I was born and raised in the island of Rapa Nui, this is my third year here in the united states, and i can say that one of the things i miss is the surf. of course i miss my people in the pachama tribes, and the culture, but one of the main things that makes home sick is the smell and warmth of that ocean

There is a lot of truth to that. Surfers are relatively harmless aspects of Western civilization. Rapa Nui has already experienced the ravages of it already though, so them going out on the waves is hardly destructive.  Read about the history of Rapa Nui. It's ugly.
