No Calgary is beautiful so I take offense to that! lol, seriously though every time I watch the skeleton crashes I shudder, I mean, they are going at these speeds head first! An awesome sight to see at the track in Calgary though.
Contact the skeleton team here in the US. Now, I was in Salt Lake when they still had the track up, I think it's still there. Anyway, I went up to a guy there and asked if I could try the skeleton out. He said "no, only experienced sliders can do this." I said, "so, you were born doing this, when was your first time ?" So he relented and let me try it, lower down the track for a start, but still it was a hoot, and I did a lot better than the snooty dude thought I would.
I don't want to seem unpatriotic or anything but I don't think we are gonna win the Gold or the Silver....or the Bronze. Don't they give you a coin or certificate for participating? hmmm, maybe that was the Special Olympics I'm thinking about.
One of my students (he's in college) just told me that he's being recruited to do skeleton racing...they recruit people when they're 20 and 21...AFTER they can sign the indemnity waiver, I guess...
I wish some guy that had some important job could realize that if he designed an asphalt course down the side of a mountain for downhill skateboarding or luge (head first or not) that things could get pretty Olympic looking fairly fast. man it would be a dream to do downhill skate in the Olympics. but oh well...
Hey guys, I am from Calgary and I am on the Canadian luge team. Calgary isnt THAT hard :P I find lake placid much harder, but then again last time I slid there was when I was 12.
but then again I do luge, and have never tried skeleton, so I wouldnt know the difficulty for that.
Heh, but we were noobies when we were in Calgary at that time. ;) I agree though that Placid is harder but that could be because i have more runs in calgary than placid.
Dude i skeleton street luge. How much different does the ice feel. Id like to try it sometime but cant find a club near me that does it i live in Portland, Oregon.
I don't have any idea how different the ice feels since I've never skeleton street luged before. The nearest clue to Portland for skeleton on ice is in Park City, UT.
Dakota! Is that really you? We survived skeleton school at Park City, in 2004 (I heard that Jen, Dick and Tyler's facial stitches healed nicely!). One question: when do the nightmares stop? :-) Stay safe, sliders!!!
nice video.. I have been in a couple of nice crashes from bobsled, but did skele my first 2 weeks and hada few bruises from thr track at placid .... I too have some nice scars thanks to braking for someone who like to crash in 12 at placid.
Wow, awesome video, guys! Sorry I couldn't join you for ICE team training in Calgary--I would've enjoyed competing with Matt, Dakota, Sterling and Linda for "wildest crash" caught on tape. "Runners up,"
Yeah, those guys had a great competition running. ;) Luckily for as bad as the crashes looked, everyone only came out with a little ice burn. My speed suit on the other hand looks like it went through a shredder from the short wall at the exit of kreistle.
I wanna do try that sooo bad! :D

It depends on the country, in the US contact the Utah Olympic Park or Olympic Regional Development Authority in New York.
