My boss has a Nardin...it's been back to them for repairs four times in two years. For the price, this has to be the biggest piece of junk I have ever seen. I feel for him, given the money spent and the frustration of having it break so often, and the hassles of dealing with a manufacturer that just doesn't care about customer service and has quality issues.
I'm not exactly sure why this type of balance wheel is better. For compactness, the balance wheel is typically placed horizontally. If the balance wheel is poised correctly, it should operate the same no matter what position the watch is in. This is an interesting way of mounting a b/w but seems it would only make the watch thicker than necessary.
@taofledermaus it seems to me that the point is just making it in a different way, even if the only difference is the way on which you place the elements of the mechanism. Personally I prefer when there is a concept involving the way time is displayed justifying the changes on the mechanism, but even if it's mostly a matter of excentricity, it's still nice to look at.
This is NOTHING ! I simple spring powered escapement mounted off-center on a pivot and it's supposed to be "Concord C1 Quantum Gravity" (aka BS) .
When the escapement releases a notch on the spring it propels the bobbin forward (rotationally) . Newton's 3rd law explains why the entire escapement turns slightly. The bobbin's catch spring then stores most of the energy and spins the bobbin back. However this force doesn't exceed the fiction of the pivot so the bobbin doesn't spin backwards.
Man, they proved the Shcrodinger paradox was wrong like dozens of years ago... Next you will come up with "We can travel in time, Einstein said so" ... Wake up dude, Quantum mechanics is not sci-fi, but the closest tool we have for now to understand the universe
just because YOU cant wrap your mind around something ... doesnt mean everyone else is clueless. quantum mechanics is just another step in us understanding life .. the universe .. and .. everything
guys its Quantum physics dont thnk to match its more complex than u think... coz if u thnk 2 much ur head might explode lets just leave it to the pro.. k guy..
Wiki tourbillon and you will understand it better. Most watches of today are powered by a battery, not by gravity or escapement. Basically think of a small pendulum in a watch that works, no matter with way the watch is facing or being held. They have been, and still are, considered a marvel of engineering and are still by many, considered "high-tech"
@IndieArmy it's not powered by gravity rofl. the tourbillon is like a little gyroscope who keep the internal mechanism movements smooth no matter in what position the watch is held. that's all
@ChronicMist correct you are... powered by motion of the wearer. there are a few clocks powered by the slight deference in gravitational pull caused by the moon but they are huge.

does that measure gravity? Like a watch with time?
