Yeah, I'm almost positive they used autotune for Starland but they did have shows like Starland without the autotune. Their management probably made them do it.
First of all, I am speaking specifically of the Starland DVD performance. Watch Everything Evil...at the end of the song he says "Goodbye"..the use of autotune is apparent. Next look at the beginning of the "The Light and the glass"..I don't even know what he was trying to say be it came out distorted. Anyone with an sense of hearing can hear the subtle use of autotune on the Starland performance. I am not the only one to come to this conclusion. Of course the use of it does not detract
You don't use auto-tune during a live setting. They would use it while mixing the audio down in a studio for the DVD. No audio engineer would be dumb enough to leave it past the last word of a song. I'm sorry, but you're wrong. So no, there is no "apparent use" of auto-tune.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Pitch correction can and is often used in concerts. While it is possible it was used in the actual editing of footage it is also entirely possible it could have been used during the live performance. Listen to the Starland Delirium Trigger performance...crank the volume and actually listen.
I'm well aware of this. I'm an audio engineer. Now how about you stop assuming and spreading rumors when you are completely incorrect with your accusation. You shouldn't have to "crank the volume" in order to hear pitch-correction/ auto-tune. Thank you for proving my point.
You have refuted any of the examples i have provide. You simply state that I am "completely incorrect". In what ways are the examples provided inconsistent? Please enlighten me, Mr. "audio engineer".
The simple fact that there is clearly NO AUTO-TUNE/PITCH CORRECTION being used in any part of the Starland dvd/cd. The only validation you have for your accusations is.... oh wait... you have none.
hahaha. "Refuted". Gosh, that tickles me. Stop trying so hard, you may hurt yourself.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Man, you sure are a master debater. Your complete single-mindedness really shines through. How about instead of attacking my linguistics, attack my references. Feeling the need to add the "hahaha" definitely shows your incompetence.
However, in the Starland Ballroom performance, Claudio is using some effects on his vocals that when combined with his voice gives it that jumpy sort of sound given by autotune. He's using a flanger, reverb and I think I one point he uses a mild octaver ( splits the voice in two and plays it unisoned in a lower octave).
If he was using autotune there wouldn't be any mistakes in key or pitch, but there weren't.
@GodsentHellraiser autotune is more like an effect like what the rappers use, you would be referring to pitch correction which he might not be using here but in the full on band performances i can be sure he does and so does just about anyother singer whose on a label, only because it makes for a more perfect performance.
im not by any means trying to be a dick or anything like that, but A( how would you know, and B( no matter how good of a singer you are, you are gonna use pitch correction and there is no shame in it. ive never heard claudio go out of pitch, even when his voice squeeks or cracks, which tells me he more than likely uses it.
Because I personally have witnessed him IN PERSON go out of pitch in a live, full band concert that THEY headlined a year ago...
Besides that, anything other than an effect can't be used live. Pitch correction (the kind you're talking about) requires you to go through and by hand select and change parts. An autotune like effect is what he'd use live (Which takes the incorrect notes and stretch them to the nearest correct note).
actually pitch correction is used live because my band has used it. and likei said even when he messes up and squeeks or cracks it still stays in harmony, and yes it is a pitch correction tool which has only been able to be used live since 97. read about it if you dont believe me.
No, all main stream music uses autotune, it's just the rappers that were too stupid to work it so there is no frequencies between the notes like a real voice.
Exactly, it is obvious that he used some form of pitch correction during the Starland performance, not saying that it is bad. He is there to put on a show and to do it in the best possible way.
