@ljbndjb I'm sorry, this was before I got my new camera and my mac computer. Some of my older videos were really hard to hear. However, my newer videos are much better! I have learned and gotten better at taking video and editing. Still not a pro, but getting better. :)
It's so great that you are showing people other options and letting them know to listen to their own instincts about what is right for their own dog. Too often we tend to feel intimidated by others who are helping us train, and forget this. A great teacher understands this and knows that there are many many different wayst to get to the same goal. You're an amazing teacher, Pamela!
@azmauigirl I know the feeling, I was one of those intimidated people when I got my first dog. Everyone was telling me what to do and how to train. I did not like the things they were telling me to do, so I went on a search for a better way. A nicer way to train dogs! So, I want to make sure I help others do what is right for their dog! Follow their instincts and trust in themselves. NOT just do it because someone says so. :) THANKS! TAKE CARE!!!
This is the same area that we will be having the seminar. Right now winter is over and the grass is starting to grow again. It should be nice by summer. I am looking forward to the seminar!
You got it Pam! Safety is more important than speed. I think lately there has been too much emphasis put on speed for agility-with the result of hurting our dogs. Control is the first ingredient. Speed is only needed is you have a high level competitive dog. Most of us don't have that need!
Thanks Donna! I know what you mean. People seem to want faster and faster and for what really? I think that once a person has to deal with a dog injury, then they will learn. I hope I can make some think about it before something bad happens. Anyway, thank you for such a great comment!
Good explanation !! The sound is fine for me, by the way.
I also do 2 on 2 off with my dogs but I train the shifting of the weight to the rear first and then combine it with the nose target. And never let my dog go behind me. We usually just do a turn to get the dog on the contact zone or send the dog to it.
This is a very good idea! I have started using the plank method with my new agility dog, but I am going to try this mat method now too! It look like the dogs will much better understand what you want once they have a strong foundation. Great video!
Is there any way you could increase the volume on your videos? I know I have crappy speakers, but even with all of my volume controls set as high as they go, I can barely hear what you are saying. You cover great topics, so I know I'm missing some good stuff!
Hi, I wish that I knew how to get the volume up more. It only goes to 200% and that is what I have it. I started talking louder into my mic. I think that it is my cheap mic and that could be the problem. I am aware of the volume issue, so I really will figure it out. So sorry that you can't hear me.
You make so lovely videos! This is very clear and easy to understand :) And Bandit seems to be having an awesome time! As soon as we get rid of all that snow I'll buil a plank to our backyard so we can train this more often than one/week at class.
its a shame but i can hardly hear this video

Great video! I'm working on 2 on 2 off right now. Do you have any tips for what to do if your dog wants to swing their back legs off the contact?

How big should the target mat be? My target mat now is as large as the dogwalk and 20 cm long.(is this may be to small?)

I was just thinking of doing this with my Pittie...I have tried training nose targets with her and my other dog, and I just can't do it.
Thanks for the video!
