@LenkaMally Hello! I use all of these different colors because that is what I see. That is how I achieve the color that I'm looking for. You can't always get the color you want right from the pencil so I use other colors in a blending application using one to blend with the next and so on. The bright orange when blended with the black and yellow turns out just the color that the wet fur is. Same thing witht he eye color. His eye's have all of those colors and when blended together works :)) Roby
this is amazing. Just wondering how do you get the texture for the fur right. The detail is fantastic and I need some help, because I'm trying to draw a wolf foran arts class at school, but I'm not sure how to do it. cause the different colours and tones used make it a little difficult for me to get around. thanks
@jamieeliseconnor Hello! The key to doing fur is knowing the pattern that the hair grows in. You then apply layer after layer like shingles on a roof to achieve real looking fur. It's hard to explain about what colors to use, that all depends on the color of the wolf you're doing. You could make a "suggestion" of hair until you get more proficient at it. It's all about practice. :)))) Good luck and have fun!
@wildheart1989 Hello! I think the best advice that I could give you is to practice your drawing skills. Once you're comfortable there it's easier to apply the pastel pencils and stick pastels. The most important thing to achieve in painting animals is to know the hair patterns. Knowing the direction the hair grows makes a huge difference especially when you're doing very close up paintings. When doing eyes, try NOT to think of it as an eye but see the colors, values and contrasts. Have fun!!!
Hi, my medium... pastels, both stick and CarbOthello pastel pencils. I use the X-ACTO Powerhouse electric sharpener and my paper is Rag Bristol Board 500 cold press.
I'd love it...you can buy my work from several places, my website has the larger Limited Edition prints and large originals and Ebay and Etsy have my small prints and small originals. Ebay has the most. You'll have to google me as youtube won't let me link. Thanks for asking! Roby Baer
@AutumnLeafiffy Hello! You are not bothering me at all, happy to explain. I don't really use a blending tool other than my little finger at times to push the pastel into the Bristol board 500 paper. I use CarbOthello pastel pencils for all my detail work. I use one color over another blending them in together to acheive the soft look . Practice blending colors together, you'll find that you use black, white, light yellow the most. I bought the largest set of these pastel pencils.
@AutumnLeafiffy Hi! You'll have to check around. Dick Blick has the 60 set #20009-0609 for $58 limited supply though. Try Cheap Joes etc..... once you buy the set you can then buy each color by the box or as a single. They don't use color names they use #'s so it's hard to re-order unless you know your number. It's nice too to have the large set for that reason but it's beneficial as an artist to have choices. You'll use the white, black and light yellow the most for blending. Good luck!!! Roby
i was wondering why do you put greens and blues in the eyes as well as the bright orange in the fur?
