  • JUST DO IT!!!! LOL i love the part when he says just f***ing do it.

  • I'm dead serious to learn japanese.

  • Y'know what I love this video :3 Whenever i get asked how to learn japanese, i give a few links, they ask more, then i say JFDI, they go JFDI? and i link them to this video :3

  • I've actually integrated learning Japanese into my schedule now. Since I really don't have work at the moment, I study 2 hours a day total following 60-60-30. Most of my daily stuff follows that now especially my 3D animation portfolio improvement stuffmahthingies.

  • I was actually making myself do some self-study when I remembered Matsuhashi-sensei (my current Japanese teacher) telling me about this site/YT~ After watching this video, I thought of ways to learn more actively, and found a website that'll send me a new word-of-the-day every day! Today's word is "イケてる" which is a verb that means "to be cool". (^.^)

  • きおつけて means be careful, we use this word alot in hokkaido, my japanese friend i knew awhile ago use to always say drive safe, made me feel good.

  • @ChadoBokusta While you're correct in pronunciation-to-spelling, it's actually き"を"つけて. を is technically "wo", but is often pronounced "o" (or お). It's a particle/grammar marker, whereas お is more like a "letter"~ ^^

  • I agree! just start! :) I started with basic conversation skills and the writing systems! I took the things I usually said daily and learned them in Japanese I just keep building onto this. It seems to work :) I practice everyday :)

  • This video describes me perfectly. I spend a lot of time looking up how to do it instead just trying and making mistakes and things like that.

  • Well,I was walking to Nanba in Oosaka. I saw a sign that said"Umeda 5km" which is where I was headed...I thought,hmmm...should I walk all that way? Then I saw a Nike shirt so I did.

  • @MrDimitri3942 eksipnadeees..

  • I'm taking Japanese classes in my highschool! Yatta!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I learned some Russian words...

  • I learnt how to read.

    In English.

    1st step...

  • I learned what JFDI means!!!

  • man, what a great video.

  • the 1st thing i learned beides konnichwa, lol, was kobanwa.

  • hai wakarimashita... learning the alphabet is really my downfall... がんばってます!

  • The first thing I ever learned in Japanese was つづく to be continued... And it was from anime...

  • I learned how to conjugate irregular verbs into te form.

  • In listen to japanese lessons on my Ipod all the time, but there are no Japanese speakers in my town. Guess I'll have to go to Nihon.....

  • im watching your videos for shaping up my English skills :) from Japan<3

  • そですよ。日本語の勉強はちょっと難しいですけどおもしろいです、

    私は新しい学生です、

    みんなさん頑張ってください、

とふぐさん本当にありがとうございました、you were my inspiration for learning japanese

  • For a while i was indeed someone who stressed about learning japanese, "i dont have the time, I done have good books, i dont have a teacher," But i did realize how silly this was, so i do flashcards when i can, i enjoy anime, and i wont say i LEARN from anime, but i do try to listen more to pick up some things. slowly but surely i will learn a bit at a time.

  • @mickmouse13 if you want to learn japanese from simple, free, under ten minute lessons, come to my channel under the playlist "japanese lessons" and start from lesson 2. (lesson 1 is about greeting people and u prolly know that). Lesson 3 and onward are about speaking in sentences and being understood in japan. Please watch

  • I'm learning one or five verbs at a time; just learn some vocabulary, you will not be fluent overnight but you will be that one step closer! "Just do it!"

  • Lol, im wondering though; Did you really curse and cures and curse and then censor it? or just pretend to talk?

Also, well i just go to iKnow, TaeKim, Mykikitori, language-exchange, tofugu andother sites and just start fucking learning. So this video is wasted on me x) i needed it at 14. but ionstead, i postponed PROPER studying japanese till i was late 17. sigh...

  • @AngelBiLove If you want more japanese lessons for speaking in sentences and stuff, go to my channel under japanese lessons playlist. I have simple, pretty well explained under ten minute lessons. You can skip lessons 1, 2, 3 because they are the basics. You know "desu" "wa" "No" and "ka" right? if you do you can skip those.

  • Kore no Hentai Yaroga! O__O Is that right? xD

  • Matte = wait

So ka = I see (right?)

