I think of what should be the same if this ever got made into an animation, they should still have the same characteristics from the real one, like Mitsuru still being teased by Haruki and having Mitsuru dressed as some kinda butler or something. XD But then Haruki would boss Kyonko around like bringing a whole air conditioning machine from the store to the club room by herself. XD
If the Suzumiya Haruki no Seitenkan novels(I say novels, it's really just 9 chapters at the moment) are anything to go by then you'd be pretty much correct.

well so far all the episodes have been from the novel. But I would love to see an episode where they're genderbendered. They should do it for an OVA.

I think the only thing that would change is their genders. It would be fun to se how diffrent the story becomes just because you change the genders.
