That's a nice Kelly tool as I call it, yes it is 45 ft we have one to, we pull ours with an 8295r and 9330, our 8430 would to if it had front duals. We use ours to work corn ground right after we cut it to make it easier to disk, to knock down rice stubble to burn it (faster than a stubble roller), and to break up soybean ground after cutting the beans. Nice video!
good video mate but they aren't that hard to pull, i was pulling a 45 foot brookfield disc chain with a 7630 and it was doing it easy up to about the 16km\h mark, and to answer dudeman92385's question, basically replace harrows you can put them behind your air seeder or put a small seed box on them to sow pasture or canola into plowed ground. They can also be used for bed preperation, whether it be making the bed finer etc. or you can use them for weed managment, which they are effective.
i use the Salford on my ground..it dries it out real good and leaves an awesome seed bed...its pretty spendy but well worth it...it pulls like a SOB need a high HP tractor to pull it
Im starting to see alot of these tools around so i thought id check it out here to see what kind of job they do. what do you guys use this for . Do you cover your seed with it or making a seed bed? It looks like it does a good job but i just dont see the price for such a simple tool.
a 8320 is between 190 to 220 hp and that is not a conventional disk its only a harrow so it has small blades cuts about 3 to 4" deep and the blades are welded into a chain with a swivel bearing on each end of the chain. google kelly's disk chain. thinking of getting one to cover broadcasted wheat seeds and oats and possibly knock over corn stalks
JD's a very good tractors but not the only thing that can pull that unit. there are other tractors with the same weight and wheel distribution that could do the job as well.
What part of northeast Arkansas are you?
