THere's nothing to be surprised. Catalans are Spanish. There's only a minority in catalonia who hates spain, but the majority feels spain as their country, as everywhere in spain.
Catalonia is Spain, Spain cannot be without Catalonia.
@Imra i'm happy to know that years ago i meet a catalan and he in fact hated spain, hope the new worldcup tittle will help to unite the country, pais vasco similar thing

There actually aren't very many Catalans in Catalunya anymore. Barcelona in particular experienced a lot of internal migration from Andalusia, where people don't have much of a problem with Spain. Also, in recent times, non-Europeans have immigrated and they obviously haven't inherited the grudge either.
