I love the 4.4 liter in my 740il. I'm assuming this 540i probably has the same engine? I'm not impressed with the late 90's plastic in my bimmer, but I love the engineering that went into it. That engine is the best I've ever had. Not the most powerful that I've had, but still the best. It's extremely smooth and well balanced internally. It feels absolutely bullitt proof. Not the last bimmer I by for sure. I'll be looking for a 540i in a year. What a combo.

thats why i was confused since the e34 started in 88. i knew for a fact my e34 535 had the biggest engine next to the M in 89, i guess until '92 did they introduce something new.

You're a moron, the uploader already said these are original HELLA tail lights.

There was a rare option in Germany to get these smoked factory. The outer pieces are smoked slightly, the inner pieces are made out of black plastic.

These are street legal since all lights are visible and are an OEM part, but i don't think they're DOT approved since they were never available in the US.

They are actually Hella tinted tail lights. Very rare and hard to find. I had these shipped to me from Germany a few years back.

yeah BMW 525i se e34 are £1000 standard i got a bmw 525i se e34 today for £600 came with rims and tint but he put a M badge on front and back and im thinking of replacing the to standard bmw badges

I have a 2002 6-sp and get 23.5 around the city and 29-33 on the highway. 29 cruising at 80mph.

And Pugsley....maybe you could get a 95 for 1000 aand I understand why with gas at $8 or 10 a gallon...you are going to be driving go-carts with umbrellas soon. Long and short....best car I've ever had..and I've had many.

The stock diff ratio for my car is 2.83, which I replaced for the 3.64 LSD. If I had the 2.83 still I'd be getting crazy high gas mileage but the car wouldn't get around as quick.

E34 M5 and E38 7 series, namely 2001 750i Sports are the best bimmers made. how com the M5 has a straight six and the 540i has an v8? i dont get that.

the straight 6 in the M5 made more hp than the V8...it was a detuned M88 race motor..handbuilt only in limited numbers..individual throttle bodies..2 part cylinder head..forged internals..tuned equal length headers..cam is so lumpy in idles at 850-950 rpm..cost at the time was 60K new

Damn, so what was the M88 placed in? Was it just in like road race M5's in Europe? But no way did it cost 60k, maybe high 50k by the end of the E34 gen in '95. You could've bought an E39 new in 2000 for under 70k

the M88 were in put in the M1 procars made 480-490hp; twin turbocharged M88/2 made 850-900 used in european group 5 racing .... the first gen M cars E24(M6), E28(m5) got the M88/3 motor made 282 hp..2nd gen M5 (E34) got the revised M88..called S38b36 made 310hp in europe they got the the bored out version S38B38 made 335hp....because of labour cost; each car took 2 weeks to build an M5 did cost about 60K at the time a 10K over a regular E34..check around and see for yourself
