  • Yep London before the cultural marxist trashed it.

  • @magicmoonbeam2 what??

  • Man this just sums it up. I was 4/5 when this was shot and started on red bus rovers in about 71/72 and I wish I could go back to that time.I know people say it is better now cos it was hard then etc but to me NO WAY MAN London is as stated literally a bag of shit thrown in from everywhere. All London has is its history and all those people in this clip are dead or have moved out of London like me I am sad to say.

    Thanks for this clip

  • You can still see mod looking guys on the cusp of growing there hair out a bit (Flower power the year before) They made suits look cool & not like they were going for a job interview! Dolly birds & Hippie chicks MMmmm!! a few turned on people (Acid Freaks) wearing paisley & beads ect! Older people over 30! LOL!! Doing there shopping & looking confused!! I love the guy selling Bells!! HOW 1967 MAN!! Get with it! I love early Hippie fashion from 66-68.Not keen on post 69 Denim,Beard look much!!

  • Thanks for posting this video. I wish I had lived in the 60s.

  • I keep loving the 60s era more and more and more and more....

  • wish i had a pound for every pound i spent at lord john back then

  • is there anywhere decent like this in london now, London seems to be a big bag of shit to be honest, over half your wage on rent and fuck all left to live on anyway..

  • Does anyone know where this actual footage came from and who owns the rights?

  • look it then! WOW look at it now, SHIT!

  • Carnaby st ate its self after 69 The Kings Rd Chelsea was the place to be after that .That scene lasted untill around 78 then that imploded

    regards

    jimmy

  • Went there the other week, think I was 40 years to late. It was all high street what a shame.

  • a fuddy-duddy lady looking askance at someone because he dared to wear a floral shirt.

  • I worked on Carnaby Street, I wouldn't say its a mecca for tourist. It's actually quite a tame part of London considering its just off Regent Street..

  • Sounds like The Jam's Carnaby Street... or at least the chorus.

  • @wovokanarchy who's it by though?

  • @rlittler81 The Jam

  • Cool! "Those were the days!"

  • what is this tune please

  • the "pretty things": walking down the street....

  • thankyou so much I should have known really but saying that this is a real departure from their usual style dont you think except maybe the stuff from that norman wisdom film etc

  • Ok carnaby was the place to be then but now like all of London it has become an expensive dirty mecca for tourists and wotnot and everyone is scared of getting blown up and most real Londoners have pissed of to far and wideand last but not least fashion is dead and the music well what can I say been dead since the early 80's with the exception of maybe Oasis supergrass and the Kaiser chiefs u will never get that swinging bassy organ guitar twang music ever again with mini skirts and groovy dance

  • Have you actually been there recently?

I'm from and live in London and whenever I go to Carnaby street there are hardly any tourists and is actually quite clean. If you want tourists then look over to Regent and Oxford Street.

You again proved you point to be invalid by including some of the most awful and overrated bands of recent times in your post 'Oasis supergrass and the Kaiser chiefs', oh please get a grip.

  • well thanks for youre advice about gripping I will try my hardest for you.

Relating to the bands I think u r wrong but if u would like to tell me who is cool then go ahead. I am just someone who was born 20 years to late and that sums it up really.

  • How "Tripped Out Cool" was that!!

    Everyone had such cute clothes

    and pretty, long ,hair!!

  • Bloody swirley hippy types.

  • wonder if its still like that, probably not, ive only been to london once but we never got the chance go to any markets :(

  • No it's awful now. Has been for nearly 40 years. It is pedestrianised, soley for tourists, has crap clothes and doesn't have any say in the fashion world anymore.

  • A high street just like any other, in fact due to high rent, most of them now look the same in London these days.

  • @arranparma nope its shite like the rest of london

  • 0.11 that women is soo not buttoned up the back