Baka... I also like Baka. xD

  • @mrmn8honeybee "I see" would be "so desu ka" not "so ka". So ka would mean "so?". So desu ka is like "is that so? or "i see". IF you want more japanese lessons go to my channel in the playlist "jjapanese lessons" and start from lesson 2.

  • @RanAbvideo Awesome, thank you very much. :)

  • I don't know....

JEDI (Just Effing Do It) sounds catchier to me. ;)

  • Particles!

  • i just got back from foreign exchange in japan and i learned so much, but now im back...tears

  • @heyhelloMelo I am trying to get a full scholarship through a essay contest but can't write well. Where did you live and how did you like it? How long were you there? What do I need to know before hand?

  • can any one give me any good resources for learning japanese free cause atm i have no way to pay for classes havnt been able to get a job i have a 10 month old son and a wife im struggling to take care of with wat little i can make and when i finaly do get a job most of that has to go to getting my own place so i can get out of my parents house -.-

  • @SinTheImmortal look through some more of his videos, he has like 2 videos that give you free resources.

  • Well, in my experience, you learn more japanese by learning it the wrong way than trying to find the right one. I suck at it (like, seriously, don't let me get into contact with a japanese speaking person), but I'm better than I was when I started, so hooray I guess.

  • i learned how to write the kanji for kizuna =D.

  • I also learned the difference between then kanji for king and the one for ball lol

  • I learned a bunch of new kanji this morning right after waking up...

  • I'd love to know the name of the music track you used in this.

  • I've been trying to get past this stupid challenge in Final Fantasy X that consists of dodging 200 lighting bolts in a row in some place. I counted the number of dodges in Japanese. It's not learning because I can already count to 200, but it was practice.

  • I started going to a Japanese institue 4 months ago...I can now FINALLY read hirgana and some katakana...I am also learning some basic verbs...w00ty w00t!!!! :D:D:D

  • I learned...

Watashi wa Kenneth to iimasu. :D

  • I've been learning about 300 or 400 new words with an iPhone app the past days (thanks to tofugu). Though weirdly enough, I already knew at least 80% of the words. Even those I didn't know I could guess correctly most of the time.

  • That's pretty much how I did it. :D

  • Great, Now I have a Video to respond to those people who complain about learning Japanese. XD

  • Learned how to say Hello Everybody, I'm Sabrina in Japanese!

  • I have learned a lot of things since i came , though japanese a bit hard but impossible is nothing , if you wanna leaning you're going to learn , you just need to take the first step :D good luck to anyone learning japanese

  • @SinTheImmortal On the internet you also have sites where you can learn Japanese for free, these are exellent for the poor people like myself x3!!!

  • @msdp could u give me sum examples?

  • Awesome video. This can be said about many things. So many times I will play something sweet on a guitar and people will say, "I wish I could play guitar" or "I want to learn to play guitar". I usually respond by forcing them to hold the guitar and making them play notes. There's no better time then now to start learning. Before you know it, you will be getting wrinkles, losing your hair and thinking I should of learned it when I had the chance. If you want to learn to do something, then JFDI!

  • Great advice ^3^

  • I started seriously self studying Japanese early last year. I downloaded ebooks, pdfs, iPhone apps, a dictionary, made a blog, and made some penpals from Japan.

    まだ上手くないんですが、がんばります~!

  • I learned what to say to my friend who shouldn't wait for her class to start learning!

(and earlier today I learned sagasu which has been bothering me for a LONG time)

  • I have learned a new insult that includes "watermelon"

  • I have learned hiragana and have almost completly gotting the hang of katakana!!! All thanks to textfugu!!! <3 (obviously, I did not do this today, I've been working on it for months)

  • I'm just learning but I think this is some kind of building: 勃起

  • Good philosophy. If you do a little each day you'll get somewhere. I've had no proper training but over 7 yrs or so I went through numerous books, all the jouyou kanji, a dozen mangas and a few "real" pieces of literature. You'll eventually see the reward if you just cry over the difficulty...and then keep going.

