.haven't you ever walked by somebody you're especially close with because you "didn't see them"...of course you saw them, you were just preoccupied--and it being completely out of context...in a subway stop, it's too unfair to judge people for not being conscious enough...

Expecting people on their way to pursuing an endeavor to be alert enough to 1) hear a violin and 2) decide it is good playing and 3) take time away from their duties, is what is nuts.
