  • Oh my god, IT'S NOT FAKE!!!!!! This is from the DVD, I have it on mine too.

  • They must've had a can of Red Bull each.

  • Fake. There's no way a great director like Ridley Scott would have produced an ending like that. That's totally not credible !

  • @elbarto94 It's not fake, everyone involved with the producing detested this ending, causing Ridley to make a new ending.

  • Fake ?!

  • Ja!, women have wings.Don't push them to break it bad, it could be more terrible to what men do. I Keep original end.

  • Of course they died in both ends. This one looks so fake.

  • can't say the difference with the original one (just seen) O__o

    they survived or not??

  • Texas is the deserted area of USA. Well, here in Brazil, the inner northeast is half-deserted, an environment similar to these we see in Texas. I just love traveling these areas, so hot that I can drink 2l of water in 1 hour, but I just love being there.

About the end, it was better to stop when the car was flying, they did well in cutting this alternative ending.

  • What a way to go! And we've got a perfert bluff over the river.....

  • 3 kinds of bean green bean, string bean, and lezbean

  • @brotherguy8 they AREN'T lesbians. they kissed eachother out of friendship and love for eachother as friends. Do you not realize that they were both in relationships with..MEN?

  • @sassygalpartybabe sounds like lesbians to me

  • Was the music actually in the alternet ending? or was it added in this video? I think it doesnt fit well with the scene.

I like the original ending better then this though it was more epic when it faded out mid fall. plus when it shows them driving down the road afterward I was like WTF! they landed it?

  • @nativepoint14 I think it's metaphorical.

  • silly lesbians

  • The scene was actually filmed in the Colorado River, in Moab, Utah. I was there when they shot the cliff dive. The car actually landed into the river. People were hired to go down and get the car from the river. The diver, while hooking the car up to a boat, claimed, "They left stunt doubles in the car!" He actually touched Thelma and/or Louise...dummies.....they actually still have those Thelma and Louise dummies.. The real ending was a rip, because I sat through a whole chick flick to see it.

  • @girlyoudontknow123

Is it the Dead Horse Point State Park, UT?

  • @andrew272355 no on the north side of the CO River.

  • @girlyoudontknow123

    That's an epic story!

  • @girlyoudontknow123 do you think it's only a chick flick.? It's more than that... it's a movie about their relationship

  • They coulda put the top up half way like PeeWee did then floated to the bottom then cruised on.

  • It doesn't need to specifically state that it is a feminist text, in order for it to be informed by feminism. It's about women escaping from men's violence and abuse; of course it's feminist, which is why it's so powerful and speaks to so many women.

  • Like the alternative better...

  • just like most law enforcement overkill...did they really need 120 cops there to make sure they didnt escape via the "secret route" out of the Grand Canyon?

Thumbs up if you arent turned off by Susan Sarandon's golfballs for eyes!

  • this is allegedly the original ending. XD

  • hahaha this is funny.

  • A dusty victory lap. Keep on' keepin' on girls! You win!

  • 2:45

2 people still in that car, only explanation?

    BASE Jumpers.

  • I prefer this version, to be honest, the music, the car driving off. You know its not real but somehow it is. :D i like it

  • Ridley Scott LOVED the helicopter swooping down over harvey Keitel's head --

and hated to lose it, but no one wanted to "see the girls die", in the Director's words -- so he changed the ending to catch them free, and in mid-flight. Also, the BB King soundtrack in the background replaced the original music Hans Zimmer wrote for that scene, cuase the BB King music was more "optimistic". Very cool. Saw this on the bonus feature on the DVD. Fascinating.

  • lol, first time I saw this I was liek "epic fail," nand then I saw the car still going at the end and got the concept. They were continuing their roadtrip in spirit. So I smiled :)

  • Best goddamn feminist movie ever - They wont be had by any man, even in death, take that mofos.

  • When the car went out of view i was expecting a puff of smoke like on roadrunner cartoons.

  • More like... there's no way the car survived that... however I still like to think they did survive and make it to mexico... :D

  • Holy Shit!.. they landed!!

  • @easyskanin69 For how simple this comment is, it definitely made me laugh my ass off. Thumbs up to you.

