i think ben is the perfect cast for dorian gray . he looks great and i don't know . i read dorian gray a few days ago because i heard that ben would play him in the movie . i think he fits perfectly .

besides ben is 27 and looks like 19 . somehow like dorian gray ;)

Ben's beauty goes further the physical level, I guess is due his dashing personality. I think Ben has the same magnetism as Dorian in the book, which is the important issue in the movie plot. Dorian Gray was written in 1890 when the beauty models where different. Ben's beauty is more adjusted to today's beauty canons.

let's wait and see...Dorian Gray is one of the most successful charactor that was created of all time. i sincerely hope Ben can nail it. You are right, blonde or burnette, doesnt matter, what really matters in bringing Dorian Gray to life is a really good grasp of his SOUL and SPIRIT. it's like on one hand, i have one of my fav gothic charactors, on the other hand, i have one of my fav actors. I really cant wait to see the magic when they become one :)

I've heard about some complains of people saying Ben's look is not appropiated to playing Dorian Gray's character. Well, Dorian Gray is about the superficiality of the physical beauty and the spirit corruption through the limitless cult to the carnal pleasures. The history is about a very beautiful man whose physical beauty, inocence and immaculate soul captivated everyone. I think it does not matter if Dorian is blond or not, Ben has the deep and essential beauty the book talks about.

Yes, there's a photograph out there of a blonde, blue-eyed Ben Barnes as Dorian Gray....he still looks cute....though he is retaining his brown-eyed, brown hair look for the movie from what I seen and heard so far!

I absolutely agree! I just read "The Picture of Dorian Gray" a couple of months ago when I learned that Ben was going to be in the lead role. The promotion photograph is almost exactly as I had envisioned both Ben and Colin. I can't wait til the movie comes out!