  • Textfugu is awesome

  • I read the first chapters of textfugu. Should have done that months ago. ^^

  • I opened up my notebook and worked on my hiragana memorization :)

  • i cant tell you how guilty of this i am. i have been "trying" to learn japanese for over 4 years now and i havent even gotten started

    its the fucking procrastination man

  • @JaCkMiChEaLs0n Go to textfugu.com (it's koichi's website if you didn't know) and read the first chapters of his japanese text book (The first chapters are free, view them as a sample of something much bigger and better). His textbook is so fun and interesting that you'll almost forget that you're learning a ton of japanese! :D

  • @gangster301 u akready read most of the free textfugu stuff. thats actually one of the only things i did do.

i know the kana, a couple dozen kanji, and basic grammer. but other than that its just hmm ill do more later and oh i need a way to get started

  • @JaCkMiChEaLs0n Pay the forever fee. That way you'll want to learn, just so you'll justify paying the fee. And if you end up not doing it, you can ask koichi for a refund, and he'll give it to you. Basically, pay the "forever" fee, then you'll have a very good reason to keep going.

  • Cool T-shirt. ^_^

  • I decided I should go back to studying for my physics final....and whatever numbers i compute, i'll say in japanese :D

  • i learned some new kanji today and got my understanding basic japanese grammar books

  • My issue is I'd like to learn in a classroom first to get a foundation. Then I'll start teaching myself and practicing on my own. Buuuuut, a Japanese class wouldn't fit in my major and I have a lot of classes I still NEED to take.

  • @kichan imma engineering major i dont have time to do anything but study, if you really want to learn you could do it, and btw when you do take those classes itll be like AHHHH do i really want to put off graduation to take japanese. I know this cuz im in that situation right now, i can graduate next spring or i can take this awesome japanese class (its a 2nd year course, iv taken 3 semesters of it, plus some half semesters where i droped it to focus on other stuff). Its better to take it early

  • For realsies.

  • I learnt that you can ingeniously put the F word in well-known, famous slogans.

  • I learned that... you are still incredibly cute. XD

  • I'm learning Chinese but I learned the word 名片 (or 名刺 in Japanese)!

  • スイカ!!!!!!

  • I needed this to kick me into writing up vocabulary flashcards I've been putting off xD thanks!

  • i have kinda halted my japanese since starting korean

    <xD ....sorry?

uhm but i memorized all the hiragana

and started getting down sentance structure

i think the last thing i learned before switching over was 'te' form =]

  • これは私のちんぽです。

  • Probably the most obvious thing to say... but people seemingly don't know that "The longest journey starts with a single step."

Seriously people, put on your goddamn shoes and start walking already.

You can whine, or tie your shoes and go. Also, once you start your journey, it actually takes more effort to stop than it does to keep moving.

  • @ToxinMortalis Ah, but its the tying up my shoe laces that I'm stuck on!

  • @aliaDS Velcro baby, velcro.

Alternately, go Japanese-style and get slip-ons. That's all a friend of mine wears since he came back from studying in Japan. One of the better habits he picked up while over there.

  • In Soviet Union,...

Ok, im not gonna make that joke.

  • Not a great motto if your suffering from depression.

  • I've learned "neko no mimi"... at least that is the only japanese I have learned today. I am taking courses though. I hope to study japanese at uni...

  • The other day I learned what "Kimi ga iru kaneko?" means. But I'm sure you do Koichi.

  • Koichi!

Please teach us how to say "Just F*ckin Do It!!" in Japanese!

  • O...O... OUUUEENDDAAAAAAAAAAAAN

  • @wellytopjohnny Or just study...

  • Koichi, do you have OCD for writing with capital letters in every new word? XD Or wtf was that?

I agree, but it's so hard, but I guess we should Just Fucking Do It.

  • 黒革 kurokawa=black leather. Thank you, random ALI PROJECT song! ~ lol

  • The best way to learn Japanese is buying textfugu!

  • waht the music called?

  • Koichi what do you think about this wikipedia article for learning Kanji. Wikipedia/Kyōiku_kanji This is my first comment.

  • I liked the part when you said whinge.

  • I've learn 虚説 it means groundless rumor... I got it from a song... xD

  • Most Japanese girls excuse for not shaving their bush is that it is scary to do...did I learn a good thing?

  • well ive learn a lot ... jajaja but its all just frases i can only say jajaja i dont know how to write anything jajajaja sorry :(

  • Same thing could be said about a hooker.

  • I read a few pages in the Japanese Graded Readers that I'm currently reading. I just learned and reviewed tonnes of grammar and vocabulary. I learned 刑務所(けいむしょ)= prison.