  • There is NO F*CKING WAY they survived that........SO WAT IN THE WORLD IS THAT ENDING ***REALLY ABOUT?***

  • they should of landed on the helicopter than flew away on it.

  • @the0th love this comment, the best!!!!!!!!

  • @the0th yes!

  • diz was fram Wayen world 3 endin

  • buuuuuuuuuu , original is much much better

  • i like this ending

  • Volando hacia la libertad.....

  • There's no way they survived that. They're on their road trip to heaven. :-)

  • @TheUniversalWoman I think that's the best interpretation

  • @TheUniversalWoman Unless they jumped out at the last minute.

  • @TheUniversalWoman Out of the world, that's what Callie Khouri said, they were too big for this world, like the world couldn't contain them.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheUniversalWoman Anyone that believes in heaven needs a serious evaluation. They're dead... that's it, except the story they left behind.

  • @coreystewart55 I "evaluate" people for a living so I won't judge you for your beliefs. Don't judge me for mine. Just have keep posting stupid stuff on Youtube, as we all do, and have a little fun.

  • What in the unholy name of ass is this fuckness? This ending sucks!

  • I DO prefer this one... I don't like the original one... whith slow-down Harvey and the flash at the end! I love the movie but I hate the ending... this one is so much better!

  • well, they could've let the car hit, and then their spirits floating up hand in hand....just a thought.

  • fantastico...............

  • well obviously ... the original one is better, but obviously the alternative ending

also meant they died, but continued THEIR journey? (you know in their hearts and souls etc.)

Am I the only one who agrees? x

  • @terasteras I agree! in a way it was still quite emotional, this ending might not of meant to be taken LITERALLY.

  • @terasteras They did not die in the original ending. What are you talking about? The car made it over the canyon.

  • @Gilch30 I just saw the original and the shot freezes when the car is in mid air. I mean I wish they made it over... but where did you get the info about them surviving?

  • @Gilch30 Although you didn't actually see them die, they died, Geena Davis (Thelma) and Susan Sarandon (Louise) have both spoken of how the characters died in the movie.

  • Emm how did it ruin the ending its part of the of the deleted scene i bet you didn't know there was a planed Sequel the were meant to fall in to the river at the end of the canyon but the director deiced just to leave fans wondering and i didn't make this up

  • Escena alternativa que viene en el DVD....!

  • the song totally kills it, its just weird

  • I already cried enough during the first ending... This one just disturbs me. I was hoping for a "happier" alternate ending!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

  • @DivaVirtual888 how was this disturbing?

  • @greenemerald152 I said it disturbed me. If you look up the definition of disturbed, that should explain it!

  • @DivaVirtual888 No, i'm not a dumb ass, i know the definition of the word "disturbed" I am just asking what made you feel uncomfortable about the alternate. Its not a big deal though

  • @greenemerald152 The music interfered with my emotions. It was so upbeat, while they are supposed to be dying. Like it is supposed to be happy or something. I thought it was a very sad ending.

  • To all who are wondering, I don't think they survived in this ending either. i guess the last bit where they drive off is meant to show how they "kept goin" (that is why they went off the cliff 0:16). Its funny how so many people hate this version- I like it...although I'm not so sure about the song (can't say I liked it at the end of the scene).

  • Terrible. Completely makes you loose the emotional ties you feel towards the movie, in addition to the movie loosing a lot of its meaning.

  • i am so glad they didnt use this ending. it sucked

  • Dubbing is way off, ruining the scene anyway. Nice one.

  • 1:31, the moment he relized he failed..

  • Amazing movie....gives a lot of food for thought about the way women are treated by men all over the world.

  • ...Wow, I am SO glad they didn't use this for the movie. Such crap. Totally ruins the emotion.

  • Best movie eva!!!!!

