The rates and administrative law critiques behind the video are way off. The rate driver up until now and for the next couple of years is the off-coal story and the cost of gas power. In future, the solar and wind will hurt consumers significantly but not for a couple of years. The dig at the OEB misses the mark too. Government policy, not regulatory "lack of enforcement" is the problem. The lobbyist and rebate/deficit critique are solid though.
Hydro bills are going up 46% over five years. Thanks a lot Dalton! The Green Energy Act is the act from hell, and that is exactly where it needs to go. PEI only pays 7.75 cents/kwh. We are paying 13.5 cents. Coal plants should be cleaned up and maintained. It can be done for a fraction of the coast of the brain dead McGuinty energy plan.
Don't shoot the messenger. Power rates will go up, a lot of people will make a lot of money AND because of the nature of electricity generation and consumption (needs stability) there is no net environmental benefit. Wind and solar require standby or backup power. If we don't, then transmission wires melt or we have blackouts or both.
I am really worried about Ontario. Our deficit is MASSIVE compared to any US state. This will come back to haunt us..and our (and your) kid's future.
This is a wonderful opportunity for a little "critical thinking" exercise. I would love to know which large fossil fuel corp or conservative political party "xtranormal" is associated with. As taxpayers we have been subsidizing electricity (and oil companies to the tune of billions of dollars/yr). Germany has generated 250,000 green jobs with a move to green energy. A gradual increase of energy prices will decrease energy waste & lower GHGs.

This is BS!! Wind energy is a great way to reduce our environmental impact!
Whoever made this video has ulterior motives and a hidden agenda

Sparks will fly over this. When you are out deer hunting this year put a couple of rounds into the generator and watch the fireworks.
