  • Unfortunately he is incorrect. He made a common error, but an error is an error. If the scale factor from A to B is 3 then the lengths of B will be 3 times longer than A making them 15 and 21. Instead this instructor applied a scale factor of one-third making the lengths one-third as long. The ratio he needed was "length of B over length of A" which produces the enlarging Scale Factor of 3. Also known as the ratio of "new length to old length".