  • 私が少し日本語を話します。 That's one of the only sentences I know. The other is asking for tea or basic stuff like I am a girl and thank you.

  • I have learned... Eh, okay I'm JF gonna DI now..

  • ビデオの中で、コイチの描いたそういう人は「意気地無し」と呼ばれる。今日、「意気地」を勉強になるんだ

  • I've been learning for over a year now. I have learnt so much and come so much farther than I expected. But I'm not as far along as I could be because I'm still in college while self-teaching Japanese at home.

  • Wow that was actually really inspirational

Compared to his older videos. Thanks Koichi

  • I learned ways to spell Japanese words in English without spelling them.

"Don't worry" is probably spelled "Daijobu" or similar. "That's right" is probably spelled "So desu pa" or something similar.

  • @VelvetWind8 I meant without "seeing" them.

  • koneko wa kawaii desu ne!

  • @cococococat2 こけのわかわいいですね!

  • @applefreak1954 you did it wrong. "wa" in this context is the same symbol as "ha"

the wa symbol is only used if its actually part of the word.

  • @endauthority i know i personally just use わ because i like it that way... sooo yeah, i know that its normally は.

  • @applefreak1954 your personal taste is wrong

  • @endauthority how is it wrong if i personally like it, its not wrong its just less commonly used. end of discussion, its just how i like it.

  • @applefreak1954 no, its literally wrong. language is not subjective. its an objective construction meant to communicate. if you use the "wa" symbol in the places where the particle goes youre eventually going to form words that you dont intend to say.

theres no point in having a language built around your own personal feelings because then communication fails.

  • @endauthority okay i dont care, i'm not learning japanese to be typing all day or writing, i want to learn japanese so i can talk and read, for me its not a big deal so just shut up i dont care. end of disscussion like i've said before

  • @applefreak1954 Japanese people often show Kanji with their fingers to demonstrate ideas quickly. Much like how people in America speak with their hands a lot.

Also, youll be reading things incorrectly if you assume the wa symbol can be used in that manner. Youll end up reading things incorrectly, adding wa to words can make them into other words or unintelligible.

Saying end of discussion doesnt change the fact that youre wrong

  • @endauthority i never said that you were wrong or i was right, i think i wouldnt need to add わ if i was symbolizing a kanji. if i did then i would or i would use ha if its supposed to be pronounced ha instead of wa.

  • @applefreak1954 But I am right. You arent. Thats the truth here, and not to mention, the first word "koneko" is not spelled "こけの" (Koke no), but I suppose you just "like" to do it that way right? To avoid the responsibility of having to actually have some kind of dedication to understanding something?

you didnt address the issue of you reading things incorrectly as a result of using the absolutely wrong hiragana symbol. adding wa at the end of a word can and will result in misunderstandings

  • @endauthority okay i really dont care. i can speak how i want to mr. i know everything in the japanese language, why don't you troll someone else? i really couldnt care less, you didnt need to start this fight or whatever you want to call it. you dont need to teach me, i can take care of myself so just shut up.

  • @applefreak1954 sure you can speak how you want, however THE POINT OF A LANGUAGE IS TO COMMUNICATE IDEAS. If you just go around saying things how you want nobody will be able to really understand what you even want to say.

Im not trolling you. Im point out that you have to make a correction.

Apparently you cant take care of yourself.

  • @endauthority i can perfectly take care of myself but ha and wa is basically pronounced the same and like i said before, im not going to be typing in japanese. so thats not going to matter. and i understand that it is to communicate.

  • @applefreak1954 You still shouldn't use "wa" in place of the particle "ha". If you're going to do that, just make sure you write/type it as a small "wa". But then you'll seem like a HS girl trying to be cute. I'm seriously not meaning any offense by that, but that's how it is in some parts of Japan. But I side with endauthority... Whether you're just going to "speak and talk", you should learn it right. It's like someone typing/writing "dis" instead of "this": It's a slap to the face of English.

  • I have been studying Japanese for a year now. Still have a lot to learn though :/ not looking forward to learning Kanji characters :/

  • @retrodurb Honestly I think if you are a year in and have not been learning Kanji from the beginning you are doing it wrong.

    kanjidamage is a great site.