omggg thank you , i was trying to tell people that he was using some sort of effect during the starland ballroom and everyone was like NOOO!!!!!! like if u listen to the crowing u can clearly hear some sort effect
Yeah, he talks at various points in the show and the effect he was using would make him sound retarded. For example at the end of the show he said "Goodbye" and sounded like someone off of the Ringer.
@onethatactuallyexist lol that was just Claudio being silly..having fun. But yes, he has some kind of vocal effect, is it a big one? no, but it's there.
lol being silly. i love how everybody always describes claudio with words for like stuffed animals and shit. they call him "fuzzy" and "cuddly" even though hes up there singing about a father killing his own children lolz. anyway, i think that if claudio wrote this stuff partly to be looked at as a badass, he failed miserably cause hes too man cute to scary lolz
Again, you're an idiot. Any vocal tweek made by a machine would qualify as an enhancement. My wording was intentional, but, because you're a fool, you tried to use it as an argument. In starland ballroom, they SCREAM often, if there was a vocal effect, those screams would produce feedback. They don't, you're stupid.
First of all the screams would not make "Gnarly feedback". Bands use pitch correction all of the time for the sole purpose of screaming. Secondly, Mic screamed a majority of the time, aside from IKSSE3.
Check out Everything Evil at Starland, listen to how he says Goodbye at the end. I think he also says something weird at the beginning of The Light and the Glass.
He has effects and pedals like crazy, but he is NOT using anything to correct his voice. I've seen Coheed a bunch of times, and besides them, I've been to more than a hundred hardcore concerts, I've heard autotune make screams sound like yelps. My argument is, Claudio is one of the last real musicians in the business, and I'm sick of dumbasses saying he fakes it.
Ok buddy, I never said that he consistently uses any pitch correction. We all know that he does not fake it, so stop with the horseshit. I've seen Coheed several times to, that mines nothing. Your experience going to "Hardcore" concerts means shit. The fact of the matter is that albeit before or after the fact, Starland has some effects.
"Hardcore" is a type of music, cunt. You jumped into an argument about pitch correction, so you're an idiot for trying to act like you didn't ever think he used it. I bet you're a nickelback fan.
You are a true dumbass. I never said I did not know what Hardcore music is. I listen to Coheed so I see how you can make the Nickleback connection. How about you take your faggot fuck self, be a true badass, and listen to your "hardcore" music.
Again, a comment coming from you with no clear message. You've argued and lost with every fan on this video. Get the fuck off of autotune's nuts and go kill yourself.
Let me start by saying that you have made no valid points about Starland. There are many other fans who agree with me, look below. No need to freak the fuck out when someone comes to a different conclusion than you.
@GoodEyeSniper2113 There's a good falsetto in the official recording of the Acoustic Junesong Provision. Claudio kind of...whispers when he uses his falsetto.
@GoodEyeSniper2113 uhh i wouldnt say hes one of the last..their is a lot of musicians like him out there. most of them are underground/indie stuff though.. (for example silversun pickups, lukas rossi/stars down, etc) the only effects claudio uses on his voice is echo. which pretty much everyone uses live. but here there is NO effects on his voice at all. you can hear it. but yes, he is amazing, and im sick of people claiming hes fake too. hes not my favourite but he is WAY underrated by many people
@Nightmare356 You need to give more examples than 3 or bands to say he isn't *one* of the last, day by day the number of true musicians is decreasing because it's easier to use effects rather than talent.
@dom182 coheed uses effects more than you think. when they are live they get the pterodactyl screech (someimtes) from an effect pedal and he slides up the neck. i dont remember what its called...could just be delay. true musicians at todays date us decreasing in POP music. a lot of the true musicians are underground/indie. mostly because they dont have money to get to their heads.
Jackaloop, she doesn't scream "Would you run down past the fence." It goes "And she screamed Claudio, dear Claudio, I wish goddammitm, you'll make it if you believe."
Anyone know what the changed lyrics are at the end?