  • hey does anyone understand how they survive? they drive off a GODDAMN CLIFF!!! so what they crashed, got up smoothed out the small dents in the side with a hammer and drove off cuz the car is such a beast?? oh i know the car turned out to be a transformer and saved them as they were about to crash into the ground!!! seriously any ideas?? oh and read the argument between

JackInTheBox1616 and leafyutube...funny how it degrades ^^ (oh if either of u take offense at that plz dont vent on me. =D)

  • Much better ending GOOD FOR THEM1

  • This version isn't quite the same as the alternate ending on the dvd. The audio's slightly out of sync, and a different version of Better Not Look Down was used. I know this may be controversial, but I actually prefer this ending to the one in the movie. I think the song is appropriate because it captures the emotional high of their decision, and this was the song the screenwriter had wanted to use. Hans Zimmer's score is gorgeous and I also love it, but I do like seeing it this way.

  • omg i started laughing when i heard the song T_T OMG LMAO

  • LOL! JackInTheBox got owned on this one.

I took a Women in Film course at Princeton years ago and we studied this movie extensively. The prof we had was a radical feminist yet even she admitted that a major criticism of this movie has always been that it glorified violence, so Leafy makes a perfectly valid point. There are ways to portray strong women in film and so many movies have done. You don't have to resort to violence to show strong women because it sends the wrong message in my view.

  • @classyfilms i don't think the film glorify violence, but it shows that the only way for women to make it through this men word is to be as violent as them. but i don't have the feeling it really makes violence look good...

  • @classyfilms Screenwriters don't sit down at their computers and say "I'm going to write a movie to SAY something political." They sit down at their computers to write a story. Callie Khouri wasn't trying to be feminist when writing Thelma & Louise. She had a vision, and she made it come true. And won the Oscar as well. Just because a movie has women shooting doesn't mean the artist intended this to make a statement. Not all art has to be purposeful. It just is.

  • @JasonMovieGuy

Just because the artist didn't INTEND it does not make it right.

  • so they survived? they road off a cliff!

  • I found the Thelma & Louise-like ending in The Simpsons better than this.

  • i don't think this song ruined the end! you expect a sad song? they are happy! they died happy!

  • Both endings are nothing special. Over-rated movie. Feminist psycho trash.

  • @leafyutube Your just scared because the females were put in the superior roles. Dont be a such a coward

  • @JackInTheBox1616

You call criminal behavior a "superior role"?

    Nice moral compass you've got.

  • @leafyutube What I mean by superior role is how they played characters outside the stereotypical look of what women are portrayed to be. Alot of men didnt like this movie out of fear because the man is not the one in charge of the situation. These women dont put up with being treated with disrespect. That is what I mean by superior role. Sorry I thought it was pretty obvious.

  • @JackInTheBox1616

That's nonsense. Is this movie a good role model for young women, yes or no?

  • @leafyutube Yes you would think what I said was nonsense. you have a 2 dimentional way at looking at movie themes. what I said has nothing to do with being a good role model for younger girls. You should read it again but this time more slowly.

  • @JackInTheBox1616

It's a simple question: Is this movie a good role model for young women, yes or no?

IF it is NOT, then all your points are irrelevant, because what would be the point of a feminist movie if it is a poor role model for women? Explain.

It is YOU who needs to read more slowly.

  • @leafyutube No I dont think I dont, I understood from the beginning. The point of the movie is protraying the sisterhood between these two women and how they wont let any man bring them down and prevent them from treating them like garbage. Again, go back and read my comments slowly. But if you dont understand by now then thats sad. I had never once said that criminal behaviour is good. Sure their indepence as women who dont tolerate disrespect from men is something that would be something

  • @leafyutube to look up to. Are you familiar with the phrase "think outside the box" ? You should try it

  • @JackInTheBox1616

It is YOU who is not thinking outside the box. Further, why can't you answer those 2 questions? Pretty obvious why.

  • @leafyutube Am I talking to a wall? I just did answer you pathetic question. Obviously I am thinking outside the box because I just told you what the true meaning was. if u were narrow minded and dont branch out to different possiblities thinking outside the box wouldnt be very possible. To be honest I have grown tired of all ur silly remarks and now it is a complete waste of my time.

  • @JackInTheBox1616

Oh, so you acknowledge that the criminal behavior in this movie is NOT the right message to send? Wow! Quite an admission!!!

Well, then answer the second question:

Since the women turning criminal is NOT a good role model for young women, then how in the world is this a good movie for young girls to watch? What is the message it sends to young women? Answer the question!

