It's a simple technology using a slanted (polarized?) screen and a projector. It's been around forever. It's the live video transmission coupled with this that makes it work well.
@KDOGLEY I'm almost 60 years old. Back in 1959, the Museum of Science in Boston had an exhibit called "Grab the Penny." It was a 3D projection of a penny onto a dish. Children went nuts trying to pick it up. LOL But yes... I always wondered why the technology was being kept secret.
How much they want to put a mirror at 45° over your 90° rotated monitor with skype running? And to program a vertical flip-plugin for skype as well, of course :-)
this is bullshit lol...i made this at my place for a halloween decoration if you dont believe me look for it here on youtube...they will show you how to do it peace
Teleportation is the movement of objects from one place to another, more or less instantaneously, either by paranormal means or through technological artifice.
While the technology seems very useful, it is not teleportation.
they're not carrying the person anywhere. that is, not transporting them. it's a duplicate image. this is a stupid misuse of the word to hype their device.
efisgr, you are a stupid fool, you probably never created anything of value in this world. Yet you are trying to tear apart something that can make a difference in the lives of people today. And by the way, this device is transporting a persons essence not just their image, but you are to much of an idiot to recognize this fact.
What are the advantages Vs conventional monitors (for home use) and video projectors (for conference use). I see only disadvantages (mirror breaks, system gets more complex...) with no gain.
he said it--in a movie--but wouldn't it be better to quote the character or the writer, not him. an actor is an instrument. that is not a metaphor, lol.
...just sayin'...but THANKS for puttin' that wonderful line here. cracked me up. thumbs up!
Teleportec's system is more impressive than Cisco's telepresence...Cisco uses monitors whereas teleportec's system makes it appear as if the person is really in the room...exciting technology...
Ah, but it's 3D! Yes, teleportation is here used as a metaphor. However, the sight and sound is transmitted, and projected. As long as you don't try to touch the person, they're as real as a person on the other side of a bank teller's window. Teleportation is a metaphor for the illusion of reality.
How is this teleportation in any way? It's not as if the mass of the person has been moved in any way. This is just a see-through TV with a camera at the other end.
RICK PERRY?!? It should have been Ron Paul....

How is this different from projecting a person onto a pane of glass?

Impressive. I wonder how long technologies like this have been kept from public use?.

Why do they use such robotic humans to deliver these speeches. They're barely lifelike in person, much less as a projection.
