whats the movie about an aborigine 18 year old who gets pregnant by a white austrailian and she takes poison bread to abort her baby it was from the late 70's or 80's. I was so young when i saw it and it has that song call "my brown skin baby they go take a him away" in it.
I am not sure of the movie, but I know that BOB RANDALL wrote the song "My Brown Skin Baby They Take Him Away" Bob was just the BEST and when he played the song to me in the late 1970's it took my breath away with it's sadness and simple beauty.
Another great song I heard when I was a teenager back in the 80's. Bands like Coloured Stone and Warumpi Band never got the recognition they truly deserved. Thanks goes out to nzoz1984 for posting this on YouTube.
They also do a really good song called "Stay Young". I heard them on the Nyoongar radio station in Perth, Western Australia, 100.9FM. An excellent station. They have the best selection of music of all the radio stations in Perth. Couldn't find "Stay Young" on youtube. Anybody have that to share? Would love to see video.
Verse #2 He didn't know the school. But they called him Black boy. He hardly talked to the girls & boys. Don't be a fool. Just obey the rules. Cause you'll just learn the truth. Chorus Verse #3 And one day you'll grow up to be a man. To learn & live & understand Sticks & stones may break your bones But names will never hurt you. You'll be the one who's having fun. So you just keep learning on. Chorus.
Lyrics: Black Boy (Coloured Stone) Verse 1 A shy Black boy you came to the city. To learn about life and how his people are ??? He's very stubborn . He's just a child. And now his life is mystified. Chorus: Black boy. Black boy. Black boy. Black boy. The color of your skin is your pride & joy. Black boy. Black boy. Your life is not destroyed.
I love this song & I wish there had been a song like this when I was growing up. I tried to find the lyrics online with no success. So I've attempted to transcribe them from this video. I got stuck on one line. Please help & correct.
Btw, I've added this video to my online collection of YouTube music/dance video gems. Google Jambalayah. This is # 419 in that collection (The numbers don't indicate ranking). Look under Australian & New Zealand songs. Thanks!

What a beautifull but very very sad song to see.The visual really touches the heart. Living here for the past two years i know that kid represents lots of adults as well. After my dad returned back to africa he has not stopped speaking about the great music our local people make here in auz.. I found a nice little shop in Freo seling some great cds. Cheers All.

1 year ago Shame.... early albums by Coloured Stone, Warumpi Band, No Fixed Address, Us Mob and Kev Carmody should be released on CD and available in mainstream stores.
Listening to it in Denmark :O the other side of the earth ^_^ found it because I am studying to become a teacher and I am going to introduce music from around the world to the students :D this might be one of them :)
The Aboriginal lad in this vid is every bit as cute and handsome as Brandon Walters in the movie, *Australia*! Since this is 25 yrs later, one wonders what has become of him now, since he'd be, what? approx. 35 yrs old or so...Great video! And best wishes to all involved in its production!!!!
It is not racist is is speaking against racism. Try being Aboriginal in Australia and u will soon find out. Racism is deeply entrenched in this country.
I'm in the USA and I heard this song today for the first time. I love it!!! This song is relevant to people all around the world. I will buy it for my nephews!!!

Hey all sis' n bros', now we all feel the truth of this. We all seen the truth of this. But the point is until others understand the point of this then we aint gettin nowhere. Tell me this. How is it Aussies dont get it? But my Uni friend from a village in Kenya was so shocked and to see how we are treated and she comes from a place with no power, no medicine, no transport, and people killing each other with guns yet she says why do they treat your people like this? Its bad.

Yeah really great rhythm backed by simple but potent lyrics. Love the way he lets the line "Your life is not destroyed" just resonate without anything else to making it too pretentious. Great song