  • @leafyutube OMFG! YOU DONT UNDERSTAND ANYTHNNG!

I think i have answered ur question like at least 10 TIMES!

    LEARN TO READ!

  • @JackInTheBox1616

No you did NOT answer the question. Not very bright, are you? Typical 18 year old idiot.

  • @leafyutube

Ew you creep dont be looking up my info.

Dont be talking, the fact that ur a leaf fan makes ur stupid already.

And yes I did answer ur question. But since ur so dumb I will have to quote myself

"The point of the movie is protraying the sisterhood between these two women and how they wont let any man bring them down and prevent them from treating them like garbage" That is the message for women and young girls! You have no idea how much disrespect we get!

  • @JackInTheBox1616

You're stupid, retarded, and dysfunctional. Get a life!!!!!!!

  • @leafyutube Dont be mad, your agurment was flawed. Ur short term memory is acting up again :) your the one pestering me remember? with ur stupid questions. Please dont be telling me to get a life. look at ur situation.

  • @JackInTheBox1616

I'm not mad. You're just stupid. How does that make me mad?

  • @leafyutube because I just beat u in an argument and now ur "trying" to insult me. LOL.

    haha.... so sad

  • @JackInTheBox1616

It's obvious you never won an argument in your life. Stupid people don't win arguments. Everyone knows that.

  • @leafyutube

You tried to put up a good fight. Lesson learned for u. Dont fight a battle u cant win. The Leafs would agree :)

  • @JackInTheBox1616

Any person, feminist or otherwise, who can't see nor admit the moral limitations of this movie is either plain stupid, or not a fair-minded person. Now fuckoff.

  • @leafyutube

Dont comment about movies that u have completely missed the point of. You sound stupid. Now fuckoff urself, I was begging u 10 comments ago. Idiots never listen.

  • @JackInTheBox1616

So you're saying an 18 year old little fuckhead like you understands movies, or life for that matter?

What could you have possibly experienced in your short life that makes you an authority and mouth off to other people's opinions about movies?

  • @leafyutube Please stop making judgements against people because of age. Thats ageism. Authority and mouth off about people's opinions about movies? what the fuck? Do I need a license to talk as I please? who the fuck do u think u are? You make it sound like we are talking about a university level of psychology. I am educated asshole! 18 is not young FYI, I am an adult STUPID!

  • @JackInTheBox1616

LISTEN BITCH! There is absolutely NO WAY you know anything about life at age 18. Textbooks is no substitute for life experience. But in your case, it's even worse. You're retarded on top. Now I told you to stop writing and to go fuck yourself!!!

  • @leafyutube YOU DONT NEED LIFE EXPERENCES TO UNDERSTAND A FUCKING MOVIE MOTHERFUCKER!

For the way ur behaving ur DEFINITELY younger than I am. When I mean educated, I dont mean I can read a fucking textbook so I know everything. I mean that I am smart and that I work are and apply myself IDIOT! im retarded on top? ya u sound like a 13 brat. go fuck urself with a cucumber bitch! Dont u fucking dare tell me that I dont know anything about movies when you just made a complete fool of urself.

  • @JackInTheBox1616

BITCH, when you start insulting others - remember it was YOU who started the insults - then you have to expect insults back.

Now I'm wondering what you're still doing here when I told you to go fuck yourself.

  • Hey anyone know the song that plays in this scene? Tried looking through the credits when i rented the movie but i didn't find it there

  • i prefer this ending. so simbolic and touching....

  • pero el coce dando ueltas y cuando cae aun va? es impossible xD

  • a song with a pic, that is all this is

  • WTF?

  • lol forst they drop off the cilff and the next moment they're driving away xD

    kinda impossible?

  • @jel018 i dunno if this ending is really by those who made the film, but if so, it is meant symbolically: it means: t & l "keep going for ever". as we all know the realisation of a big thought supposed to hit our mind always minimizes the impact. in the real ending that thought is triggered by the freeze frame". at least this is so in western cultures, while in rather eastern culture everything symbolic is spelled out and done till the last "burning horse" or "flying flowers" (vomit!)

  • Cause They Were Finna Die

  • @paolonutiniargentina They're about to die. I'm sure they are pretty emotional. There's nothing sexual about that kiss.