You don't use auto-tune during a live setting. They would use it while mixing the audio down in a studio for the DVD. No audio engineer would be dumb enough to leave it past the last word of a song. I'm sorry, but you're wrong. So no, there is no "apparent use" of auto-tune.

Pitch correction can and is often used in concerts. While it is possible it was used in the actual editing of footage it is also entirely possible it could have been used during the live performance. Listen to the Starland Delirium Trigger performance...crank the volume and actually listen.
onethatactuallyexist 2 years ago
I'm well aware of this. I'm an audio engineer. Now how about you stop assuming and spreading rumors when you are completely incorrect with your accusation. You shouldn't have to "crank the volume" in order to hear pitch-correction/ auto-tune. Thank you for proving my point.

You have refuted any of the examples i have provide. You simply state that I am "completely incorrect". In what ways are the examples provided inconsistent? Please enlighten me, Mr. "audio engineer".
onethatactuallyexist 2 years ago
The simple fact that there is clearly NO AUTO-TUNE/PITCH CORRECTION being used in any part of the Starland dvd/cd. The only validation you have for your accusations is.... oh wait... you have none.
hahaha. "Refuted". Gosh, that tickles me. Stop trying so hard, you may hurt yourself.

Man, you sure are a master debater. Your complete single-mindedness really shines through. How about instead of attacking my linguistics, attack my references. Feeling the need to add the "hahaha" definitely shows your incompetence.
onethatactuallyexist 2 years ago
Man, someone loves their thesaurus...
As for your "references", you really have none. You're just hearing shit. =*
Case dismissed.

Again, reverting to the linguistics attack. You sir are the true definition of a "D-bag", "Mr. Quotations".

Oh, so lets completely ignore the fact that I'm not also speaking of your "references'. Lets rethink who is a douche bag. What a fucking joke. lol

i really dont see how you can hear any auto tune though.
i dont see why people cant believe that he sings like that when his voice is low...
Zebrahead519 2 years ago
It is not autotune.
Claudio Sanchez using autotune...
That's gotta be a joke.
GodsentHellraiser 2 years ago 3
@GodsentHellraiser autotune is more like an effect like what the rappers use, you would be referring to pitch correction which he might not be using here but in the full on band performances i can be sure he does and so does just about anyother singer whose on a label, only because it makes for a more perfect performance.
brianvillage123 2 years ago
Claudio doesn't use pitch correction of any kinda live. I don't know about in the studio, but he doesn't use it live.
GodsentHellraiser 2 years ago
im not by any means trying to be a dick or anything like that, but A( how would you know, and B( no matter how good of a singer you are, you are gonna use pitch correction and there is no shame in it. ive never heard claudio go out of pitch, even when his voice squeeks or cracks, which tells me he more than likely uses it.
brianvillage123 2 years ago
You're not listening very closely, then...
GodsentHellraiser 2 years ago
actually pitch correction is used live because my band has used it. and likei said even when he messes up and squeeks or cracks it still stays in harmony, and yes it is a pitch correction tool which has only been able to be used live since 97. read about it if you dont believe me.
brianvillage123 2 years ago
Dude.. I'm telling you.
Claudio doesn't use it.
I've witnessed him MYSELF mess up in a full band performance.
GodsentHellraiser 2 years ago 2
Claudio messed up? what a stupid, cute, awesome bear. :D <3
Midnah8 2 years ago
No, all main stream music uses autotune, it's just the rappers that were too stupid to work it so there is no frequencies between the notes like a real voice.
domdabombabc 2 years ago
Exactly, it is obvious that he used some form of pitch correction during the Starland performance, not saying that it is bad. He is there to put on a show and to do it in the best possible way.
onethatactuallyexist 2 years ago
If he used pitch correction for the starland ballroom, the screams would make for some gnarly feedback. Do your homework.

omggg thank you , i was trying to tell people that he was using some sort of effect during the starland ballroom and everyone was like NOOO!!!!!! like if u listen to the crowing u can clearly hear some sort effect
aaronXroX 2 years ago
Yeah, he talks at various points in the show and the effect he was using would make him sound retarded. For example at the end of the show he said "Goodbye" and sounded like someone off of the Ringer.
onethatactuallyexist 2 years ago
@onethatactuallyexist lol that was just Claudio being silly..having fun. But yes, he has some kind of vocal effect, is it a big one? no, but it's there.
SchwartzO5 1 year ago
lol being silly. i love how everybody always describes claudio with words for like stuffed animals and shit. they call him "fuzzy" and "cuddly" even though hes up there singing about a father killing his own children lolz. anyway, i think that if claudio wrote this stuff partly to be looked at as a badass, he failed miserably cause hes too man cute to scary lolz
toddm160th 1 year ago
He definitely is not using a vocal enhancer, you're an idiot. Claudio is JUST THAT GOOD.

