I am having trouble listening to my music on my ipod. It comes out on my itunes, but not on my ipod. I don't know why. I didn everything you said in the video
@GwenDUff Great question. the recorded sound quality depends mainly on the Microphone, the sound card and the sound room. If you use a good condenser mic in a hall it will sound bad. If you have a properly setup soundproofed padded room wit acoustic absorbing material on the walls it will sound good, clear and not hollow. Sound card is important but your PC card may suffice if it has 24 bit 48 KHz minimum. 24 bit 96K is better.
@GwenDUff Then once the sound is recorded there is the mixing which in itself can make or brake the song. Istruggeld for years trying to create PC based songs but could never reach pro level quality. I can make a decent demo recording, but for the kind of recording you need for radio and selling CDs I decided to go to a profeesional studio wher they charge around $65/hour.
@GwenDUffSo depending on your needs, goals, time and budget you can decide. At least buy a good sound card and mic . I would suggest a Tascam 144L sound card or simila, lLexicon, and a sure SM58 microphone which works well for the voice and instruments if you dont have a padded room. Cost is $100 for the mic and around $175 for the sound card
@GwenDUff which plugs into the USB and has the cubase software included. Listen to my song caalled "the Invisible man" for an example of a homespun PC recording. Took around 15 hours of work.
@GwenDUff I should also add that cubse LE is s subset of the same software used in proffessional studios. There is no difference in software quality in capturing the sound files. The main difference is going to be in the microphone quality, the mic preamplifier and the sound booth used, A studio profffessional mic like a Blue KIWI can cost around US$3000 and an Avalon preamp can cost the same or more. All this adds up to the final sound quality. Then there is the skill of the sound engineer etc
Okay question: when adding reverb and effects and stuff, is there a way that you don't add the effect to the whole entire track, and just a part of it? I'm used to using audacity, so this is pretty complicated haha.
@saftelskeren If you are using Cubase LE4 their should be 4 styereo and 8 mono tracks automatically enabled when you start a new project. Otherwise Right click the monotrack and the dropdwon will let you add an audio track, select this, then you will see another dropdown that allows you to select mono or stereo, select stereo.
No wonder I could not figure it out by myself!!!! Easy is different, no? Its a very tricky program to start with. Especially for dummies like me..;) in any case: this video, I am sure, will help LOADS of people that bought the Zoomh4n and want to work with cubase. I was desperate to find a video like this!!
@Qpidon You are welcome Pascal. I've been through the pain of figuring this stuff out mainly due to the fact there isn't a simple, easy to use basic instrucion set available. You can use the Cubase help menu but mat need a degree in science! Regards. Simon.
whats the song you play as a recording?

hey there, thank you very much for the vid. Very informative.
Now, I have to ask. Is it possible to record and mix vocals to a professional level
using a PC, Cubase and no major hardware.
I recently heard a pro recording vid and was blown away.
It was labeled: Ne-Yo - Sexy Love (acapella).
The background vocals / harmonies sound so clean and smooth.
Is it unreasonable to think that this can be done on my home PC.
