Here is a thought, if a profit based insurance health care company will try to cheat the patient by cutting corners for profit won't the same company try to cheat the government to pad the care we get until care from diminished funds is diminished for all ?
This may be splitting hairs but I think the bonuses thing is smoke and mirrors. Not that I agree with those kinds of bonuses and such - BUT - if every CEO were to give their bonuses back it would make a hill of beans worth of difference to this situation and to the economy in general.
I personally thought the coverage of bonuses while they pumped a trillion dollars in "recovery" loot out was sleight of hand.
All in all I think we are the same page though. Thanks for watching.
How to pay for it? Look at the immense "bonuses" the health insurance agencies pay their CEO's. These people already make a large salary and have most everything they own bought and paid for, the rest is gravy. If they only received a tenth of their bonus and put the rest into the care of others it would vastly improve your existing system, but they don't like or want that. One guy (one!), Ron Williams of Aetna, made 1.09 mil salary and 1.95 mil bonus last year alone.
Also, did you see my little rhyme on this? It was because TheJamesPope (the first poster on this thread) said my answer was fuzzy...so I did a rhyme! :-)
I am the same as you; neither 'right' nor 'left' I form my decisions through fact and reason. Since Obama's and Harper's elections, though, my views have become more lefty with all the immense Bullshit that is coming from right-wing demagogues and the people who pander to them. I am especially disgusted with right-wing Christians who believe outright lies and spread hateful messages of any type. Not to protect and help the sick and needy and keep CEO's honest is an evil action.
Hey man, I've watched some of your interviews and enjoyed them. This is the first personal video of yours I've seen, and you seem like a level-headed guy. These are my thoughts.
You seem to be holding your thoughts back so much that you barely took a stance on this. You've got to be willing to step on a few peoples' toes, ya know?
Doctors didn't go to school for accounting and they don't handle the billing of patients, so I'm not sure why you'd want them talking with insurance companies.
Thanks for your words. I was very nervous about putting this out. I wanted to keep my channel lighthearted. I still do.
It just seems to me that if you express one molecule of disagreement in the bill, which is a very polarizing topic, you are immediately a right-wing "fucktard".
I think this bill is very flawed, expensive and poorly thought out.
This bill has been reduced to "The public option AT ALL COSTS" bill. We're Americans, I feel we can do better AND help everyone. :-)
I have not noticed this reduction to public option at all costs, but I think from other comments of yours that you are simply stuff in that belief for whatever reason.
Obama is actually pushing to give people more private care options while still providing the public option.
The opt-in feature is the only thing that pushes the public option and all it says is that if an employee does not choose a private plan 30 days after employment they can be automatically opted into the public plan...
First, I am for a public option, just not at the expense of private companies. If you have ever owned your own business you quickly realize how hard it is to turn profit due to strenuous government taxes and so on.
I think it is unfair to place this burden on employers especially when we need the companies to start hiring people again.
Tell me. if you were a company, would you want to compete against the US government for business?
I thought it was great video and I can see the way that there are tough issues for US people to consider, not just politicians.
It seems that the media may have bit to with polarizing the debate and instead of providing informed discussion has resorted to slinging political labels around.
The video response was great, it's the health care reform issue that makes things complicated. It is so difficult to create a solution that doesn't leave one set of people or demographic out in the rain, mostly because we have built this country on such capitalistic values.

Or they and the employer will be taxed.
But the employee can still opt out of the public plan and into the employers private plan later assuming the employer provides a private option.
I dont get why people would think the public option kills the provate industry either.
Does everybody only buy bare minimum healthcare insurance today, or the bare minimum car insurance plan?
The public option is not glamorous, all emcompassing. There will be better private plans that are likely more expensive

Just about the most insightful commentary I've heard on this issue!

Bravo. I agree 100%. In other words, let the experts author the bill.
Now let's get these bureaucrats to actually let them do it.
You don' t have to apologise for talking sense... 5 stars.

I thought the critiquing made a lot of sense, though with most solutions to the health care issue, I found your a bit fuzzy.

Yes. I rambled a bit. Sorry. I just didn't want to come off as a self-righteous prick.
That's Imendham's job. :-) Joking.
That was my first response vid. I'll work on it.
