The man survived even though his helmet flew off.

The conductor was lucky to hop off quickly, and the man who was hit by the truck was even luckier. I have to wonder what speed the train is going though, although the engineer can run up to 30 MPH in reverse as long as he has the conductor on the back end, it looks like it could have been even more than 30. Regardless the trucker should have been alert, and obviously he didn't look.

@Boss302fan True, didn't even think about where this was, and upon a second review of the video I see it was in Turkey. In the USA, the FRA has a 30 MPH maximum when there isn't an engineer up front but there is a conductor watching. However, that might actually be for passenger only... Not sure about freight.

The truck driver leaving the gate area has an obligation to stop, look and listen before they cross tracks. Drivers who frequent these dangerous areas know this and should be cautious at all times.

How come they didn't hear it? Not that I can't tell you. People simply make mistakes, as this truck driver did.

@BTCRAIL101FILMS I worked as a Conductor on ConRail for a few years, then in Yards for a few more till it got sold and the "New Hires" got screwed...but anyways, you would not believe how quiet a train is when backing up. With the new welded rails, there isn't even the *click-click---click-click* to hear. Unless you work with them every day, it's even harder to guage the speed they are moving, and thats where this guy failed....and paid the price.

ok so after reading most of the posts I have decided that all of you are idiots. One the man that gets hit by the truck is supposed to be looking for the train since he is directing the truck to go ahead. So basicly it iis his own fault he even got hit. Two it is not a gas station it is a shipping yard. Which it is not uncommon for trains and trucks to be in the same area. Hence why they ship stuff in with trains and truck them out with trucks.