  • @thewanksta36 Well it doesn't have to be sexual to have lesbian undertones, I'm just saying. Any way I'm not going to ruin it by labeling it, either way it was a beautiful relationship.

  • DO THE ONE WITH THE BENNY HlLL THEME

AND THEN THE CAR GOES TO FLYING IN SPACE

THEY GO lNTO THE BOARDER OF MEXICO AND LEAD THE FRENCH TO VICTORY

AND THE MOVIE GOES ON FOR 3 HOURS

  • harvey keitel's great.

  • Nothing's better about this ending :D

The car flips around and they die - just like you'd expect from the normal ending.

  • I like this ending better

  • Thank goodness they didn't use this crap ending.

  • lol,yeah I agree.

  • @powerbookg I'd say the original ending is crap too...

  • @powerbookg this isn't a real ending. it's just something someone put together.

  • @travpoet You're bad, it's the actual alternate ending. Just look, you scrub - those shots of Harvey Keitel looking down and the chopper going over the cliff to the look for the car are not something someone could "put together" ex post facto - they're clearly alternate takes they didn't use in the final version. Oh, and it's on the official DVD release as an alternate ending, something that people who actually own the film would know...a demographic of which you are clearly not a member.

  • the song fits the movie perfectly, just not the ending. the other song makes it much more dramatic. thank you though! <3 although u killed my delusion of them suviving when u showed the car actually falling down the grand canyon. i know there gone but i can still pretend! :P

  • I prefer the theatre ending version. The music in this one totally ruined it too. The other ending is way more emotional and better in my opinion

  • i love harvey keitel

  • gay love viva forever!"

    :)

  • amen

  • Shut up dyke.

  • that song completely ruined a really emotional important part of the film. damn.

  • @TheMrGobble This is how the writer wanted it.

  • @TheMrGobble totally agree. Jesus Christ! Hahah. And it totally look like other people were inspired by there abilities that the damn helicopter dove off with them. hahahah! Br00t4L!

  • @TheMrGobble

I think I would have preferred this ending had they not messed it up with a stupid song like that.

  • Nice!

  • is it just me or is something wrong with the sound

  • WoW. Thanks for sharing this. I still prefer the ending that was used, but this was very interesting.

  • Keitil is so sexy...ummm i saw his beautiful body in the piano movie...so hot...

  • If u think Keitel's body is sexy, then let me recommend the movie " Bad Lieutenant" from 1992, you can see his whole body there, including his penis

  • I don't get it...so did they die or not? What helicopter has to do with anything?

  • Basically, this "alternative ending" is mostly what we'd expect to see after their death: the car falling a bit more & some extended footage of Keitel and the cops running around. The car speeding away at the end is a representation of their Escape...either way the ending is the same.

  • @AgathaKT Pretty sure they died. Did you not see their car go racing off a cliff?

  • how did u find this footage? thats amazing

  • much better ending.

  • YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  • best ending,,,, especially after Thelma had an AWAKE MYSTICAL-LIKE experience in the earlier scene, just keep going,,,,Anything is possible, when you tap beyond reality, matter space and time

  • Callie wanted this ending

  • This was SO much better

  • Very touching!

  • Ah si! Io avevo visto questo 6-7 anni fa, mi sembrava che mancava qualcosa ieri, quando l'ho rivisto

Ah si! I had seen this 6-7 years ago, it seemed to me that something was missing yesterday, when I reviewed

  • I love the moment @ 2:49. Looks like Thelma & Louise sitting in the car that's riding away.

  • chances are they fell in the water so I'm able to sleep at night that there is a CHANCE they didn't die a painful death from rocks

  • Guys. The ending is symbolic that the two of them are still together riding, even in death.

  • this is more like a tv-movie ending....

    I love the original

I think that The Wrestler ending is something like this

  • this ending is not that good because it shows two whole minutes without the main characters, and is boring

  • Comment removed

  • Of course they died. How could the possibly have survived a plunge into the grand canyon? Have you ever been there? It's a mile deep. The scene of the car driving at the end was symbolic ya dipshit....

  • either way that is just a crude ending

  • 1:22 lol they're wearing hats.
