen to that lad... that's what it's all about... god gave us our talents, so give it all back to him y'know!!!

  • what he meant is that jesus blessed him thats why he knows its jesus first and their asking him how it affectd him bn with jesus thru th hard tyms and he says if it wasnt FOR JESUS he wouldve had a hardr tym dealing with those tough times

  • footballers are well known for being the stupidest members of a society... no wonder so many of them are religious.

    thick bastards

  • Alister McGrath (professor of Historical Theology at Oxford University) and John Lennox MA PhD DPhil Dsc (Reader in Mathematics and the Philosophy of Science at Green College, Oxford, who regularly locks horns with Richard Dawkins in debates) are also Christians, so I guess the Gospel of Jesus really is for all mankind. You're right though, Footballers are generally a bit thick! ;-)

  • I'm sure there are many very intelligent and knowledgable people who are still scared of dying and want some kind of purpose to their lives so turn to Christianity.. however I think it's particularly vulgar and naive to think that in the extremely unlikely chance of there being a creator of the universe who watches over us and interferes in human affairs (seeing as there's zero evidence for one) that he cares about whether Norwich City beat West Brom or not.

  • I agree that God doesn't really care about Norwich V West Brom. As to the other stuff you said i.e. 'zero evidence' for a creator God - it's very easy to make those claims without any evidence yourself that there's zero evidence for a God (IRONY!) If you want some (and I mean SCIENTIFIC and not religious) try reading "God's Undertaker" by John C Lennox, then come back to me. I think you'll find it interesting.

  • Not the old.. you can never prove he doesnt exist therefor you can't rule out Christianity line. We can prove evolution and the age of the earth and the probablility of talking snakes and souls and heaven and existing. If Gavin Peacock and Linvoy primus believed the Loch Ness monster's invisible powers helped them through tough times would we take it seriously? At least we have photos that COULD be Nessie? no such luck for God.

  • nope no arguments of the sort - in fact the complete opposite! The book was written from a science viewpoint - read it if you've got the interest. This is a book about science, quantum mechanics, biology, macro and micro evolution etc. I don't blame you for your opinions - there are a lot of STUPID Christians out there shouting their mouths off about things they don't understand, e.g. science. I'm not advocating that kind of argument. As a law graduate I've actually got a brain!

  • cool, i did a little googling of the book to get a feel for it.. if i'm honest it is very unlikely i will purchase and read it. It did seem to be suggesting the old Creationist chestnut of "if there's something we don't understand about biology or the cosmos then aahaa! GOD must have done it" where as i demand that for God to exist, we need evidence of God... not just gaps in the fossil record or complex equations concerning astronomy. I'm sure it's interesting enough though

  • totally agree. please don't judge Christians by the comments of no-brainer American Tele-vangelists, there are many of us out there who didn't leave our brains at the door when we walked into church! ;-)

  • @ChocolateExplosion 2 years late, but hey! So you are saying that you need proof before you believe in anything? Do you have a partner? A husband, a wife? or your parents? They love you, ofcourse they do! but what proof do you have of that? thats rights, zip, nothing. but you know they love you, because you can feel it in your life. Thats he same as God. My proof, is the joy i feel when im in his presence. God bless.

  • @WickedaWickeda yeah.. but if i told you my girlfriend who loved me was invisible.. and went around claiming that other people should respect her wishes.. what would anyone say? I'd be locked up for being a lunatic. And rightly so.

  • There is a lot of evidence that my God exists and through him I have seen miracles performed; not only directly but through peoples attitudes and release from things when they seem unsaveable. A man in my church was healed from blindness which was diagnosed by a doctor to be permanent! God works in many ways; releasing people from addictions. Have you ever tried asking God if he exists? Are you open minded enough to ask him to show himself to you?

  • "my God" exists... a blind man healed?

    get a grip moron

  • yes amen to that

    God bless you

  • Gavin's off to study in Canada then. A big step and good luck! Wonder if he'll have a Jonathan Edwards moment half way through? (not that I'm wishing it upon him - although the sudden loss of religious faith can be an absolutely wonderful, life affirming thing as well). So the big question I guess remains this: who is going to replace him as the lead vocalist for James?

  • I can only imagine how hard it is for these guys to live Godly lives. With so much temptation and so much possessions that money can buy. As the Bible says it is truly hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. That is why they need lots and lots of faith.

  • Surely the analogies and similarities between extreme patriotism and being a football fan are fairly obvious?

Think of the blind tribolism, irrationality and bigotry. They're very much sociologically comparable.

  • mr defoe needs to practice what he preaches

  • in what respect?

  • Obviously my use of a word you didn't know offended you! However, it was an appropriate and fairly common word for adult conversation.

My comment was obviously said with a bit of irony.. maybe you're so offended by homosexuals, liberals, atheism and indeed - long words - that even a playful statement advocating them makes you back up into a corner.

  • Great to see this......

  • Sadly there are many idiots who call themselves Christians. Please don't make the mistake of thinking they're telling you what Christians actually believe -- they aren't! If you judge an entire Faith on this basis you're in danger of becoming as bad as them in the bigot department! Jesus spent much of his time hanging out with corrupt tax collectors and prostitutes because he always had love and compassion for people even if he disagreed with their lifestyle. Check it out in the New Testament.

  • I absolutely agree with you mate! I may not be English but cheers for you from the islands! :)

  • i know i am a christian myself

  • god made adam and eve not adam and steve, it is preached tht to be homosexual is not of gods work so it must be of the devils.

  • shaun michaels ,sting, anne rice,jrr tolkein,vince russo,road warrior hawk,road warrior animal,eddie g,batistuta,kaka,taddaei,little richard,head of korn,mc hammer,johnny cash,bob dylan,kanye west,jj okocha,million dollar man, keepin it real with j.c

  • Religion and football go well - they're both a lesson in irrational jingoism..

I'd be more optimistic about seeing an intellectual liberal humanist footballer.. perhaps an outward homosexual, and someone who could confuse his fans with long words!

  • there are plenty of homosexual footballers, can i be honest and say that i think your dislike for football and religion don't really go hand in hand. especially looking at the footballers in question, they are fantastic role models for young and old alike. I think that sais something positive about christianity!

  • Whoever said I dislike football? I simply drew comparison between the blind bigotry, irrationalism and jingoism of religious people and football fans. Your point about role models benefits my point - there's an element of worship there that's natural to humans, whether it be spiratual or secular.

I think a footballer would have to give away a very large chunk of £100k a week in order to gain some moral high ground though!!

  • Yeah, fair point about the money. i just don't think we should generalise about all footballers. Linvoy Primus for example does loads of work in schools and churches with young people. I hold him in the highest regard. He sums up my view of what christianity should all be about. using your talents (footy in his case) to worship your maker, whoever you beleive him to be. and then showing love to others. none of this 'your'e all going to hell' business. it gives us a bad name

  • tomsega, you gotta remember that out of the thousands a week that footballers earn, a large amount (i think it's about 40%) is taxed off. and, needless to say, that tax goes to the national health, education, blah blah blah

  • So much respect goes out to the players who stand up for their beleifs in the professional game, it's hard enough at low league standard to stand up for what you beleive in! Primus has it spot on when he says that it's about giving glory to God, which is what everything we do should be about!! Great post, glad to have seen it