i didnt say VOCAL ENHANCER dumbass i said effect... and there's plenty of legit signers that use EFFECTS so im not bashing him in anyway
i was just pointing something out that i have noticed after watching starland 100 times
aaronXroX 2 years ago
Again, you're an idiot. Any vocal tweek made by a machine would qualify as an enhancement. My wording was intentional, but, because you're a fool, you tried to use it as an argument. In starland ballroom, they SCREAM often, if there was a vocal effect, those screams would produce feedback. They don't, you're stupid.
GoodEyeSniper2113 2 years ago
First of all the screams would not make "Gnarly feedback". Bands use pitch correction all of the time for the sole purpose of screaming. Secondly, Mic screamed a majority of the time, aside from IKSSE3.
onethatactuallyexist 2 years ago
Check out Everything Evil at Starland, listen to how he says Goodbye at the end. I think he also says something weird at the beginning of The Light and the Glass.
onethatactuallyexist 2 years ago
He has effects and pedals like crazy, but he is NOT using anything to correct his voice. I've seen Coheed a bunch of times, and besides them, I've been to more than a hundred hardcore concerts, I've heard autotune make screams sound like yelps. My argument is, Claudio is one of the last real musicians in the business, and I'm sick of dumbasses saying he fakes it.
GoodEyeSniper2113 2 years ago 92
I don't let myself get all bent out of shape over it, but you're absolutely right.
Godbornadam 2 years ago
Ok buddy, I never said that he consistently uses any pitch correction. We all know that he does not fake it, so stop with the horseshit. I've seen Coheed several times to, that mines nothing. Your experience going to "Hardcore" concerts means shit. The fact of the matter is that albeit before or after the fact, Starland has some effects.
onethatactuallyexist 2 years ago
"Hardcore" is a type of music, cunt. You jumped into an argument about pitch correction, so you're an idiot for trying to act like you didn't ever think he used it. I bet you're a nickelback fan.
GoodEyeSniper2113 2 years ago
You are a true dumbass. I never said I did not know what Hardcore music is. I listen to Coheed so I see how you can make the Nickleback connection. How about you take your faggot fuck self, be a true badass, and listen to your "hardcore" music.

onethatactuallyexist 2 years ago
Again, a comment coming from you with no clear message. You've argued and lost with every fan on this video. Get the fuck off of autotune's nuts and go kill yourself.
GoodEyeSniper2113 2 years ago
Let me start by saying that you have made no valid points about Starland. There are many other fans who agree with me, look below. No need to freak the fuck out when someone comes to a different conclusion than you.

@GoodEyeSniper2113 There's a good falsetto in the official recording of the Acoustic Junesong Provision. Claudio kind of...whispers when he uses his falsetto.
IWishGoddammit 1 year ago
@GoodEyeSniper2113 uhh i wouldnt say hes one of the last..their is a lot of musicians like him out there. most of them are underground/indie stuff though.. (for example silversun pickups, lukas rossi/stars down, etc) the only effects claudio uses on his voice is echo. which pretty much everyone uses live. but here there is NO effects on his voice at all. you can hear it. but yes, he is amazing, and im sick of people claiming hes fake too. hes not my favourite but he is WAY underrated by many people
Nightmare356 1 year ago
@Nightmare356 You need to give more examples than 3 or bands to say he isn't *one* of the last, day by day the number of true musicians is decreasing because it's easier to use effects rather than talent.
dom182 1 year ago
@dom182 coheed uses effects more than you think. when they are live they get the pterodactyl screech (someimtes) from an effect pedal and he slides up the neck. i dont remember what its called...could just be delay. true musicians at todays date us decreasing in POP music. a lot of the true musicians are underground/indie. mostly because they dont have money to get to their heads.
Nightmare356 1 year ago
@Nightmare356 Since when is silversun pickups underground and indie? Maybe they were years ago, but they are far from that now.....

Jackaloop, she doesn't scream "Would you run down past the fence." It goes "And she screamed Claudio, dear Claudio, I wish goddammitm, you'll make it if you believe."
Sorry. Had to clear that up. I'm a Coheed nerd.
