  • The rice crispy treat you were eating is called Sachima it is a sweet snack. It mainly consists of flour, butter, and rock sugar or rock candy. We have a similar treat here in Indonesia called berondong but it is make with glutinous rice instead of flour and the texture is harder than Sachima.

  • lol he's like a kid with a new gift when her got the garlic presser xD

  • lol, there was a show on pbs kids called sagwa that taught me about moon cakes! :P

  • The orange thing you ate inside the moon cake in the beginning was a salty preserved egg yoke we have it in Vietnam(:

  • haha daim hm seems you got candy from sweden! awesome! XD hehe hawe never really thogut abouth daim being swedish but i gues it is?

  • why do you torture us with your eating!

  • So cute hahaha!! I miss moon cake so much:( I subscribe u!,

  • since i AM chinese i will explain this to you xD

the first thing you ate, the yellow square is popped rice with sugar water to make it sticky. [chinese version of the american rice crispy treat] they usually have sesame seeds in it, but sometimes they dont or they have nuts.

the squares that come in the box is the actual moon cake. the brown stuff inside is lotus paste. the yellow round orb is a preserved egg yolk [NOT SALTY!]. they WOULDN'T PUT SOMETHING SALTY IN A SWEET TREAT!!!

  • In the lotus paste it has some lotus but the yellow yolk is egg that has been pickled to make it salty like taste but because of the White translucent part made it sweeter a bit.

  • hello from hong kong:)

  • Inside the moon cake is duck egg yolk ^^ (2 years of Chinese class paid off!) 很好吃!和你太可爱了!=D

  • Lol...the thing inside the moon cake is salted egg yolk. HAHAHHAH. :P

  • Thumbs up if u also thought he was goin to make a Moon Cake!!

  • It's Salted Egg Yolk, not Lotus.

and we usually eat moon cakes in slices, not a mouthful of chomp. LOL

And the one you loved, is Sachima, a snack made out of rice, malted sugar and honey (and also sesame and nuts like cashews, pumpkin seeds or pistachio, depending on regions).

  • LOLOLOLOL THAT ORANGE THING ISNT LOTUS LOL ITS CALLED A SATLED EGG YOLK wait what is a lotus anyways?

  • The yellow thing is salted egg yolk

  • HAHAHA :)

    That is SAQIMA runny.

  • hahahhhahahas at 4:34 when runny opens tat stuffs hahahas what nothing here lol but u can see the garlic on top ROFLMAO

  • runny runny 999 the moon cake is actully for you to eat like one bite by bite it's not really recomanded == to seperate the yolk lol

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • I also prefer シャーチーマー over moon cakes. Try taro, green tea, chocolate moon cakes or mochi moon cakes with mango, pandan, choco, yoghurt, melon, ice cream, tiramisu, cream cheese or pandan fillings etc. They taste better than a traditional moon cake. I really want to eat again, but I can't..... You' re lucky you could go to the next Chinatown in Japan and buy some.

  • The thing in the moon cake is salted duck egg yolk. U really make me lmao

  • And runny the yellow thing is the yolk!!

  • At first, I didn't know he said konichuwa lol I thought it was konchwa

  • All I see when I see Japanese (at least that's what I assume it is) is little square boxes... How am I supposed to read boxes???

  • Daim! Yay Sweden :D

  • *subscribes* =) I like you

  • @Kinvishi me too

  • when you cut a moon cake in half, you'll see the yellow egg in the middle of the dark colored paste and it looks like a full moon in the night sky (because they are made for the chinese moon festival)

  • Moon cakes!! i love moon cakes!!XD

  • you are so funny! im from HK and when i watch this, you remind me of my home...

  • The one that you like should be a sort of rice cracker with like "bloated rice crispies" kind of thing..

The yellow thing in the moon cake is a salted egg yolk. The lotus paste is the filling of the mooncake. xD

    I'm chinese haha :D

  • Has much as I love your cooking videos because you always make funny comments, I was laughing all along this video. I hope you will continue making your coocking lessons for amateurs like us! • Mooncake season is almost here again! Love mooncakes. They are sweet really.

  • So similar to Chinese Culture :) I'm Chinese myself and can relate to this :3

  • @novaboi24 I kinda think that was Chinese. The stuff's from Hong Kong. I'm Chinese too.

  • @WoodenRoller oh yeah my comment was unclear haha... I love moon cakes :P

  • These are so good! But they are soo bad for you. I can't resist them though :0

  • 味に関して正直なところが好きです^^

  • Runny! There are also mooncakes that are made from icecream too (and some other sweeter things like red bean [adzuki beans])

I love Daim~ I always go to IKEA to buy those LOL I didn't know Japan has Costco or IKEA :o

  • The first bite you had, that looks like our Rice Crispy squares made with marshmallows.

  • The grey part's the lotus paste, the yellow part's a salted egg. Some people like the mixture of sweet lotus paste with a hint salted egg. Daim made my tooth fall once.

  • The thing you thought was the moon cake first is actually a Sa Qi Ma cake, it's rice with sesame (usually)

  • runny! the thing you ate first is like basically rice thats is fried and moon cake is made of lotus seed paste and yellow duck egg york in the middle. :) happy eating!

  • The yellow thing u were referring to that was hiding was egg

  • hey runny they make white lotus seed pSTE MOONCAKES TOO

  • i'm on a diet right now cause I can't wait to eat mooncake! it's gonna be in season this august yeay!!!

  • I don't really like eating too much moon cake 'cause the lotus paste is too thick! But the taste is nice

  • the first thing you ate (Sachima) is supposed to be crushed in the wrapper first to sort of pack it in a little :)

  • It's called 薩其馬. I find it's called シャーチーマー(Sachima) by wiki.

The sweet paste is called 蓮蓉 made by lotus seed(蓮子)~~~

The strange thing is 鹹蛋黃(egg yolk of salted duck egg) so

of course it's not bitter or sweet XD

  • That thing runny liked looked like a Chinese rice krispy treat or something.

  • ROTFL!!!!!! XD

"I remember Lotus look a little creepy." LOL

  • this guy is so endearing and so funny. I will definitely watch more of his videos. I wish a lot more people were like him.

  • the thing that is not mooncake is called "sachima"

  • The whitish paste is lotus paste

The yellow center is a duck yolk or egg yolk

The brownish paste is red bean, I think you call it anko?

  • lololol! The orange thing is egg yolk, but I think it's oily. There are also moon cakes with a clear paste... I forgot what it's called.

You should try sesame balls. I think they have anko in it.

  • I love your face when you said "Delicious" :D

  • i had to subscribe after seeing your expression on your face when you ate the egg yolk part of the moon cake xD

  • I'd like to see you eat natto! i hear its pretty hardcore stuff..

  • It was weird when he said majuu I thought of that one piece manjuu moment, lol randomm...

  • The food (0:34) which was mistaken for mooncake is called 馬仔(マ・ツァイ/Ma-tsai) in Cantonese in Hong Kong. runny i enjoy your videos!! btw, who sent you those gifts? u have friends in Hong Kong? actually I live in Hong Kong and i love japanese culture so much!

  • the thing inside is a egg..liek the egg yalk

  • IN UNITED KINGDOM THEY CALL DAIM

    DIME BAR

  • The first thing you tried wasn't moon cake, but an egg flour cake. It is a very common asian (chinese snack) and available all year around. The snack is primary made of egg, flour, dragged through a machine to make the noodle shape, and deep fried then sugar/honey/glazed coated. There are also green tea flavoured ones along with taro favoured ones :)
