  • I'm pretty sure this is actually a George solo song that he recorded during the All Things Must Pass sessions.

  • Made me nostalgic, A home far away. Dehradun I will always Love You.

To and For all my Doon Brothers and Sisters!!! Like it..

  • The video made by Sharad Kukreti matches the words of the songs and captures the beauty and tranquility of the valley. However, it is this beauty and calm that the city is fast losing and one wonders whether the Beatles could have been inspired to write a song had they visited it in this day and age.

  • The song titled Dehra Dun was written during the band’s stay at Rishikesh in 1968. It is still not found in any of their albums and as such is quite a treat to fans. The song was played to participants of the conference from November 26 to 28. It is one of the rarest Beatles songs and Dehra Dun prides in the knowledge that the great musicians were so fascinated by the town that they composed a song about it, said Sharad Kukreti, who produced a short video film for the mayor’s meet.

  • The Beatles should've put this tune on a record. Sometimes, John & Paul let their egos get in the way of their musical sense.

  • George plays a bit of this song on the ukelele in the Anthology interviews.

  • If you love Dehradun, you love this too - ALLinDOON

  • That are not The Beatles, is George Harrison solo experience, recorded in 1970 but never came in an album.

  • @tiburonesrojosver

He wrote it during the Beatles though. At one point during the Beatles Anthology he plays it and Paul says "Oh I remember that."

  • @tiburonesrojosver just by the way you typed the first sentence I can tell you dont know what your talking about. Im pretty sure this was recorded during white album sessions. I can tell that bass is paul.

  • Good to hear from you guys, i am from doon as well, and offcourse you can upload to facebook or orkut if you want...

  • Hey folks! That's my hometown, it was actually written by George when 'The Beatles' were visiting Rishikesh and came Dehradun and was amazed by it's beauty and culture..that's what I heard. Anyway, can't deny the that how many people actually know about this song!

  • Can I upload this Video in Facebook Dehra Dun page.... Thanks in advance.....

  • I was born here! niceee

  • Interesting...! Yeah, I love the song -- esp. since I discovered it only a few years after I had had my last name changed to Deradune (where I changed the spelling to make it easier to pronounce).

  • This is very cool. I had heard George play a short section of this on the Beatles anthology but didin't realize he'd actually recorded the song. This was great to hear. Thank you for posting!!

  • who compiled this vide. makes me nostalgic being away for 8 years now. most of it is shot on rajpur it seems

  • Great !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I do not think this can technically be called a Beatles song. The Beatles never recorded it. It was written and recorded by George Harrison. Three of the Beatles played about 15 seconds of it on the Beatles Anthology for TV, but George couldn't remember the words so it was not finished. Then again, I guess it was a Beatles song that just was never recorded by The Beatles. Instead, it is a Beatle's song, since George most definitely was a "Beatle."

  • I agree with you that's it not a Beatles song, but a song written by George while he was in the Beatles. I'm sure John and Paul made plenty of demos that were not presented to the group but were recorded after the split. I find it funny George said he never recorded the song on the Beatles anthology but here it is!! Also, when he plays a little of it on the anthology both Paul and Ringo act like they've heard it before, so maybe the Beatles did play it? No evidence of that though.

  • I think the recording on the Beatles Anthology was recorded years before George made this recording -- which was not released until after George's death by the way.

  • I haven't been able to find much on this song but what I have seen suggests it was actually recorded in 1969 during the "Radha Krishna Temple" recordings. If you look them up on wiki, George was involved with them and produced an album for them on the Apple label. It is at least a reasonable theory that he recorded a studio demo but forgot about it when the anthology was produced 20-25 years later. Either way, great song!
